in case you're wondering why your gpu fan suddenly kicks into high gear and you see the temperatures rise to AAA status, it's because this game doesn't cap fps in windowed mode and ends up, successfully to their credit, rendering over 600 of them every second. there's no option to cap it. nor is there an option to turn off the sound or music or even lower the volume.
I am pretty bad at jumping. I was failing tutorial. And my fails brought me to bug in tutorial. There is red mushroom witch should help you to jump over abyss, but if you fail you might start 'never ending fall'. Its not fun at all to bump in such bugs. So i played more, skiped tutorial. And found out that falling through floor while jumping is pretty common. Somethimes it hapens to specific places, somethimes it happens when you start at check-point, it just falls through. At this state, for me it is unplayable :( pretty sad. I cant recommend this game even if its graphic is pretty enjoyable. I guess devs didnt found enough time to polish it. I wish devs will look into it.
Obviously you can't play this game unless you have a gamepad!!! Genius developers make a game and publish on a major PC distribution platform however they don't give the option to navigate using your keyboard. Save your money for another game...
“Do not reinvent the wheel” is something that the creators of Papers Monsters Recut has taken to heart. The game is essentially a combination of Super Mario platforming gimmicks with the art style and music of LittleBigPlanet with the storyline of Sonic. Incidentally from Mario:

in each stage, there are three big collectables you can get
there is an overworld that links the stages
100 buttons makes a life
grassland, water land, ice land, lava land, etc.
you stomp on enemies to remove them
… and MORE!
The near non-existant storyline is that [strike]Dr. Robotnik[/strike] Bowser? is turning innocent wildlife into monsters and [strike]Sonic[/strike] the nameless box protagonist is going to stop him. Furthermore the game has a lot of bugs which makes it very frustrating to play. In the short time I’ve played this game, I’ve encountered numerous bugs which demonstrates a lack of testing. The most popular being the sudden absence of the health bar which renders your character immune to death. Several times, the protagonist will be able to pass through pipes (the warp area) and end up in the void. I’ve also encountered a bug where the stage wouldn’t end because the game wouldn’t recognize that I was in the end area. So really the only cutting that the creators of Papers Monsters Recut have done were the corners of ingenuity, originality, and game design.
6/10 Drin Score. This is a cute platforming game with a paper mache type of graphics. However, there are no main changes to the character, no power ups, it just jumps and double jumps. Sometimes, it can get a bit boring, although there are an number of stage/theme changes. It's not a difficult platformer, and there's some sort of replayability to collect all collectibles. Still, there's almost no action on this, just pure family friendly platforming.
I really wanted to like this game. Unfortunately, it just wouldn't give me the chance. The graphics are some of the most adorable I have ever seen, and that is what initially caught my eye. I came across several bugs such as, every time anything loads it drops you to the desktop for a few moments. Annoying, but it's not game breaking. Unfortunately, some of the other bugs are. Sometimes when you miss a jump and fall down a hole..you just keep falling until you manually restart the level. But the worst one, is when you jump and should land on a platform..only to fall through it instead. Or how about when you are standing somewhere, not even touching the controls..and you fall through whatever you were standing on. If I have to restart from a checkpoint for missing a jump, that's on me; but when the game itself makes you have to restart because it just freaks out.. over and over. It just sucks out whatever fun there was. And as far as fun goes, I honestly didn't get to experience much (for obvious reasons). It's really just your typical SMB jumper/collect coins (buttons). For the cute factor alone I want to recommend it, but save your money because they already got mine.
Paper Monsters Recut is a 2.5D platformer where the world has a charming paper Mache look to it. We play as an unnamed robot looking fellow on a quest to stop an evil dinosaur. To accomplish this we will jump on the heads of our enemies Mario style and make our way through an over-world full of levels as well as secrets. Unlocking new levels require us to collect golden paper clips which there are 3 of in each level. You can either walk all the way to the area you want or you can simply teleport there. It's a really pretty looking over-world but it can be a bit poorly designed on some spots making it difficult to go to your destination. This is a friendly and simple game that feels like it is centered for children. It is an easy game, perfect for those just starting out with video games. It can be quite boring in fact if you have even a bit of experience with platformers though on the other hand it can also be relaxing. Along with the paper clips scattered around each level there is a golden button that unlocks a few mini-games if you collect enough. Most of the secrets are extremely easy to find so it wouldn't be abnormal if you finish the game with everything collected. Controls feel a bit funky at first though it didn't take long to get used to them. For most of the levels the most you can do is simply jump and run your way through obstacles. Annoyingly enough the jumping sound effects are very out of place and sounds like you are playing as a squishy blob. You can double jump and take three hits from your enemies before biting the dust and being sent back to a checkpoint. It's not much of a punishment since you keep everything that you have collected and they give out extra lives like candy. Your enemies range from dinosaurs, cacti and sombrero wearing spiders. They don't chase you or actively try to harm you, they just walk around a preset route and randomly attack at nothing. Jumping on enemies is not always a way to defeat them since as you may guess jumping right onto a cactus is not the best of ideas. At the end of each area there is a boss to fight that all require different methods to take down but are incredibly easy. Defeating one will get you a golden key which unlocks a new area for you to conquer. From time to time they throw in some neat gimmicks to spice things up such as sledding down a snowy mountain or commandeering a submarine. You'll also have access to a jetpack in one area which also gives you a laser gun to defend yourself with. Defeating enemies is not satisfying since there is a ton of delay from the moment you jump on them to the moment they flatten that just made it feel glitchy in my opinion. The mini games you can unlock are an endless vehicle section and a Runner type of game. It is a very per the rules type of game and there is nothing you haven't seen before or any unique ideas other than the artstyle. But wow, is the game pretty to look at and there are quite a few themes to go through. Levels are usually only a few minutes long and you can blast through this game in just a few hours. There is no real replay value unless you missed a few things or simply want to play it again for the sake of it. Story is paper thin (no pun intended) and barely something worth mentioning. There a few characters that are in the over-world but are just there to serve as breathing tutorials whose role could have easily been replaced by a sticky note. Music on the other hand is pretty stellar and a joy to listen to. There are “Super-Secret Levels” hidden around the over-world that have you collecting 20 pieces of candy though each one of the is mostly the same and are pretty boring. All in all Paper Monsters is a good game for children or those of us looking for a game to relax with but other than the artstyle there isn't anything else that separates it from the rest of the genre and as such may be less than stellar for those looking for a remarkable platformer.
Great little platformer, son loves this. Reminds me alot of Mario and I think they have taken many ideas from the Mario series, Really well put together, makes a nice change playing a decent platform game. My Score - 6/10
Nice casual and relaxed platformer with decent gameplay and a great art style.
