The soulful playlist item. ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ sucks.
For a start, it runs pretty well, fov slider can go up to 140, and it works with 21:9 ultrawide monitors. There's also key rebinding that recognizes side mouse buttons, although it counts both scrolling up and scrolling down as the same input for some reason, not that I'm complaining seriously if your mouse isn't ♥♥♥♥ rebind it there for the optimal quickswapping experience. Only complaint here is that you aren't able to bind multiple keys to the same action, which can make swapping around gadgets rough. For the gameplay itself, pretty solid actually. Movement feels a bit jank, can't really get momentum nor use it all that well and air movement can feel kinda weird with the mix of high air friction and basically letting you do 360's. There's some base movement options, notably wall-jumping and wall-running, yet the real schmoovement lies in the gadgets, which range from a slide that can be chained into a superjump, to a basic dash, to a dedicated yoink button, to a frag that may occasionally attract enemies sometimes when it feels like it. Guns feel very nice and there's a wide and diverse arsenal to slowly carve away at (and in zoomshoot tradition they all have some weirdass alt-fire), ranging from an Ol' Reliable handgun to an SMG I really didn't expect to be that good to the Wrangler from Team Fortress Two. Honestly the weapons are a major highlight to me, even the more generic and archetypical ones are wacky and zany, and there's also special items that modify your weapons such as adding cluster-munitions to the grenade launcher, or turning the shotgun's laser-guided flying grenade into a glacially-slow nuclear bomb. The main draw of the game is the core loop, how you actually progress both per-run and overall. In short, it's a long series of combat arenas that you gotta shoot through yet you need to occasionally take a gambling break to not die (don't worry no progress is lost it just resets the room itself, and the more gambling breaks you do the more it costs to gamble). There's also some occasional breaks in the action decided by pure RNG, usually it's a shop area where you can trade the tokens you get from your ♥♥♥♥♥♥ gamble upgrades for bigger actually-useful upgrades (and may or may not have a free item duper). Sometimes combat arenas have objectives, sometimes they're a special variant that prevents you from healing through giving yourself glock leg, sometimes the game pulls an "it's not over yet sucker!" and spawns so many saul goodman nextbots that they start telefragging you, and sometimes there's a weird guy that you can hug to gamble harder in exchange for your entire healthbar. There's a lot of room for differing strategies and decisions to make over the course of a run. Oh yeah there's also bossfights, if you want an overview, I mean they're just kinda there, bullet-spongy as all ♥♥♥♥ and they exists solely to bleed your time and souls dry but some of them do have some fun patterns to dodge. ♥♥♥♥ the gargoyle though, imagine actually being able to hurt the boss instead of them ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ off and spamming minions every five seconds. The actual meta-progression can be a bit tedious though. You get tokens, yet you need tickets. You can convert tokens into tickets through different minigames, the tickets you get are based on your performance in that minigame. Sure there are minigames that are quick on purpose (mainly the comically-large slot machine and a timing minigame) yet the exchange rate is ♥♥♥♥ so if you wanna squeeze every ticket out of your winnings and you don't wanna do fifty million runs just to get some drip you're gonna be playing more galaga than oddcore. Meta-progression is more options-based than raw upgrades, sure you can trade 200 tickets for a random pre-run item but everything else adds new items to the pool or gadgets and weapons to use in future runs, and the vast majority are entirely cosmetic and do absolutely nothing, also you can get a cat and the cat follows the laser-pointer weapon and they make a little meow if you press E on them so instant 10/10. Overall, dirt cheap and surprisingly solid, yet it's still an early-access roguelike zoomer shooter made by like one guy so the jank and ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ come with the territory. Also it's just plain fun to liquefy a horde of vantablack beans with the true combo that is psychic mind powers plus a moderately-radioactive grenade launcher.
Trying to explain this game in what it's general identity to the public is would be hard. The closest thing I could think of is maybe Ultrakill Inspired. But it absolutely breathes creativity and freedom. I'm close to having about 60 hrs (time is wrong because playing on Xbox ally offline) and a lot of that time feels like it goes by with a blink of an eye. 10/10
big man
If you like fast paced roguelike FPS, weird visuals, strange sensations, arcades, and odd liminal spaces, you will probably like this game.
A perfect combination of backrooms + roguelike mechanics. Movement is amazing and the fact you get rick's portal gun to traverse through levels is just chef's kiss. also pls add co-op
Really fun roguelike! Lots of weapon and build variety and tons of replay value, the gunplay feels really good and the entire gameplay loop is really satisfying :3
best game of my life
This game is fun for the most part but the rarest achievement is rare for a reason
Really love the game, very simple at first, but grew with my understanding of the upgrade system! A lot of tech to discover, and it's really fun to find out! Endless Parkour is my favorite part about the game though, I'm addicted to spending hours just speeding through the place (leaderboard proves that lmao) I do wish there was a way to customize what random upgrades you get from the shop, seeing as it becomes more chaotic with the more you upgrade (could keep the rarities, and just limit the player's minimum amount of each type of upgrade [for example, 20 common, 10 uncommon, 5 rare, one odd minimum]) but thats just an idea of mine lol
