The visual style and the music are great! The story so far looks good, just finished my first session and I am already hooked on some of the mystery's (No spoiler though). If you like narrative games, new twists on classic tales, or puzzle games in general, I would suggest trying this title!
The developers behind Once a Tale are really passionate and I can see it. The hand crafted animations are beautiful and the visuals really make you feel like you are living inside a children's book, flipping the pages to find a new character, new scenery or new tale that will transport you into another story. Special mention to the music that really contributes to the overall atmosphere of the title. The core gameplay is mostly puzzle-focused and while this type of gameplay may not suit everyone's taste, a true attention of detail has been given to craft very well made puzzles, thumb up to the designers! I also appreciate that the guidance is good and still rewards me if I explore off the beaten path. You unlock new abilities and discover new mechanics as the game progresses and so far, they are introduced at a really great rythm. Pros: - Unique and stunning fairy tale like animations and visuals - Excellent puzzle and level design - Great writing, feels like a fairy tale Cons: - Some camera angles makes it difficult to see where your character is or what is put in evidence - I got stuck at a certain puzzle because I missed a room that was easy to miss Conclusion: If you are into puzzle solving and want to relive all of the popular tales, I highly recommend this refreshing experience!
The game is original and the stop-motion puppets bring flavour to the gameplay experience. While some camera angles can make controls a little tricky at first, once you get used to the mechanics, there is lots to be explored in Once a Tale with hours of fun. The game has cool puzzles and likeable characters. The lack of combat is intentional in my opinion and makes the narrative the center piece of the game. It really is a family friendly game.
Beautiful and original game for all the family ! The motion picture art style is gorgeous. The puzzles are fun and challenging and the story telling is quite funny. Really enjoyed my first hours of play time so far !
Amazing atmosphere. Very clever design, and the puzzles are quite a challenge. Interesting camera placement, it brings a whole different touch in the visual storytelling. Immersed in all those tales, I feel like a kid again! <3
Lovely game, a real enjoyment for the whole family. Unique artistic impression in the graphics.
Very interesting art style and an interesting story with a fresh take on good ol' tales we all know and loved as kids.
Love the unique puzzles and handmade stop-motion style. All the game elements are super on-theme with a fairytale touch everywhere you look (collectibles, characters, goals, places, etc.)
