This is quite the new perspective on the rhythm game genre
(Pun totally intended)
Jokes aside, Overpass is one of the most interesting rhythm games I've found this year, so much so that I literally couldn't sleep peacefully in bed without this game being in my library. The gameplay in Overpass seems weird and confusing to understand when you first look at it, but once you figure out what you're supposed to do, it really made me go "Oh my god that is really clever". In Overpass, your goal is to hit directional notes that are attached to various environmental objects. The game will also challenge you to hit these notes while they're obstructed, encouraging the player to read the object's shape, movement, and/or orientation, which becomes a handy skill for the player to utilize! There are also lamps, which can look like street lamps or hanging lights. They have no directional notes on them, and are an optional note to hit for an extra challenge and higher score. What I like about the main mode "Discovery" is that it's basically a choose your own adventure game. You're able to choose which level to take on, and at the end, you get to review the whole journey you made, and you're able to play "Discovery" again to start at the beginning again and try out other paths you haven't explored yet! Oh, and of course, Overpass has a level editor, which basically increases this game's life by 10x, and gives opportunity for the community to discover how high the game's skill ceiling can truly be! and like any rhythm game I ever find, there's one rule I give to rhythm games with custom editors: If it has a custom editor, it MUST play Camellia :3 (Which surprisingly hasn't been made in the Overpass workshop yet!) Overall, I REALLY enjoyed this rhythm game. I absolutely love the concept of this game, and Studio Bean really nailed the feeling of being a kid of looking out the car window during a road trip and watching the bridges, powerlines, and street lamps fly across your view. I hope this game gets some more attention, because WOW this game was a hidden gem.

Super fun hypnotic reaction rhythm game. Has a bit of a steeper learning curve and is very focused on reading skills but man it feels amazing once you can get into it. Solid music too that matches game play really well. Its crazy to me that there aren't more reviews. Definitely underrated for how much fun this is.
I remember being utterly enthralled with the concept of this game, when it came out I played it without blinking for way too long I think. The first time I hit the beat on a shooting star I felt immersed in a way I haven't felt in many games since. 10/10

While it's a good rhythm game, it doesn't take into account nearsighted people like me. Some targets end up whooshing past me too quickly for me to hit them, unseen tall structures may block the view of incoming targets, and some targets have a rhythm that doesn't exist in the main songs. I recommend this game if you have a sharper focus than I do, even if I sometimes struggle. Edit: I found out you have a lot of freedom with the options. But I still sometimes do feel a bit motion-sick on some levels.
The most aesthetic rhythm game.
great game. love it
