I've been a fan of this otome before it was even on Ren'py. It's unique and every guy is charming in their own way. If you're an otome fan, it's a must have.
https://youtu.be/uePJVKekLW4 By just word count alone there is almost an insurmountable amount of text in this visual novel. A slower pacing fits with the setting and allows characters room to grow.
This visual novel gives an amazing story that has amazing characters. I definitely recommend to anyone who is looking for good visual novels.
This is a very good and throughout otome game! The characters are nicely done. You can feel and live with there each own unique struggle. And the MC is lovely done; she has her own struggles AND has a backbone! In this game are 3 routes, that give you sometimes suprising views of the main story. Gives you inside to culture, rituals and believes of the nations: the winged ones and the other side. The art is also beautifully done! Everyone has his own looks that fit nicely. Look at this artstyle was a pleasure, it is unique and original. Nusantara is just a beautiful gem of an otome game that seasoned AND new Otome gamers must play at least ones in their lifetime. 5/5!
I played this game when the creator released it for free on the Lemmasoft forums, and enjoyed it so much that I started supporting her on Patreon. The free version is still available, but you should definitely buy this updated version on Steam: in the free version it was distractingly clear that SweetChiel was not a native speaker of English. But (Gainax, this is how it's done!) for this new release she got an excellent proofreader, and the grammar mistakes are gone. This lets you really appreciate her fascinating world. (She also fixed an annoying bug, and clarified at least one point in the story that I'd found confusing.) The setting is intriguing (a fantasy version of ancient Indonesia), the art nearly-always gorgeous, and the characters are really something else. The primary supporting characters feel as real as the leads (wow does this game have no problems with the Bechdel test!), and almost all the characters feel like they very much belong to their unusual culture, rather than being ported from some modern setting. The guys who are love interests are interesting in their own right, and the romantic chemistry on two of the routes is great. (I didn't really feel chemistry on one of the routes. The guy himself is interesting, but when the main character asks herself why she had to care about such a frustrating guy, I had to wonder the same thing. I suspect part of the difficulty was him being too complex/realistic to fit the falling-for-him into the detail/number of scenes that could be given him in a 15-20hr game.) The length is good. There's enough time for a couple satisfying character arcs and overall story arc, without it being so long-in-story that it feels draggy to replay it right away. I almost forgot to mention the main character, Tamara! She's not that two-dimensional, useless, terminally-clueless airhead you seem to find in Japanese otome like "Amnesia," and the Voltage games. Thank goodness. Overall? A bargain at full price. Since SweetChiel is asking for constructive criticism...
You've already fixed my only major concern, which was having someone help by proofreading. My other suggestion would be to be a bit more clear about village size and mention a number of villages. I thought there were only two small Avian villages until she saw the hundreds of warriors, and far along Reksa's route we suddenly find out that there must be other Komodo villages. Since we didn't hear much about them earlier, It felt a bit like the extras only popped into being when needed.
The game had a great storyline and wonderful characters that felt real. The bachelors were well rounded and I loved their individual storylines and how it intertwined with Tamara's own line and the plot as a whole. The plot felt original and didn't feel like it dragged its feet, it kept a steady pace that allowed for the character growth we had as well as pushing forward on the war going on. The music matched the activities going on as well as the art itself. I really enjoyed the inclusion of the culture of Indonesia, like even the more problematic aspects like the Sati ritual, it helped the game and the location feel Real. The game is a decent length, moved into 5 chapters. Each playthrough, assuming each playthrough is with a different bachelor, can take anywhere from 2 hours to 6 hours depending on if you skip any dialog, the cutscenes for the characters are beautiful and the routes themselves are delightful, the answer to get the Good end is not always what it seems, and its easy to accidentally end up on the bad route, but I think that makes the game itself better. You can't always know the consequences to your actions and I think this really exemplifies that in its choices. Overall good game, would play again!
I loved this game! All three romance options were great. I even shed a few tears at times! I can't wait for this publisher to make some more great games like this one!
So far I've completed one route! I defiantly would suggest buying it! Its defiantly worth it! Its not fast past like most stories. It has some depth and that just one route. I love the art and the story line. The characters you grow to love. I really don't want to complain about anything because its a amazing story!
An interesting otome visual novel. Mixed with Indonesian cultural themes and legends. All three routes are nice, and emotional. Recommend.
Nusantara is a charming indie VN in an unusual setting, wittily written with charming art. It's rare for me to like all the routes, but here I played (and replayed on Steam) all off them with much pleasure Waiting eagerly for the next installment in the series!
