About
Nuclear Option is a combat flight game set on a dynamic and realistic battlefield of the near future. Use an array of advanced weapons to change the course of battles as you intercept bombers, duel fighters, fly under the radar, or unleash the fury of nuclear weapons on enemy formations.
Each aircraft comes with an immersive cockpit featuring a situational awareness HUD, identifying nearby targets and threats. Aircraft can be flown with various controllers or with a mouse-controlled "virtual joystick", requiring no special hardware.
Experience realistic flight dynamics, with stalls, spins and g-force effects fully implemented, as each aircraft is composed of up to 50 individually simulated physics parts . A highly detailed damage model means that the condition of each part affects the way your aircraft flies.
Build your own missions using the included mission editor, and then fly your mission solo or with friends in PVP or PVE multiplayer combat.

Rare to see such a well made game for a reasonable price, with a development team as good as this. Truly awe-inspiring
Dcs will always have a place in my heart but this game is just something else, launching 8 20kt rockets and watching them all hit is one of the best experiences I’ve ever had in gaming. The controls once you’re used to them are really fun, and theres no grind, everything’s unlocked, no micro transactions, just pure fun plane sim 10/10 easily rolls war thunders ass

TL;DR:I LOVE THIS GAME. I came to Nuclear Option after playing War Thunder and Ace Combat. I haven't touched War Thunder since the British were first added, and I haven't played Ace Combat since the Belkan War. So it's been a while. And honestly? Nuclear Option has absolutely nailed what I want from an air-combat game. I love the graphics, I love the damage modelling, and I especially love the fact that you can throw nuclear weapons around like they're going out of fashion. But the damage and physics are probably my favourite part. When you get hit, it isn't just a health bar going down. If an engine gets damaged, or part of the aircraft gets blown off or knocked out of alignment, the aircraft's actual physics change. You have to compensate for it, and you can genuinely feel the aircraft becoming harder to control. And this isn't just limited to the jets. The helicopters and quadcopters have their own physical behaviour too, which makes damage feel meaningful rather than cosmetic. There's something incredibly satisfying about limping home in an aircraft that's missing half its engine while desperately trying not to become another crater. Overall, Nuclear Option is a bloody good game. It's fun, chaotic, has great physics, and lets me do things with aircraft that would probably get me court-martialled in real life. I'd happily pay £30 for this game. 10/10. Would nuke again.
It really sucks to have to not recommend this game because it is absolutely amazing after the short playtime I have. Positives - The combat flows very, very seamlessly and is an amazing mix of realism that takes away just enough elements from an actual plane's weapons system to not make it horrifyingly complicated to learn and play through. - The game's current selection of vehicles is very robust and thoughtful. There’s a plane or helicopter for almost every situation you can get into, there’s specialised aircraft for dogfighting, support, stealth, bombing, tactical deployment and for generalisation on all of that. - The current missions you can go through are rather short but still offer a decent experience and prepare you fairly well for the larger PvP/PvE Co-op battlegrounds that you can fly in. The main reason for my negative review, however, is that the game in its current state does not have a very good enemy targeting system, which makes it incredibly difficult to play with a flight stick. You are basically forced into playing with the mouse's virtual joystick (not even full mouse controls similar to War Thunder and the like), which is a horrible experience for me personally. I'd recommend adding some kind of target selection bindings that allow you to cycle through target groups (ground, air, anti-air, buildings, MBT, radar sites, etc) and lock your plane to targeting just those or add some kind of movement control like war thunder to allow for better and easier mouse flight. (for reference, while in the cockpit, the game allows you to hold the M2 in mouse flight mode to quickly look around and select targets via looking at them and pressing a button. In joystick mode, you either have to use the mouse to look around or use your joystick hat, and your view doesn't snap back to the front of the aircraft like in virtual joystick mode with the mouse either)
I would willingly pay $60 for this
