More of a Alien Shooter 1.5 than 2 or 3, but it's a pretty solid foundation. My two biggest gripes are somewhat lacking OST compared to OG Sigma Team games and pretty short campaign (survival mode is only two stages and disappointingly easy). Maybe it's possible to add something like a gun stats randomizer mod for survival?
My initial reaction to first playing this game was "Oh hey, it's an Alien Shooter inspired game! That's cool." But after playing a few stages, yeah it's an Alien Shooter inspired game on the surface, but it doesn't have the charm, just the shooting. It's not a bad game, but it gets a little repetitive and boring after a while as there's no dialog. just "there be aliens. Kill 'em." I think I've just been spoiled by Alien Shooter: Vengence (aka Alien Shooter 2, or the only available rendition of it now being "Alien Shooter 2: Reloaded") with its storied campaign. All-in-all, not a bad game if you just want a simple isometric horde shooter that kills time.
A Faithful Alien Shooter-Style Game, but It Still Needs Work
Palpus X Annihilation is clearly inspired by Alien Shooter, and it recreates that style remarkably well. The overall feel is convincing, the combat has satisfying impact, and the enemy designs are generally well executed. However, several areas still need significant improvement. If the developers intend to continue supporting the game, I hope they will consider the following points:
✘ Problems

The UI looks cheap and unfinished. It lacks visual consistency and makes the game feel much less polished than it could be.
Please stop relying on machine translation, especially for Chinese. Many buttons and interface elements are mistranslated to the point that their original meanings are completely distorted.
The background music often feels inappropriate. It does not synchronize well with enemy encounters or the timing of enemy spawns. As a result, it weakens the atmosphere instead of enhancing it.
The economy and weapon progression need to be reworked. Most weapons are simply given to the player, which significantly reduces the difficulty and removes much of the sense of progression. Ammunition also has little economic value because it can easily be collected during missions, making the option to purchase it largely unnecessary.
Secrets have almost no guidance. They are extremely difficult to locate without randomly searching every corner of the map. Some subtle environmental clues would make exploration more rewarding and less frustrating.
The highest difficulty setting is still not particularly difficult. Players looking for a serious challenge may find the game too forgiving.
The story is almost nonexistent. The game provides so little context that I often had no idea who the bosses were, why I was fighting them, or what role they played in the overall conflict.

✔ Positives

[]The combat feedback is satisfying. []The enemy and creature designs are quite good.
The game successfully captures the general style and atmosphere of Alien Shooter.
It looks promising modern alfa or beta watered down version of Alien Shoot. Found a secret where i got stuck on level 4 therefore the negative review. Otherwise, i loved Alien shooter 2 : Vengeance back at the time, so anyone who played it and loved it , should try this one.
Надеюсь у разработчика хватит сил и ресурсов продолжить разработку и дать нам вторую часть.
This review goes for every Alien Shooter, one of the first games I ever played ;) As for Palpus X Annihilation - It manages to recreate the same feeling as old Alien Shooter did, only more modern, smooth gameplay. Music is also top tier for the gameplay just like the old games. Thank you Sebastian!
Very good.
