Do you like detective games? Then you'd definitely enjoy this one, where you are the one who committed a murder and tries to frame other people for it. Overboard is a reverse detective game set in 1935, where you have to get away with murder as Veronica Villensy, one starry night on a beautiful cruise, pushed her husband overboard. The next morning, she had only a few hours to frame someone on board and hide any evidence related to her, starting from 8 AM until 4 PM. https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3656538588 The fun part of this game is that you can keep replying to it with the memories of the previous ending, and you'll get a set of new objectives the next playthrough. Veronica's responses will be different, and she'd take different actions. She can lie, make people fall in love with her, or even blackmail them after finding important evidence in their cabins. The game has a high replay value, and each ending is funnier than the others. You'll learn her intentions; she doesn't just want to kill her husband; she is after his life insurance, and of course, you can't make it look like a suicide. https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3047084503 The gameplay is more like a time-management game, where each action costs some of the few hours you have before they discover your missing husband, and you move from one place to another. Each hour, the characters on the cruise would change their locations, and speaking to them might help, waste time or make them suspect you, but if you are lucky, you'd get an alibi. The artwork is cute and simple, the responses are fun, but if you lie, you need to remember your lies, especially when they investigate you. I enjoyed the soundtracks so much; they fit the atmosphere of the 30's. https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3656536281 Pros: +Reverse detective story. (You are the murderer) +Choices and consequences. +Good soundtracks. +Good voice-overs in cutscenes. +Multiple endings. +New objective in each gameplay. +High reply value. +Steam achievements. Conns: -No Manual save. The game is short but has high replay value. The more you play, the more you'll learn about the characters and know how to deal with each one. I liked this mechanic so much. I highly recommend this game to people who enjoy detective VN games with a time-management twist. It's less about deduction and more about bluffing your way through with sheer nerve. A stylish little game of elegant deception and juggling alibis.
I feel like I should like this game more, but sadly I just can’t recommend it. The concept behind the game is good and original, but the execution falls flat for me. The goal is to repeat the same short story loop with minor variations and try to get away with murder. Unfortunately, the short loop duration combined with the limited cast of characters means you end up grinding through the same interactions over and over again in search of better results. The first few playthroughs were interesting, and the game is clearly made with passion, but when you’re playing the same scene for the seventh time, already knowing which dialogue to choose, the game’s charm starts to fade. I was also annoyed by the occasionally overly strict time limits during the game. These are apparently intended to create a sense of panic for the player, which works well at first, but as the repetitions increase, this just starts to get on your nerves. As a fan of visual novels, I’m used to being able to read the dialogue at my own pace and progress at my own speed, but in this game, you must stay on your toes the whole time. In terms of difficulty, the game is relatively easy, but certain story paths require multiple attempts and mistakes. This isn’t helped by the fact that the game’s characters are rather dull (partly due to the game’s fast pace), so uncovering their secrets isn’t exactly motivating. Playing the game felt more like a chore than a pleasure, and that's never a good sign. 2/5
Overboard is a neat little title that turns the "Whodunit" genre on its head and makes it into a "Youdunit". The story is simple: You decided to murder your husband during your trip to America in the early 30s and it is now your job to cover it up until you reach port and make a new life for yourself. What starts out very interesting and ends in just a short run of about 10-15 minutes becomes essentially a timeloop where you replay the game over and over as the game gives you hints to figure out the going-ons on the ship and eventually know the game in and out to the point that you can get away with not just murder, but perhaps even more than that. The game was quite interesting to me at first but I quickly grew bored of it because of how short each run is. It feels frustrating and arbitrary in many ways where it feels like it is trial and error, and it is quite literally impossible to actually "get away with it" on your first run due to how many roadblocks are put in your way and get you caught. After a while I just started looking up a guide on how to do things and found out that you really just have to do things in a SPECIFIC way and in a certain timeframe with little deviation to get the BEST ending, and I feel like if there is only this one specific way to actually fully beat the game in the way that the developer's decide gets you to the credits, is a bit of a gut punch. it doesn't distract from what is essentially a good game and its still for sure recommended to be bought and played, especially thanks to the stunning visuals and art direction at play. But the magic doesn't last forever and the game's flaws become more obvious with each subsequent run.
• Zaobserwuj mojego kuratora Steam, jeśli lubisz takie gry. • Każda reakcja daje mi energię do pisania kolejnych recenzji.

Overboard! - pozbądź się męża, nawiąż romans i zgarnij pieniądze z ubezpieczenia
Uniknij kary za zabójstwo. W taki sposób można dosłownie przetłumaczyć podtytuł tej gry. A mowa o Overboard! - nietypowej produkcji o zarządzaniu czasem, opowiadającej o Veronice Villensey, która podczas rejsu do Ameryki w latach 30. XX wieku wypycha za burtę męża. Powód? Raczej mało wyszukany, ponieważ chodzi o pieniądze i zazdrość. A kogóż to przetrzymuje w swoim pokoju Carstairs? Produkcja miewa swoje zabawniejsze momenty i jest pozbawiona ciężaru jakiegokolwiek dramatu - chociaż trudno poczuć do Veroniki sympatię, równie trudno żałować Malcolma.
A cheeky but enjoyable time loop, mystery solving game. The writing itself is fairly mediocre, but it's fun the way the game has pieced together a puzzle out of figuring out which actions to take, where, and in which order. The game leaves a lot of room for improvement, being rather clunky, and wasting a lot of the player's time with retreading the same ground clicking relentlessly through slow moving conversations in order to choose one different choice. But it's a short and fun romp with a likeable protagonist that is refreshingly a bit more than a blank slate. Overall the game is fine, possibly somewhat disappointing given how barebones the execution of the core premise is, but is still quite fun to initially explore. The premise itself does a lot of heavy lifting to an otherwise somewhat lackluster set of gameplay mechanics and clunky menus.
A wonderful "detective" game where you're the murderer with multiple routes to take as is the norm with Inkle games. I mean, this is just another lovely game from Inkle, I loved 80 Days and adored A Highland Song. I highly recommend anything these people do.
Excellent little timeloop game. If you like the structure of something like Outer Wilds, and the aesthetics of an Agatha Christie novel, I really don't think I could recommend anything more!
