If you don't mind games that you have to restart back from the beginning because you get into a impossible situation with no ammo or health, then this is your game.
Disclaimer: I am one of the game's alpha testers, so I have some knowledge of inner workings that aren't known to other players. Due to this, I made a guide you can use if a puzzle stumps you. Good luck. Here we have the 4th installment in the Outbreak series, and just like New Nightmare was to the original, we have a large leap in multiple aspects. Gone are both the top down and fixed cameras for over the shoulder, and we now can aim our shots. Unfortunately, ammo here is more scarce than ever, so when you finally do shoot something, make it count. So first things first, this is by far the hardest title to date. You start off unarmed and unless you sequence break, you must get past the 2nd and 3rd fastest enemy types in the game to get the combination to get the handgun. Ammo is well hidden and in small quantities, so you will need to figure out which enemies you will be seeing a lot of when backtracking and killing them if you can't evade. Regarding enemies, there are 6 types to be had here: 3 zombies, then 3 familiars from previous titles that have been revamped. First, the Reptile has been turned from a tanky nuisance into an agile killer. Second, the Enforcer shows up in greater numbers than before and usually guard bottlenecks. Finally, the Brute is more tenacious than ever and usually guarding something you need to progress. These are not the monsters from early titles despite how they appear. As for graphics, they are a huge step up from the previous game. It is about what I expect from indie studios as they simply don't have the resources AAA devs do. Due to this being one large map, there is a greater focus on music, which can serve as a reminder that you are entering unfamiliar ground should you grow complacent. Lastly, light is limited, usually by a flashlight equipped to your guns or a nearby fire, so pay attention or something may creep up on you with you being none the wiser. Finally, if you're intimidated by this being the 4th game, the 3rd game was an arc break, so this game is friendly for new people to jump on board. The next game in the series will be picking up after this one, so this will get you in position to follow the upcoming titles if you like what you see here. Overall, I recommend the game, and the price can't be beat. You have a normal single player mode that will take around 3 hours to complete the first time. Beating it unlocks new modes, and you have an action focused Onslaught mode if that is more of your thing. There are far worse ways to kill a weekend, so if horror is your thing, this is worth the look.
É um bom jogo, chega a dar uns sustinhos
In the 4th installment in the Outbreak series the dev has done a good job of evolving the game on many levels. They seem to be on the right road of many good devs in that they are obviously using their money to further their game creation abilities as well as improving the games themselves, be it graphics, mechanics, engines, assets, story and overall gameplay. (though I'm not interested in F2p games so I'm not sure i'll be playing the next one). This however, as with the previous 3 is quite a nice and fun homage to the Resident Evil genre. The whole series so far has been certainly worth any money I've paid for them and I look forward to this developers continued evolution of both himself and his games. If you are into this genre this game, and the series in general, is certainly worth a spot in your libraries.
If you're a fan of survival horror games you'll want to pick up the newest entry in the Outbreak Series, Outbreak: Lost Hope. Featuring a 3rd-person free camera and over-the-shoulder gunplay, O:LH shows off Dead Drop Studios' continuous evolution of their game's engine while retaining the great production values and replayability of the series. Story mode is loaded with puzzles and monsters to battle, and the Onslaught mode lets you face off against wave after wave of creatures to see how long you can hold out. And best of all, the game runs natively on Linux and Mac, so you can play on your preferred platform!
