If you want to get angry, play this game
I don't know why would anyone play games to feel even more stress than real life already brings, but apparently a lot of people do, as there is now a subgenre called Masocore, made famous by a certain game called Super Meat Boy, which I have never played and never will play now that I got a taste of this kind of suffering. Unfortunately the developer of the wonderful, chill and relaxing Polyroll thought it was a good idea to mix the nostalgia of the 90's from Sonic with the hellish nightmare of this Masocore genre. The result is Panic Porcupine, a game made for you to raise your anger, stress, and feel a lot of hate lingering inside you even after you actually clear the levels and their challenges. The soundtrack is really good, I enjoyed a lot the homages to the SEGA Sonic levels. I could recognize some of the old beats and that was probably the only positive feeling I got from this title aside from some chuckles here and there with the game's twisted sense of humour. Overall, despite the negative sentiments the game brought to me, it was still engaging enough that I beat it all and cleared the 100%. I will give a thumbs up to support the developer since I still have faith in them to bring once again a chill, dreamlike experience like that of Polyroll instead of this cruel and nightmarish adventure of Panic Porcupine. 7/10
IF PANIC PORCUPINE HAS NO HATERS, I'M NO LONGER ALIVE CRIPPLING muscle memory issues abound because X is the roll button. If you change it to Down you can't use Down in the menus, or the spinning pole things, or anything else that would use Down normally idk. This DESTROYS me. It's like if you made a Mario game where the run button is R, and made it separate from the fireball button and there was NO way to make them the same button like normal. Please do not do the do that
Wish I could leave a neutral review. I wouldn't say this game is a negative, but I had a pretty bad experience with it compared to all my friends that have tried it. This game is difficult, which isn't a bad thing (I like a bit of challenge in my games), but the execution could use some work. The balancing of the game is all over the place, world 4 was absolutely miserable to get through and then I did world 5 and 6 in a day each. Maybe it's a bit better if you don't go for 100%, idk. It just felt that for a few stages, getting through was more down to luck than any actual improvement in skill, which isn't what you want in a game. Trying to jump through a diagonal corridor of sawblades is just not fun at all lol, and some of the mechanics feel unintuitive. I was stuck for a while on a part until I realized you need to hold the jump button or your momentum is just gone. I also encountered a few bugs, which I didn't see anyone else talk about. I'd sometimes get stuck in a permanant slime state, allowing me to jankily wall jump in midair, and I clipped through the floor to my death a few times. The game will also just softlock if you complete a level and die at the same time, which happened like 5 times on the second to last stage, forcing me to alt f4. But the game's not all bad, it's got fairly good visuals, soundtrack, and the levels that didn't take me an hour were honestly pretty fun. It's at least worth a try if you're looking for a sonic-like experience.
♥♥♥♥ this game it's absurdly good but ♥♥♥♥ this game LMAO

Very nice and fun game
One of these "I wish you could put a neutral review on steam" games. The game is not bad per se but it tries to be Sonic and a precision platformer at once and well... it doesn't really work. At first I really enjoyed the game and had fun collecting all the eggs (even tho they kinda kill the pace of the game) but then I reached World 4 and... oh my. The chainsaws are horrendous, the constant noise they make forced me to play the game mute and the level design around them is really not good. The cycles are all over the place and the fact that the physics have this weird inertia make for very frustrating levels because everything is made harder because of said physics. All in all I had an okay time but be wary, if you think you gonna play a chill, indie Sonic-like, you gonna end up being disappointed, it's more of a precision platformer with a goofy Sonic skin. So I can't really recommend it unless you're a hardcore platformer fan and like weird, somehow challenging games.
It's not a bad game, but I'm not enjoying as I enjoyed the other company's game (Polyroll). This one doesn't work very well. The mechanics are confusing, that pole mechanic is very frustrating. Having to time which side you are going to leave the pole is not fun. Sonic games solved this by allowing you to choose the side by just pressing the D-pad. Also, I don't understand why those games resist in allowing rolling by pressing down the D-pad. Same thing happened in Polyroll. You have to press a button and not D-pad down, which would feel more natural. I'm not downvoting because this is a creative game and has a good sense of humor, but it could be better.
I loved this game. In my opinion, it's one of the best platformers in recent years. Panic has some really clever level design, great gameplay, and it's challenging in a good way. The last boss rush was a thrilling final challenge where everything you had learned during your journey was put in the test. The only thing I didn't enjoy were the pole mechanics as the timing was always a bit off for me. There were also a few times a glitch where I fell through the platform. Still, I can easily recommend this game, especially if you are a fan of the old 2D Sonic games.
Punishing precission platformer inspired by Sonic the Hedgehog. Gameplay is centred around short levels usually revolving around a unique gimmick or evolution of a previous one. Surprising variety throughout the entire game. Difficulty can be a bit erratic, with some levels being harder than later ones. The final levels will harshly test your Panic skills. Controls are tight and simple. There's not a lot to learn regarding moving the character, with the game relying more on using tools and mechanics offered by the environment. I found the music rather mediocre. Some times it approaches being good but it's not quite there. Graphics are colourful and the level designs are very Sonic-like.
