No remarkable journey is achieved without great effort. In Outward, the cold of the night or an infected wound can be as dangerous as a predator lurking in the dark. Explore the vast world of Aurai solo or in Co-op. The Definitive Edition features both DLCs and quality of life improvements.

Prices
Each in the currency that store quoted — not converted: the gap between two rows is the publisher's pricing, not an exchange rate.
Availability
We put this game to every storefront we collect. A market that answered not sold has told us something about the game; a market we never asked has not, and the two are never drawn the same.
Discounts
Every price cut of more than 20% we have observed, in each market that quoted one, with this game's chart position on either side of it. These are episodes, not a model: a sale is one event, and one event cannot tell you what the next one will do.
Reviews, worldwide (the counter carries no country): 2.57/day in the week to Jul 30 → 4.29/day in the week after.
For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 24 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 9 places towards #1, and the 2,419 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.

Reviews
It cost less than a fiver but I regret spending even that. The graphics are relatively crude and it's far from an open world, hemmed in by unscalable cliffs everywhere. The World is indeed huge but sparsely furnished so travel is tedious. Combat is very difficult with a character underpowered by default and this is exacerbated by a rather obscure skill progression, unaffordable because loot is worth diddly squat, the absence of saves and by the 'snakes & ladders' mechanic which sends you back to the start after a defeat. I have other games that I find hard, but I still play for interest. As Outward's quests cannot be abandoned (or even avoided in some cases) I have reached an impasse so this is the first game ever that I shall wipe from my PC as I think it is literally a waste of (storage) space.
The reviews were clear. If you're on the fence, don't get it. It's hard to say this game is hard when it glows on any little object you can pick up, and you just don't even see a world anymore. You just see glows and loot objects. That's not ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ hard. But, hey, the plants don't glow like that. That's just inconsistent. And then is the game hard or not? because I can't die. It doesn't make any sense. I was gonna go fight these things and kill them, but then they killed me, but they didn't kill me because everyone's really nice to me. I'm just the biggest baby in the world. Everyone loves me. no one will hurt me. They'll knock me out. They'll drag me away. They'll waste some of my time, but no one will ever kill me. So if you wanna play this hand holding baby game that pretends it's hard, I won't stop you. It's your money. I should have listened to the reviews that said don't get this game.

14 of 15 markets; the rest we haven't asked for this title, not markets where it is unavailable.
14 on sale1 answered “not sold”0 we did not ask
The 1 “not sold” market is read from the Steam price pass of Sep 20: that day the store answered for this game elsewhere and gave no price there. The 14 priced markets are the same rows as the table above — each the latest price we hold, dated here when it is older than that pass. The 0 marked “not asked” were not put to this store at all — either it has no storefront there or we do not collect it yet, and neither is a statement about the game. A refusal is a refusal on one day; a store can list a title again tomorrow.

Decent souls like, but little unpolished around the edges. Looks don't matter, I have played games with worse graphics on older machine. Fun once you understand it!
If I had a ward for every out, i'd have 1 ward. Because OUtwawrd
Weirdly, I am giving this game a thumbs up, even though I don't really recommend it. This is because I DO recommend waiting for Outward 2, instead. This game is basically a proof of concept, but needs a ton of refinement. Tl;dr - The core concept of the game rules. It has great survival mechanics, really making use of food, drink, and sleep, as well as a cool backpack system. Preparing to go on a big, dangerous journey is fun. The journey itself is solid, but held back by how janky and unfun the combat is. The destinations you will find yourself at after a successful journey are painfully underwhelming, and leave me asking if it was worth doing at all. + Great use of hunger, thirst and rest mechanics + The best backpack system I have ever experienced. I truly love it + A true focus on the JOURNEY you are going on + Preparing for you first big journey is a joy + Trying to safely get to your destination is exciting + Some of the most fun consequences to "failure" outside of Kenshi - The destinations at the end of the journey are lackluster and take the wind out of my sails - The combat is too unfun and janky for how difficult and consequential it is - Towns and NPCs feel dead and bland. They are basically glorified menus - Trying to get better gear to go on more dangerous journeys just isn't a satisfying core mechanic when the combat itself is so bland and janky. - The world itself isn't gorgeous enough or interesting enough to really sell the "It's about the journey, not the destination" ethos the game seems to have. I think Outward is an amazing "proof of concept." It is an action RPG that puts the JOURNEY first. It's not a survival craft game where you're doing everything to upgrade a base, it's not a souls-like where you are just butting heads with the same enemy until you can move on to the next area. It's not an open world questing game like Elder Scrolls. The whole game is truly about PREPARING for a journey, then going on it, full of risk and reward. You don't die in this game. You get knocked out and then thigns happen to you. Once you go down, the goal isn't to "Go back to where you got killed and kill the thing that killed you." Often it's not even about trying to retrieve your loot. It's about learning lessons from that failed journey, then trying your hand at it again. The potential things that can happen to you when you are knocked out, such as being kindapped and osld into a slave mine, keeps things ever changing and exciting. However, the game is JANKY. This is why I called it an amazing proof of concept. The combat just isn't very fun at all, nor are the enemies particularly fun to fight. This makes this risk of failure push me away from even engaging in combat. The most fun I had with the game was just carefully making my way from the starter town to the next one over, avoiding combat at all costs. The reward for reaching your destination is also underwhelming. Towns are bland and lifeless, full of NPCs that serve little purpose outside of being a shop or training menu. Basically, if Outward 2 takes the premise of this game, refines the combat, and fills the world with more exciting things to discover and decent NPCs to interact with, it could be something TRULY special.
