In "Boo! Greedy Kid", you play as a small brat who's so into soda that he doesn't blink an eye before wreaking havoc to get his favorite drink. Go frighten people with your own voice! (or a controller, that's fine too)

Boo! Greedy Kid is a casual indie puzzler with a very simple-to-understand, yet challenging levels. Check out this review and many others on Save or Quit: https://saveorquit.com/2018/04/09/review-boo-greedy-kid/
Short description
One day, you ask your father for some change to get that can of soda you really want from the vending machine. Your father declines your request in a rather impolite way, causing you to lose your temper, scare him to death and collect his money. As it turns out, you still don't have enough, which means that you have to do the same to everyone in the 99 level building you reside in as you did to your old man.
Main pros and cons
First of all, I would like to mention the really cute intro. This is where the game teaches you the ability you will be doing for the next two hours: scaring someone from behind. The controls stay the same for the rest of the game - the only thing that changes is the difficulty, which steadily rises through the 99 story (with the occasional spikes). The controls are quite clumsy if you don't play with a controller - everything is cramped together on the left side of the keyboard. Luckily, the Settings menu allows you to change all bindings to whatever you prefer. I have one more complaint regarding the controls: the game never tells you how to do a roll. You are simply shown that you have to sneak past the policeman somehow, but you are never told directly that you can simply roll past the enemies. I was stuck on the 10th level for quite some time before I noticed that there is indeed such a thing as a "dodge roll" in this game. I opened the keybinds menu, where I finally discovered that pressing Q does the trick. Playing the game suddenly became much easier. I'll focus more on the gameplay now. Since just scaring a ton of people to death is obviously too easy, there are also different enemies who are able to harm you. There are two types of police officers - one charges at you until he hits you and the other one shoots at you. You have three lives available, which means that you can only take two hits until you die. Some people also have more than one life. After you scare them, they start raging and running around. If they hit you while in "rage mode", you will lose a life. In some of the levels, you might also encounter doctors - those do not need to be scared to death in order to progress to the next level, but they can bring the scared people back to life if they see one. Doctors have two lives and if you kill them, you get a one heart recharge. In later levels, you will also encounter the SWAT units - a much more dangerous form of police officers. Their ability is to climb up and down between floors without having to use the door, which means they can sometimes trap you in an uncomfortable and unpredictable spot. Still, they aren't much of a nuisance once you get used to them. Robot-cops, however, are a nuisance. They only appear in about five levels, but they are much harder to pass. The will shoot at you on sight with an extremely fast bullet which kills you in a single hit. These levels usually include a lot of hiding and require perfect timing if you want to win. Each level consists of multiple floors between which you can travel using doors. Two doors of the same color are connected and it can sometimes be tricky to find the right path to the last remaining living person while trying to evade the police. After each level, you are given one star by default. The remaining two stars can be obtained by getting to the exit elevator in a small enough amount of time and getting all of the possible money from the levels. In most cases, getting the money isn't that hard. However, trying to finish in the required amount of time is usually quite demanding, especially when you have to deal with robot-cops. After beating every single level, you are taken to the final cutscene. Personally, I was quite disappointed as the kid did not get his soda after all. My best guess is that I would have to beat every single level with 3 stars, which I certainly do not intend to do as some levels have quite unrealistic demands. For those who love achievements, this game offers 20 of them. The ones I got were fun to achieve and weren't too difficult. Be aware, however, that in order to get every single achievement, you will need to beat all levels with all three stars. If you love creating your own content and sharing it with your friends, this game also supports Steam Workshop. After subscribing to user-made content on Steam, you can it accessible in the game from the main menu. When you launch the game, you are also given the option to use the included level editor. I opened it and played around with it for a minute or two just to see if it works and it looks like a good enough tool for making the levels for this game. Finally, I would like to mention the soundtrack and the graphics. Boo! Greedy Kid is really a gem when it comes to that. The exciting, yet repetitive music puts you in just the right more for scaring people and the graphics are certainly worth looking at.
Verdict
Overall, I have to say that I enjoyed this game. The levels were just challenging enough me and the player feels like it, trying to get every single star is certainly a goal which would require even more patience and grind. Although I had absolutely no problems at all with the controls after changing them in the menu, I have to say that I feel a bit disappointed how the game didn't inform me about the ability to do a dodge roll. I almost quit playing because of that since levels were becoming too difficult to beat without rolling past the enemies. If you like playing casual games and just want to have some fun, Boo! Greedy Kid might be the game for you. I completed all the levels in about two hours without repeating too many of them. I'm not too sure about the $5 price tag, but you should consider purchasing the game should you ever see it discounted. With love, BirdCute
Note that my copy of this game was obtained for free for reviewing purposes. However, this did not affect the quality and objectivity of the reviewing process.

Played just a little bit of it but I can already say it's pretty good (and I suck at it :B). Every level is a fast dash of skill to get it completely right and variables like characters' placements/behaviors don't repeat if you restart, so you can learn a level's layout but you'll have to adapt on the fly to new elements. Also, the level of polish is just beautiful. Boo!
Sinopsis
Boo!

