WHO MAKES AN RPG WITH NO JUMP BUTTON?!
Like elden ring but without the fun parts.
This game is really good. Its problem is that it doesn't do a good job of explaining the hell you're about to jump into. This is a very niche, (in the beginning) very difficult and demanding game. It will not tell you what to do 90% of the time. It will not show you where to go most of the time. You will get molly-whopped in combat at various stages of the game - if you've played and enjoyed games like DS or Elden Ring, you might have more luck here. I've played them all and still got my ass handed to me. Above all, it's not for everyone. But when you market yourself to everyone, you're inevitably going to end up with people who aren't a good fit and that's how you speedrun getting mixed/bad review scores. If you don't know which camp you're in, I would say give it a try. You'll definitely know if it is or isn't for you within the 2-hour Steam refund window. If you look past some of the faults it definitely has (too much walking without a ton to see, for example), it's a surprisingly fun game with a lot to do AFTER the main story concludes. I think most people try to explore right from the get-go when they're at their most vulnerable and un-surprisingly get rolled by something they're not prepared to face. Gear is everything in Outward. Skill and abilities definitely make a difference, don't get me wrong. But no matter how good you are, getting one-shot by something is always frustrating. And without gear, that's what you can expect. I should add, once you're geared for the area your current main quest is in, exploration and survival is much more manageable. There are some really tough places in the first area that will still be difficult after finishing the main quest-line, depending on, of course, your gear.
Good game. there were a few areas of the game I would have preferred structured differently. I died a lot. But it is a classic somewhat. Fun.
so this game was beyond garbage, NO map tracker WHICH IS MOST ANNOYING ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ i died 15 dies within 30 minutes mind you, I've soloed dark souls 1 to 3 and Elden Ring and many many other souls likes. THIS GAME hit detection sucks, Dodging can't cancel ATTACKS blocking can't also cancel attacks, your character lunges forward, rendering the point of spears pointless.... ENTIRE point of a spear is a poke from appear but your character will step a whole 2 feet closer so within 3 attacks to complete a combo, YOUR IN HUGGING RANG OF THE person your attacking. STEMINA drain and HP drain is faster then most GAMES i've ever played and MODDING SENSE requires a massive hoop jumping to Fix these errors. I would of fix the map issue, i like having map trackers..... noooo its hand holding, brother and christ we place map markers in real life. so we'd know were 2 go. complete garbage not worth the money and worse yet it was a gift and it was unbearable.
