Very good platformer in all the canons of indie: pixel art, various locations, bosses and of course an unusual hero :)

You can ignore the reviews that claim this is a scam game or something, it isn't. It's a platformer/shooter that seems inspired by "Cave Story" but doesn't quite have the charm to hold all the pieces together in the same way. It's good though, if you can get past some glitches that can get you softlocked. The game was patched a few years back so this is essentially the totally playable final version. There are some issues with the scripting, but conveniently there are checkpoints everywhere and you can restart levels so there won't be anything that will force you to do a complete game reset to start over. As far is if you should play it... it depends on what you're looking for. I absolutely love this game's graphics, as they're the perfect mix of charming MSpaint and skilled artistry. The music is not quite as good, and perhaps that's part of the reason this doesn't come anywhere near cave story. The combat is also good but kind of clunky. After you start getting guns it gets to be a lot more fun. I actually had the most fun with this game fighting through the boss fights on hard because they are legitimately difficult and require specific strategies and timing to win. Later on there's a hoverboard segment and you also get a jetpack which is cool. This is a very linear game where you are given a small area to explore, beat it and move onto the next area. I could not make heads or tails (pun not intended) of the story because the translation isn't great and it's not very interesting anyway. There's a bit of a puzzle element, but it's very light. The bulk of the challenge here just comes from the platforming, shooting and ticking off the achievements if you so choose. Near the end of the game you get a sawblade and while it's literally just a circle you shoot at enemies it feels like such a massive improvement since the enemies have so much health. There's also weapon upgrades that temporarily make the shotgun or pistol more powerful, but they're gone forever once they run out. Some RPG aspect like leveling would have helped, but there are health capsules (like in Cave Story) laying around. There are also some collectibles that are really hard to find and I had to do three playthroughs to find all of them. You can "sniff" to find hidden walls and many of the collectibles are hidden in the walls, making them easily missable. Overall this is far from the best game but it's totally real and playable. I recommend it if the graphic style interests you, just be aware that there's a tad bit of jank and the harder difficulties can be quite unfair and frustrating at times.

個人感覺開發對ACT的概念不足。 玩家攻擊判定窄、很容易被彈甚至連續被彈、不想給人躲的陷阱、匪夷所思的怪物行動、 很容易卡住的進度、很容易卡死讀檔的地型、無法手動記錄的存檔點。 我很懷疑官方到底想給玩家什麼樣的遊戲？

One Dog Story es un plataformas indie entretenido donde, a pesar de apreciarse que se ha depositado un gran esfuerzo en su diseño, el resultado final está lejos de ser excelente. Gráficamente está muy bien, con gráficos coloridos y personajes de aspecto entrañable. Quizás el mejor apartado del título. Su banda sonora raya a buen nivel, acompañando a la acción de manera más que correcta. La jugabilidad es buena en general, con controles sencillos y precisos, aunque en alguna ocasión veremos que las colisiones no se comportan de la manera esperada y podremos encontrarnos con algunos bugs que nos fuercen a cargar la última partida guardada. Esto resta enteros a la nota final. Además, aunque la trama puede resultar interesante, a veces se hace pesado leer todos los textos que acompañan a cada partida. Textos, por otro lado, no bien narrados del todo, lo cual hace que la historia no acabe de sentirse cerrada y sea algo compleja de entender. La durabilidad, teniendo en cuenta que necesitaremos pasárnoslo dos veces para conseguir todos los logros, estará entre las 14 y 18 horas. Una duración más que decente. La dificultad, por otro lado, no es relevante e iremos avanzando sin problemas, si bien en el modo difícil podemos encontrarnos con algún momento algo más complicado, sin llegar a ser extremadamente frustrante. En resumen, un buen juego, con algunas deficiencias que lo dejan lejos de ser un imprescindible, pero que cumple su misión de entretener por unas cuantas horas. NOTA: 6,5/10
