Outbreak: Endless Nightmares

I got a copy of this game to check out and there is a bit to unpack here. First of all, it's a game that's made by a single person (I believe) and it unfortunately shows that. It does pay homage to the 90s and early 2000s horror genre but feels very clunky and a bit too close to some other games. It has some direct copies of pieces of resident evil and uses similar items. Now, I love the idea of this game but there are a lot it would need to update for me to give it another crack. -The controls are very very clunky if I tried to move one way my character didn't exactly move the same way -There is really no story (at least not for the hour I managed to get through) and you just sort of pass through rooms fighting stuff. -Inventory piles up quick and I was playing on the easier mode but the chest full of stuff at the beginning of the level was almost never used because there wasn't much inventory space. I really want to like the game, but it just wasn't it for me. I'd revisit if the game got a bit more polished but right now it's a pretty definite no for me.

I should refund this game but I read that the developer is working on this by himself so I'll show some support. But I don't like the game. The controls aren't good. Mouse sensitivity doesn't change when you set it. The graphics aren't the best. Character animations are extremely slow. This feels like a mix of several different games. Cod zombies and Resident Evil immediately come to mind. You're dropped in and have no instructions, there's no story, and not much audio. I ran around talking to ghost and trying to enter barricades. But you need coins to enter those barricades so, how do you get coins? I don't know. What's going on? What are you supposed to do? I don't know. But I do know you shouldn't buy this game. The dev needs to fix the controls and add a tutorial or something. edit for the dev. I did change the sens and save it but it doesn't change in game. When you use the knife it is really slow to swing. You can hit the mouse button, get up and get a drink and sit back down before it swings. { sarcasm, it's not really that slow but its bad } Switching the camera angles didn't do anything. When you try to look around while aiming the character accelerates too fast. It's really jarring. You can't walk when aiming either. I played for a few more minutes but this game is really dull.

i gave it a shot, expected a playable game, Here's what i got in 5 minutes 1st when you right click to aim and then un-aim your character moves/tp to the right 2nd and giving this game in my opinion worse download in the last year is this bug. take your hand of the mouse and just try to run the characters aim gos all over the place and if you dont get back on the mouse and fight against it you will run in circles. thats right the characters aim has a mind of it own. Making it unplayable to me. and final things i woud not cre about if not for the first 2. Bad Graphics , Gun you can loot is 10x the size of the 1 in your hand. All loot is enlarged to the point a shotgun leaning on the wall is 2 times as tall as you, or a knife the size of your leg Story is just text on the screen

its ok, id like to know where the monsters are ie zombies. how does one take the boards down to access other rooms and routes. also where abouts are the conductors gold coins as i had not seen any. the game reminded me of resident evil with the use of plants and the layout of the inventory. if anyone knows what to do in this game please let me know.

What a joke. It won't even load. Just gives me a black screen for 5 minutes. no loading. Jesus, this game isnt that good and it still can't load right? The trash that steams lets on nowadays gives me no hope to gaming and steam futures. Gonna get a refund. Im tired of getting games on steam that don't work. Steam get yer act together and quality check this crap.

Reminds me so much of the old Resident Evil games. A fun horror throw back. Would recommend!

As a fan of both procedural generation in games and several of the previous games in the series I am sad to say that this is the first game in the series that I give a negative rating. The controls are just really REALLY bad in this one for some reason. The author of the game has included a lot of different movement and camera options in this game and I think that might have something to do with it. It's commendable that they want to appease fans of all the different survival horror control styles but in the end none of them feel good. The over the shoulder and first person views has the aiming feel really weird and choppy while the classic cinematic camera with tank controls feel really weird because the camera angles just aren't placed that well. Even in the hub world which I assume isn't randomly generated the camera angles hide many items from view. A smaller goal with larger focus put onto it would have greatly benefited it in this respect. There's some other downgrades from previous titles too like I remember headshots being implemented in one or two of the latter entries, but that's gone now it seems. I'll give the game another chance and update the review if the controls are ever fixed but for now, the game is just kind of a pain.

Changed review from positive to negative for one reason - This steam version of the game is abandoned. The EPIC store version got a huge update that never came to steam for whatever reason. Devs too busy plugging crappy lightgun and visual novel games instead.

If you like the early Res Evil series, 1 & 2 etc rough type games you will like this one, it is not as polished, but it does give that 2000 era type of atmosphere, graphic wise it is good giving an eerie look to the game, combat ok nothing special, buy it on sale not worth the £11.39 price tag it as in April 2026. I played it first in 2021, and now in 2026, nothing seems to have changed, it is worth a couple of hours of your time, but sadly not a classic.
