i really had a constant feeling i am playing a worse version of wolfentein 3D the weapon sound design is so extremely weak and sounds like you're knocking on a piece of wood since i am playing on the steam deck i am a little inconvenienced but the difficulty on normal is a bit too unbalanced. kept dying in the first level. the unresponsive movement doesn't help. very dumb AI. the dogs can get stuck on surfaces a lot. input registering is absolutely terrible and i have had troubles switching my weapons (doesn't feel smooth) it felt like threading a needle whilst wearing boxing gloves. music is all right. i would rather listen to something that was made either entirely using MIDI or using adlib/OPL like in most 90's shooters, though. the overall foundation for the theme is that it takes place during the Spanish Civil War. really cool concept though i feel like the game leans too heavily into the Wolfenstein 3D's archetype; down to the splash art you see in your steam library. i cannot recommend it to anyone unfortunately it is simply too jank, unrefined and derivative

It's like Cultic and Wolfenstein 3D had a baby in Spain. 10/10

An excellent throwback shooter, lots of fun, levels are vibrant while retaining their era's feel, secrets are creative and fun, the game sounds great and manages to have a really well thought out weapon and enemy roster. It's to Wolfenstein 3D what Cultic is to Blood. Definitely worth picking up if you're interested in a good boomshoot experience.

I agree with many of the reviews in that levels are too easy to get lost in, the music is great, and the gunplay is fun. I haven't finished it yet, but I'm enjoying it. That all said, I find the "Spanish Civil War" setting to be... pointless? Like, it's about as inspired by the Spanish Civil War as Doom is inspired by Christian mythology. It's not an issue on its own, but I do find it strange to put it all over the marketing for the game. Oh well. I really hope the soundtrack is released on its own some day.

Fun game, very old school. Like OG doom old school. you cant look up or down just side to side. Very good soundtrack but felt at times out of place. could be hella techno and your in some ruins. Guns are good used alot of them. Highly recommended if you like boomer shooters.

Where is Mecha Franco But being really honest, apart from the first chapter (which is goated), the rest isn't a good experience. Underwhelming in the threats you face, repetitive (no new guns, basically the same enemies), open field combat that sounds good, but doesn't work in practice, dumb AI and of course, very buggy.

Very closely follows the Wolfenstein 3D formula, but is a much comfier experience. Wolf 3D, especially on higher skills, is an endurance test. By contrast, everything about this game feels cozy. The art style, the music, the design aesthetic, and the combat especially. It all makes for a very relaxing experience; but not a very challenging one. I do have one little niggle. There are probably a few too many guns for a game this easy. You've got your pistol, SMG, shotgun, rifle, flamethrower, and machine gun, as well as dynamite and a knife. The game doesn't really need most of these. The SMG is more than capable of taking down every enemy, the pistol has utility for its headshot mechanic, and the shotgun is useful when you just need to delete something. The rifle, and especially the heavy weapons like the MG and flamer are really not needed. This isn't Wolf 3D, where you're rocking the chaingun from the word "GO!" until you run out of ammo. Having the extra weapons doesn't hurt or anything, but it definitely feels like clutter. That's really my only minor complaint. On the flipside, I CANNOT sufficiently express my appreciation to the developer for including the option to play as a girl. It's such a little thing, but in games where there is almost no story or voicelines, being able to just... choose your gender, since it doesn't effect gameplay, is a wonderful addition. In such a male-dominated genre, I am super grateful.
