Ophidian

Take the original "Snake" and put an awesome spin on it. Portal blocks? Check. Reverse blocks? Check. Multiplayer? Check. Old school players will definitely feel at home playing Ophidian and it keeps things fresh to bring in a new crowd. I've never been very interested in "Snake-like" games but this one is definitely addicting. It's very well polished and runs amazing and has a huge amount of content. The challenges will keep even the most expert players playing for hours on end. The price is amazing for a game of this quality. If you're on the fence, do yourself a favor and buy this game.

This game takes the classic snake game and amps it up into a full blown game with tons of levels and new features that puts the snake you know and love on steroids. I really enjoy the chill atmosphere of the game and the minimalist art style. If you want a great challenge that is both addicting and sometimes downright frustrating, this game is for you! I highly recommend Ophidian.

Catchy music and old-school addicting play style. I can dig it. Some of the levels are completely infuriating. <3

[h1]Yet another [i]Snake[/i] clone hits Steam, but offers little else from what you'd expect from a typical [i]Snake[/i] game.[/h1] The concept is simple, so this one will be kept simple too. If you're an achievement hunter, you'll find yourself easily challenged. There's a challenge mode that holds most of the achievements (which has pre-made maps for you to play on), a free-play mode (which is without borders, but can still kill you if you bite your own tail), a mode that transforms the food you eat into walls you can crash into, and a ghost mode that is a time trial that records the movements of your previous snake to use against your next snake. The gimmicks used here are a bomb snake (eat enough and destroy walls in Trash Mode), a bounce block that reverses your head and tail positions, and a portal that sends you out the other end...obviously. There's also a strange anomaly that has certain foods only edible after other foods have been consumed. Personally, I hated the music and only found it making me want to put the game down that much quicker. The controls are fine, I guess...especially since it does give you a small grace period when you're about to crash into a wall, giving you a small window of reaction time to steer away from the wall you're about to crash into. Other than what I've stated, it's basically just your average [i]Snake[/i] game with a few gimmicks thrown in here and there. I honestly didn't enjoy this game and wouldn't recommend anyone buying it for the sales price ($2). If you're waiting for a sale, wait for it to be $0.50-$1.00 before you consider purchasing it. True, this game may not meet my expectations in a game, but who knows? Maybe it'll be the game you're looking for. But if you're like me and are bored with the same game thrown at you over and over again, you should probably consider moving right along. 3/10 It's just [i]Snake[/i] with a few gimmicks thrown into it.

A very chill game inspired by the classic Snake game. The audio and visual style is simple, clean, and super relaxing. It makes this an enjoyable game to unwind with. The multiplayer component is fun, too! But for me, it's all about the chillness. A+++

Throw away the flip phone folks, there's a better way to play snake!!! Ophidian is a remarkable take on a classic and there's no denying it's done right. 3 different game modes (my personal favorite is Ghost where you get to be your own worst enemy) and tons of challenging levels make for excellent playablilty and the visuals and music are perfect for this game. It plays really smoothly and the controls are perfectly responsive and forgiving. If you were ever looking for the perfect snake remake, this is it right here.

Actually the greatest, most visually appealing mix of snake and tron I've yet to see, all this game needs is multiplayer support and a mode where you can't touch the walls in arcade and it's a masterpiece!

Snake, but with enough new tricks and game modes to freshen it up. The highlight is probably the challenge mode, which offers 100 hand-crafted puzzles to clear, featuring various new obstacles and mechanics. Some of these are fairly tricky and will test your reflexes and spatial awareness. If you are looking for a casual coffee-break game or just an upgraded version of Snake, this is a good choice. My only complaint is that the background is often too dark to easily see the plain black obstacles. A white outline around the obstacles would probably improve visibility a lot.