Boo! Greedy Kid is yet another of literally thousands of 2D retro platformers infesting Steam and lowering the average quality of all video games everywhere. I say platformer, but I am not 100% sure this counts... it's more like a 2D "adventure" action game, as you don't jump between platforms, instead you run between doors and elevators as part of the gameplay. And gameplay, wow. The objective of the game is to run up behind senior citizens and kill them by startling them, which causes them to have a heart attack, then you can collect all the money they dropped. Whoever thought that was a good idea for a video game maybe needs to consider therapy. Anyway, bad premises aside, this is a pretty awful game with bad graphics and lame gameplay, and no lasting interest for gamers. Weirdly the game has a level editor, which is a lot of effort for a garbage game. We call this "putting lipstick on a pig". From a technical perspective, the game doesn't meet basic minimum requirements that most PC gamers expect as standard. A choice was made to use obsolete, decades old retro pixel "art" as a substitute for contemporary PC graphics. It's unclear if this is due to lack of budget or talent, regardless, the overall visual quality of the game is extremely low as a result. There's no option to change the resolution and no useful graphics tweaks. There's no way to ensure this is running at the native resolution of your display. There's no guarantee this game will look right on any PC as a result of this hamfisted design decision. The controls can't be customised, which will be an annoyance for many, but it can also render the game unplayable for differently-abled gamers, left handed gamers or gamers using AZERTY or other international keyboard layouts. This looks a lot like it was designed for consoles, but released on Steam instead by mistake. While this is on PC, it has all the hallmarks and deficiencies of a console game, from the clunkier than needed control scheme to the less than cutting edge graphics. There's 10's of thousands of PC games on Steam, and PC gamers deserve only the best. This might not appeal to many gamers due to the lack of PC-centric design. It's unclear why this never made it to the video game console appliances it seems to have been designed for. Some of the defects in the game can be attributed to the choice of using the video game library/engine, Monogame. It's rarely used, because it's arguably worse than construction kits like GameMaker Studio, RPGMaker and Clickteam Fusion, but it's also much harder to work with. Despite this, Monogame has very limited capabilities, which go some way to explaining the poor quality of the game. Just as you can't make a silk purse out of a sows ear, you can't make a great video game if you use a terrible engine. These technical defects push this game below acceptable standards for any modern PC game. The poor quality of this game is reflected by how many people spent time with it. At the time of this review, SteamDB shows the all-time peak player number was only 8 players. This is a remarkably low number, and now, the only player activity occurs once or twice a month, presumably someone loading it up to see what it is then quickly uninstalling it. Considering there's over 120 million gamers on Steam and well over 100,000 games for gamers to choose from, the overwhelming lack of interest in this low quality game is to be expected. So, should you buy this game? Is this one of the best of the 100,000+ games on Steam? Boo! Greedy Kid has the greedy, cash grab price of around $5 USD, it's not worth it given the defects and shortcomings with the product, especially considering the sheer number of completely free, much higher quality games on Steam. For comparison, the $5 asking price for this game could get you games like "Metro 2033", "Fallout 4" or "Outlast". No pixelcrap is worth $5. If developers want to get paid the same kind of money as real game developers who know how to do graphics properly, they need to learn how to do graphics properly.
'Boo! Greedy Kid' is a cool little puzzle game where you scare the s*** out of old folks so that that they fall into stroke-like fits and spill their pocket change for you to steal. However, some old folks don't go down easy and will give you a smack in a spat of anger if your first attempt at spooking them doesn't do the trick - of course, you can always just hide for a bit and try again >:). Of course, you'll also need to contend with security guards and the like who won't want to put up with any of your shenanigans and will chase you around on-sight. The gameplay is fast and simple but the game provides added completion-time and money-collection goals for those looking for an added challenge. The music is fun for the first 30 seconds but gets super repetitive and a bit grating after that - I would liken the quality and infectiousness of the music to the popular children's anthem, "Baby Shark." 'Boo! Greedy Kid' has 99 levels in the game so the fuil-price might be a good value if you consider how long it'll probably take to finish the game but I definitely recommend picking it up on sale. In my opinion, it's definitely a $1-$2 USD type of game.
A retro arcade-style game, with tight controls and good level design. The game is very fun to speed-run( in order to get under par times in every level) and even though the Kid's moveset is limited, there are ways to minimize your times, f.e. rolling through an open door to close it, instead of stopping in your tracks and pressing up. My only 2 small gripes are: 1) the level select cursor moves very slowly, so selecting later levels takes a bit ( a big contrast to the overall 'snappiness' of the game) and 2) the sole music track for the level select screen and levels, though fitting to the game's style, is small in length, so it loops around often and can end up getting irritating. I suggest muting the in-game music and playing anything you enjoy from your desktop instead, for maximum enjoyment.
