Reviews
On a 2-3 year basis the devs decide that the path forward is not viable to actually launch the product and take everything back to the drawing board. Playing the various pre-alphas over the years there have been many versions of Pantheon, and none of them have been remotely complete or fully thought out, including this one. Class mechanics have been thought up, implemented, thrown out on loop for years, which matches with the lack of general design and focus of the game. While I have no doubt in my mind that the people behind this game are trying, from the outside it does feel as if a lack of direction and management has had this project floundering in the shallows for a decade, with no sign of getting any better in the near future. Only buy if you are documenting the weird history of this game, there are far better actual game alternatives to what you're looking for otherwise than this mess.
Don't bother, this game is a pathetic waste of time.. Devs spend more time tweaking abilities and pointless crap rather than making a rock solid foundation - the UI and its mechanics is grade school stuff and just the basic MMO functionality is missing which makes the game a chore to play and clunky.. This game will die well before any kind of release.

Not worth it. Development is glacially slow and despite tons of feedback from the playerbase, the devs are not very receptive to it. Wanted to support an old school MMO, but this one ain't it, and will be likely dead on arrival if it's ever finished.
-too slow, literally just grind mobs forever, no direction -weird keybinds, can't bind some types of spells/attacks to every bar -4070ti sitting at 99% for no reason I get it, it's an oldschool mmo and things should be slow. But this is silly
I regret having to leave a bad review. The game has potential but I don't think the devs know what they're doing. In stead of fleshing out the content they're just re balancing skills. They should be adding more early-game content. Adding more quests for 1-20 in stead they added a new high level zone. There aren't even skills available at the level of that zone. Beyond like level 30 there are no new skills for players to use. The game would be great if they just added more content. They need to add more PoIs, more dungeons and more quests. They talk about all of this high-level lore but there is very little in-game to substantiate it outside of locations. Why not take the dark souls approach and attach flavor text to location-unique items that give a bit of backstory to the area? Why not have journal entries lying around? If you want this game to be full of lore at least try to make it accessible. Why not make rangers have a sort of bestiary that they can fill out to learn more about the creatures in an area? Just add more content, real content and the game will be good. In stead of adding a new zone in the endgame, why not finish Thronefast city? Which sits blocked off, unfinished right outside a starter town? Sure maybe get some bare-bones content up to max level. A zone for each level range and a handful of quests. But start at the beginning. Make the 1-15 experience better. If you don't nobody will care about anything after it.
Pantheon: Rise of the Fallen has surprised me in the best way. This review reflects the game as it is in Early Access, so I’m not judging bugs or unfinished features. I’m talking purely about the feeling it gives — and honestly, it’s the closest thing I’ve felt to playing WoW Classic for the first time. The combat is polished and responsive, the graphics are genuinely nice, and the world feels like it actually respects my time and my brain. It doesn’t hold my hand, but it also doesn’t punish me unfairly. It expects me to pay attention, explore, and learn — and that’s refreshing. And the community… probably the friendliest and most helpful player base I’ve ever met in an MMO. People actually talk, help, group up, and make the world feel alive. If you want a modern MMO that brings back that old-school sense of discovery and adventure, Pantheon is worth keeping an eye on as it grows.
Poor communication, missed deadlines, and unpaid volunteers being condescending via steam discussions.
If you want your traditional questing and going from point A to point B, questing to get to the end game main content which is the bread and butter; example WoW Classic or Guild Wars 2, you already won't like Pantheon. This isn't a game you get a mount within two hours or is it a game with a map within loading into the World telling you where everything is an holding your hand quest to quest. They don't take ANY modern day approaches. Instead they are trying to make a game that most haven't experienced. A Hardcore MMO. This game right out of the gate of spawning in, doesn't tell you where you are, who to talk too, or what to do. Everything is designed to encourage you the player to make decisions based off your own curiosity an intuition. And it works. It can be very easy to just say there's no content when you do a quick glance over of the game, but all the content is there you just have to explore an find it. So what does Pantheon do well? Exploration. Every move you make in this game matters, you are absorbing every path you take, where every enemy is, an always trying to find that next spot that helps you get to that next level. Once you achieve Level 5 the real game starts, now when you die everything on you in your bags and money will be dropped on your corpse, so if you went too far from you last spawn you set(binding stone) an can't remember where you went, most likely your stuff is gone. It sets in really quick when you lose a body of gear you will most likely never find again unless luck is on your side. Every single armor upgrade in this game you will always remember. Never once during your entire experience is it easy to obtain gear. You have to work for gear an earn it. Not just from rare drops but also from crafting it. This isn't a game full of filler gear where 90% of it is irrelevant, it all is meaningful. From level 1-50 you will always be looking for that next upgrade to get to the higher levels. You will never find another MMO, where you calculate your decision making an time, because in this game when you die you also lose experience an can lower your level. It is probably the most brutal MMO on the market in terms of they don't care about your time, yes it's a slow burn grind. Can't say it isn't, so enjoy every single level, don't try to rush through it instead see it as age. Do we want to in real life try to zoom through the years to see the end? Or appreciate every single level along the way? An if you are worried they won't reward your time you are wrong, every level you obtain an skills and gear will always be rewarding and you will feel yourself slowly becoming stronger, faster, an more knowledgeable of the Land. if you ever are stuck in this game as well as to what to do next, the community is super tight an connected an willing to help out anyone, never once ran into anyone sour in this game on PvE. If the player count is discouraging you from playing, they have full servers to join to where the game will feel alive. My advice would be, wait for the Spring update that brings in a ton of quality of life changes, an will make this game even more exciting to jump into. In conclusion, this is an extremely fresh new approach of a way to play an mmo, I understand if you feel it's a little to hardcore, there's plenty of other mmo's to play that you will have fun with. This is catering to something old school mmo's did an the recipe still works in 2026
Dead servers, no one is playing. Game was murdered with the last few updates
Its so wild to see a game in development for so many years... so many people have donated thousands of dollars to the development of this and will never see any form that many be considered complete. This is a project that had so much potential and gave hope to so many people.. but all of the drive is lost. We've finally come to a point where the developers have accepted what is happening. Disregarding the promises that were made to people over 2 decades ago.. The money was obviously squandered and minimal progress is made. If you are the type that has to dedicate your life to something regardless of value and progress.. this is the game for you. For the rest of us that heard hope of this game from our parents... this game is dead. Every minimal update caters to the current followers. It hate to write this.. i had a lot more hope.. but nearly half my life has been waiting for this.. for something to hold into. this isnt it.
