For short: This is a overpriced VR horror game that has a few cool concepts but the lack of a story or any interesting gameplay makes me not recomend this game. Scares: I don't think there was any part in this game where I felt even remotely scared. After the first three go throughs I am left to believe that there is nothing to do in the game other than wait for the ghost/demon to scream at you, which was just a failed jumpscare just about every time. Story: This section is kind of simple... There isn't really one.. You go into a scene in which the same ghost/demon approaches you as you watch the same few signals of her approach. Once the lady screams at you, you are teleported back to a area where you read a couple notes then go into the next section... The backstory behind the ghost/demon can be found through the notes, but it is hard to follow as very little information is given at a time and the isn't too interesting anyway. Gameplay: This section is also pretty simple... There is no gameplay really. As I mentioned earlier all you do is look at the signs that the ghost/demon is walking over to you and a few other objects to see her coming. The items that allow you to see her are pretty cool and they are probably one of the few good things about the game. Is it worth it?: No, not at all. For 20 dollars I would expect this game to at least have some form of gameplay or an intreging story. I know that it says it is not a "Traditional game" but saying it is not a traditional game would not make me think that it is just an interactive horror clip. I would just stay away from this game. Edit: I would also like to add that it being "different every playthrough" is just getting a different combination of items and locations. It isn't really anything special, so if that is why you were considering getting this game, definetly don't bother.
Yes the environments are beautifully crafted and the sound is top-quality, but you cannot move/explore, and there's very limited interactivity (it's an 'experience', but nobody said a VR experience should be mostly looking around and doing close to nothing). And worst of all, there's almost no story. To be honest, it feels like a (talented) developer (or team) made a nice proof of concept, but then didn't have the motivation (or resources) to turn it into a full game, so it was released as "an experience" and sold for a high price. I can't recommend buying this unless the current price (of 20 EUR) drops.
This is a Virtual Reality Horror Experience. It was designed specifically as an experience and as such my review is based on that information. Each experience of this game will be different in terms of settings and the sequence or occurrence of events, because the experience is designed to change each time the game is loaded. This means that there are a variety of possible environments that you may potentially experience, or you could simply experience one setting depending on how long or how many times you play the game. It also means that some experiences may include more frequent jump scares whilst other experiences may be of a slower pace. You are stationary throughout the experience, and do not have the ability to explore the environments, but this works surprisingly well for this experience due to it’s intended purpose. You can shift your viewpoint without having to turn around, but this is all in terms of movement. The environments that I saw (within my experience) are detailed, extra details include that different objects spawn in your hands within each setting, the sound effects are good, the jump scares are effective most of the time, at certain points a bit repetitive but bare in mind that each experience is different. I think that the experience could do with some improvements, these include a guarantee of frequent jump scares in every experience loaded, so that there isn’t extended periods of just standing around, a more vast range of characters providing the jump scares. Although I like the idea that each experience is different as this means that there potential replayablity value for yourself or as a horror experience to show to friends, it is overpriced for what it offers. Overall, I enjoyed this and recommend it, but on the basis that it is an experience not a game, so do not expect any gameplay, and I also only recommend it in the sale as unfortunately I think that it is overpriced for what it offers. https://youtu.be/su5xnYXpELk
This game is very different from typical horror genre games. Its different every playthrough which is great. It gives it replayibility and more fun to watch friends that come over play it. There is no locomotion but the developer designed it this way and you dont need it. This game was pretty scary fot me, i couldnt play it for morr than 20 minutes haha. Here is a video of gameplay: https://youtu.be/ALxYmVhbIMM
I just got this on sale and I'm really happy with what I got. Yes, it is more of an experience than a traditional game, but this experience is actually nicely designed, well made, and randomized so there's quite some replay value. I like it quite a lot and I'll definitely be coming back to it!
Действительно стоящий своих денег VR хоррор! В нем есть все: паника,страх,ужас, хороший звук и картинка! Смотри обзор на эту игру - OBSCURA обзор (кликабельно)
I bought this on sale at a hefty 90% discount. I lasted about five minutes before deciding it was a litttle bit *too* creepy for the time and place I first played it. I, therefore, am not qualified to give a full review, but It's definitely worth a punt for £0.71. It's *really* creepy. From my limited time in the game (so far) I can say that it has fullly customisable rendering options and fluid controls.
I can say that from all VR horror games in my experience. Obscura is the most scary VR experience I’ve ever played. Not just creepy, but will make you goosebumps and scream over and over again. https://youtu.be/f2BHqR2mC3g
This is the scariest VR game i've ever played. Me and my friend Casper just tried it, and we almost scare-quit the first time. I REALLY recommend this game if you want to get REALLY scared! + The graphics are 10 / 10.
