Experienced on the Oculus Quest 2
This is a nice-looking Boggle inspired game translated to VR. However, I just can't recommend it due to a bug which effected gameplay, the word choice in the game, and the puzzling scoring system So the bug is that sometimes when you try to touch a letter, nothing will happen. You can't select the letter at all. This is a game-breaking bug which will often lead to losing the round. Now, I did find a work-around and that is to click on submit. Usually that fixes the issue. The problem is that you are submitting a wrong answer. A simple game like this should not have this obvious bug that seriously effects gameplay (at least on the Oculus Quest 2 using link cable with Touch controllers). The second issue I have with this game is the word choice. I sometimes submitted words that it did not recognize, for example, Norse. It also has some very off the wall words included in game as secret words you have to solve for bonus points, such as "coalbin" or "yeans". Hats off to you if you have heard of those words. Lastly, the scoring system in this game is puzzling. Sometimes I would only answer one word and get almost the same score as when I solved 10 words. I don't get it. It needs a more intuitive scoring system with better feedback on your efforts. I know this game is only $4 bucks. And I would definitely recommend this game otherwise, but not with those issues mentioned above. Besides, I don't know that VR brings anything to this game really. The visuals are nice, but why not just play Boggle? Rate 4/10.
Please note: I received a free Steam key through the Steam Curator Connect program. This is a fun, interesting idea - as keeper of a bookshop, you have to fill in the blanks of missing words to satisfy your robot customers. To do that, you have a limited number of letter keys in front of you, like from an old typewriter. You can use every letter only once per word and have to serve a given number of robots in a short time frame. Between levels, you get to solve an anagram, which will unlock a new page in a kind of overarching story in form of a book. Unfortunately, as a non-native English speaker, I couldn't get past the 3rd level, as the difficulty picks up pretty quickly. Probably, I should put a thesaurus under my pillow :D
FANTASTIC FUN .... Its got the feeling of job simulator but mixed with Scrabble ... such a great mix , pick this up today link to my video https://youtu.be/Gy5vTgv6na0
This is literally Boggle but played with your hands mashing a giant keyboard instead of writing down the words. I haven't played Boggle in yearsss so wasn't anticipating to like Paper Jam as much as I did - but nearly an hour into playing I realized I didn't want to stop. Tested on a Quest 2 with link cable with some minor binding issues but nothing that could get in the way of enjoying the game
This is a great game. However, Developer, please give us a "Pause" button, so we can take a break during the longer rounds. Right now, you are not utilizing the "Menu" button on the HTC Vive controllers, so please make this a pause button so we can get a drink or use the bathroom during game play. Also, please consider adding more variety. Perhaps other Word games to supplement this game. Currently, while fun, it gets old during one sitting. So I only tend to play a few minutes per day before getting somewhat bored. You could implement Crossword Puzzles, Scrabble against A.I., perhaps local and online multiplayer Scrabble, et. al. Update 5/5/2021: Develops are very helpful! They fixed everything, even though the fixes were basic nuances rather than anything game breaking. I finished the game in ~ 12 hours. I had a ball solving all of those word puzzles. I found the game very addicting to play. I hope they make more games like this or keep providing some DLC's to play this one.
On paper (pun not intended) ‘Paper Jam!’ is a virtual job game in which you need to give your customers a missing word from each book they purchase from your store. Some of them want 3,4,5, or even more letter words while others want more than one word, so you type them out with your robotic hands on a giant typewriter in front of you. It is very much like the classic word game Boggle in which you need to make as many words as you can with the letters in front of you. It’s silly, it’s fun, but it does look pretty good and it is cheap after all. Fans of word-puzzle games will enjoy this and it is a good laugh, but there isn’t a whole lot of variety when it comes to the gameplay, but you should still get your money’s worth.
Words are hard. So play Paper Jam and learn the vocabulary you always dreamed of having. Anagram your way to a thesaurus-like retention of all the words from A to...... 9. There's stress level of ramping waves. It's a Kiosk game. But it's fun. If you like word games then it's worth a punt at £1.69. Will be going back to this.
