So, I'm playing this game to complete a challenge I was given. This game crashed on me the first time I beat the big boss for the first two chapters. It would get me to the loading screen after I clicked the diamond and then when I go to select the next level, it brings me back to the start menu where I am forced to start a new game. EDIT: I think this is a built-in game feature cause it also did this for the third chapter boss. If so, I don't think it should be in the game. I know this is a rogue-like game, but you already restart after each death, why force you to restart after you beat a chapter boss for the first time? Other than that, I do kinda like the game, but that feature just makes it not fun.
Easily the worst game I have ever finished. Nothing works. Everything is janky and inconsistent. The only time you can feasibly enjoy this game is when you are powerful enough to ignore the constant inconsistent garbage it throws at you. The hitboxes are garbage (poorly made AND inconsistent, despite what people will tell you about them being one or the other), the gameplay is incredibly glitchy (heaven forbid you want to use the Lesson that replaces your roll with a teleport and actually want to teleport anywhere without it simply failing to work for no reason at all the first five times), the items are incredibly samey-feeling and mostly rubbish, making every run samey-feeling and mostly rubbish, the bosses are either pushovers or ludicrously unfair (often both), and if you manage to struggle through all that... you get to unlock Hard Mode, which takes every single problem this game has and turns it up to eleven! And, just for fun, it's unlocked via a Lesson... that costs a massive chunk of your Class Periods! That's right: hardmode COSTS YOUR UPGRADE SLOTS TO ENABLE. And those are just a few of the utterly braindead game design decisions I would say this horrific game has if I had any faith in the idea that this game was designed at all. Yes, that's right: this game is the single best argument against Intelligent design I have ever had the misfortune to experience. And that's without getting into the utter madness of the actual coding of this dumpsterfire of a... thing. Trust me, you don't want to know.

The lore, story, aesthetic, and premise were super compelling! Unfortunately, the gameplay is not. I'm a wimp and not particularly GOOD at action roguelikes, but even I could tell pretty quick that it was really, really not good. The controls are clumsy and Cordy's slow, slow speed was only matched by her equally slow and absolutely tiny bullets. Combat is extremely clunky and difficult, especially with the enemy's HP pools. It was hard to tell what were actual enemies and what were just stage hazards. In a first for a roguelike I've played, I don't think there was any reward-or at least, none I could discern-for clearing some rooms. Just not fun.
I really like this Binding of Isaac spinoff. It has great depth and playthrough value.
