I do recommend it. Coming from a mid-30's gamer who played all the original Onimusha games, its just great to be back experiencing the franchise. There are moments when it feels like classic Onimusha, but those moments aren't often enough. Original Onimisha was Resident Evil with swords. Of course I don't miss the tank controls and fixed camera, but RE was also more than that. Onimusha WotS nails the atmosphere but I wish there were more RE style puzzles, weird doors, etc. like it used to. I had hoped Way of the Sword would have more connection to the original world building, but a fresh take is also welcome. The story is alright, it kind of feels like its missing a more thorough connection from plot point to point rather than just "Go here and kill the next boss" but we get what we get. I will say that the writing for Musashi is fun, I love his expression and emoting. But Shizuka is basically the AAA dialogue meme and its a bit painful at times. She offers hints to puzzles when it's not asked for nor needed and that is quite unfortunate. The customization increments are agonizingly slow, I guess that's for the pacing and balance of the game. The combat is the shining point for this game. To those complaining of easy difficulty, you just don't get it. It's not a souls-like, its an action game. And the "easy" comes from the fact that the developers have given us so many different tools to play with. There are just so many different ways of tackling different encounters. You can be slow methodical, you can hack n slash, spam ultimates, you can parry everything. The game allows you to adapt and change tactics on the fly, and that's so much more engaging than a souls-like. The one criticism I have is the pacing of the enemy attacks. It could be tweaked up a bit for more challenge. I'm sure a mod will fix that. I also love that there is a built-in boss replay system. Often times during the story fight, I'll be so aggressive that I don't get to see all of the modes and transformations. Replaying allows you to switch up fighting styles and adapt to different strategies. Its an amazing game, I haven't finished but I hope there's a space for a sequel to happen because I just want more.

First of all this is a great game, there is some noise about difficulty but if you played Wukong, Onimusha is about the same difficulty maybe a bit harder, but with MUCH better gameplay, the progression is good enough for the size of the game. For me this was an easy 9/10. I only had 2 gripes with the game, some of the "super elite demons" that are bosses became a bit repetitive, at least they had new moves the second time, but the third or fourth had nothing new really (so you can kill easy if you remember the moves). And my other gripe was that Kyoto ( the main city) was for sidequests, but after you travel to another zone and see the plot developing you'll want more (the story was really good), BUT the mainquest forces you on "filler" quests on the city before actually getting back to the plot. I think kyoto was cool but forcing you to do quests before actually having fun with the story was a bit annoying. That being said, if you enjoy doing 2 hour MAIN QUEST stuff, then doing some farming and sidequests, exploring kyoto before going back to the ACTUAL juicy campaign plot you'll probably like the game even more than i did.
This game is pretty well made but does not justify the $70 price tag. Wait for sale. Highly recommend the game.
If you like Samurais and wooshy swords stop reading the reviews and start playing.
nice one

Got this bad boy free when I purchased a new graphics card. Couple hours in and damn this game is fantastic. Combat is very fluid and enjoying the characters I've encountered so far. Boss battles are tough enough so you aren't just smashing through them on your first attempt but not super frustrating like Dark Souls can be.
