A Masterpiece of Visual and Sonic Artistry Once a Tale is an enthralling experience that sets a new benchmark in the realm of video games. From the moment you begin your journey in its vividly crafted world, the stunning graphics captivate you, painting every scene with a palette that feels like it's straight out of a vibrant storybook. The attention to detail in the environments is nothing short of spectacular, making each frame worthy of a canvas. You can see the hard work and the time that was put into the game to make each character feel as good and as unique as they can be. The mix between stop motion and 3D animation is great. The background and all the environments is uniquely immersive which gives you the feeling of actually being in the forest! But it isn’t just a feast for the eyes; it's also a symphony to the ears. The sound production is impeccable, with a perfectly curated soundtrack that complements the highs and lows of the narrative. The storytelling is another aspect of thew game. It weaves a compelling narrative that is both engaging and emotionally resonant, keeping you invested from start to finish. The way the story unfolds is both innovative and captivating, ensuring that every player is hooked on the lore and the fates of the characters they meet. Speaking of gameplay, the puzzles are brilliantly designed, challenging enough to be satisfying but never feeling insurmountable. What’s truly refreshing about this game is its innovative dual-character control system. This unique feature allows you to maneuver two characters simultaneously, adding a layer of strategy and depth to both puzzles and exploration. Its really refreshing to have a game that play along those lines.
A good story telling game with a unique handcrafted artistic style! :)
The game gave the feels akin to watchin' Chicken Run and playin' the recent Harold Halibut. It captures that stop motion style nicely. I would have liked to have some voice acting here tho. Still what we have on hand is solid. Another hidden gem here. Gameplay Impressions: https://youtu.be/OFimvEt0R9k
Is this game perfect? No. Could it be better? Yes. Would I recommend it? Absolutely! Knowing this game has been developped by such a small team and with a ridiculously small budget, we can feel the game was made with passion. In a day where a lot of games feel the same, it's fun to see that some still take risks and try to make something unique. It might not be for everybody, but this is a great game that should be played in family. My only complaint is that this game screams Coop! But I do understand that this would've meant a complete rethinking of the puzzles. Maybe later?
This a great wholesome puzzle game that I play with my kids :D Unique art style that breathes life into these classic fables.
Poor controls, ugly (mid 10´s graphics) and lock at 60fps. I will return it.
Fun puzzle solving with a unique and refreshing art style.