This game is yet another genre homage from Outbreak studios. Outbreak Chronicles was a love-letter to RE1 while Outbreak New Nightmare was an homage to RE:Outbreak. This game plays homage to the Over-the-shoulder perspectives of RE4 and beyond. Unlike those, however, Outbreak has kept the same Survival Horror roots. If anything, I'd say it's even harder. Ammo--always at a premium in these games--is even scarcer as ever. Outbreak 2D's A.I. partner could eventually kill enemies if you were patient enough to shove enemies back. New Nightmare and Chronicles could just BARELY let you avoid enemies if you mastered the arc on the melee weapons. This game however offers none of that (unless you complete Onslaught and get a special knife). So much like the early RE titles, be prepared to juke like it's 1997 all over again. On the flip side, we no longer have respawning enemies like the top-down Outbreak or Outbreak: New Nightmare. This allows the pacing to be done at your rate. The game permits you to move and shoot at the same time--a first for the Outbreak series. Reloads can no longer be done in the inventory screen but only take about 1 second. There's a neat blood-splatter across the screen as your health dips lower, similar to how RE:Revelations did. It's a great touch and really ramps up the tension as your viewing area slowly shrinks down. For those of you who griped about the animations of New Nightmare and Chronicles--particularly the shooting animations--rest easy knowing this is a new engine. The game's atmosphere is nice. Your heroine's flash-light never runs out of battery and is set to more or less where your aim is. It's a nice touch that lots of modern games seem to have forgotten about. There is natural lightning from fires and even a few lights as well. What gives this game replayability is the triage camp you stumble into early on. You play as Gwen, searching for your cleverly-named daughter, Hope. Once you get to the triage camp, you get to sealed, see-through cases. They contain various weapons, supplies, and even inventory-limit boosters. However, you only have so many keys to use. So you have to make a decision whether or not you want to go for more firepower vs more inventory capacity. Similar to other RE titles, you have floppy disks that determine how often you can safe. If you're like me, do a few dry-runs and then go for it. For those of you who want more action-oriented play, there is the Onslaught Mode. It's similar to the Mercenaries/Raid Mode of later RE titles. Shoot, shoot, kill, kill is the name of the game here. As an added bonus, if you manage to do well enough on it, you CAN get a special knife that mulches most anything it touches. So if you want revenge on all those stupid zombies you ran from in the main game, now is revenge time. The make-or-break point on this game is going to be how you respond to enemies. If you want to kill most of the things you run into, this game is going to test your patience. If you have no problems evading, kiting, and luring enemies away this game will come more naturally to you. All enemies have a set distance they will follow you before trundling back to their starting position. As always, the effort of the SOLO INDIE dev is impressive. Looking at the pseudo-Flash animation of Outbreak 2D to the late-era PS2, early-era PS3 graphics of Outbreak New Nightmare to the over-the-shoulder view of Lost Hope, it's clear he makes strides every game as opposed to milking the franchise for easy money.
Im sorry dude. It hard for me to give a negative vote to an indie game, but holy crap! This is terrible! You can start a freaking game on a locked scenario by CHAINS... and have to solve 3 puzzles with codes and note, walking one way to the other with the worst animation of waking i have ever seen in my life! Whats with the arms movement?! Whats going on with her legs?! Why she makes 3 step but move only 1? The floor is jelly? Jesus man! Fix this and i will buy it again. Im refounding, sorry. This is not playable. Pissed me off.
Pretty mediocre survival horror game. -cheap -low fov and weird perspective -performance quite weak especially for those graphics -extremly low stamina -you can't kill enemies with the pistol or the smg, only knock them down for a really short time, only shotgun, magunm (and grenade launcher) can actually kill which is a really dumb concept. You do get a lot of ammo for the pistol (at least on easy) but its kinda useless as you cant kill with it. I'd rather get less ammo but then can actually kill enemies. -item box and "save station" are often not in the same room and they aren't enough of them which makes you backtrack quite a lot -gun play is mediocre at best and aiming is very inprecise with the laser
Absolutely great game - all those positive reviews are definetely not trolling you - you can trust them the game is a polished AAA game that will put Resident Evil series to shame there is an amazing variety of zombies in this game - one male and one female and... ummm yeah that is it - just two skins... so yes it will amaze you and make your jaw drop to the ground you will love every second of this 3 hour experience that could easily take 2 hours or even 1 hour if it wasnt artificialy streched out and make you run from one end of the map back to the other end. It is definetely not some shameful attempt to mask just how utterly short this thing is - it is a trippe A game design that other major developers should learn from Also - it would be the best thing if this game would last only 1 hour but then you could just refund it and we just cant have that The game was made by one dude so I shouldnt be hard on his work - that is what I thought when I was pressing Quit and preparing to write a positive review saying how it is a clunky little game that is an admirable attempt by a solo developer to create an indie Resident Evil-like game I was like - ok for 1$ you can treat it as a guilty pleasure but then I looked at the price tag and how much he is charging for this piece of crap and I was "F**k me - you have to be f**king kidding me dude" I had to go back and check how much I paid for it but luckly I bought at 90% discount and I strongly recommend that you dont even buy it then if you want a good Resident Evil clone from indie developer then play Daymare instead of just stick with the RE games if you value your time
