About
Nuclear Option is a combat flight game set on a dynamic and realistic battlefield of the near future. Use an array of advanced weapons to change the course of battles as you intercept bombers, duel fighters, fly under the radar, or unleash the fury of nuclear weapons on enemy formations.
Each aircraft comes with an immersive cockpit featuring a situational awareness HUD, identifying nearby targets and threats. Aircraft can be flown with various controllers or with a mouse-controlled "virtual joystick", requiring no special hardware.
Experience realistic flight dynamics, with stalls, spins and g-force effects fully implemented, as each aircraft is composed of up to 50 individually simulated physics parts . A highly detailed damage model means that the condition of each part affects the way your aircraft flies.
Build your own missions using the included mission editor, and then fly your mission solo or with friends in PVP or PVE multiplayer combat.

A brilliant sim-light combining the best parts of actual sims and arcade games. Brilliant fun in (modded-on) VR. This is hands down the favourite flight "sim" for me right now. It balances accessibility and realism to a degree that I don't know from any other flight-centred title. Enough different planes, helicopters and VTOLs to give players a good variety. Each feels distinctly different. I like the pacing - you are never far from the next actual engagement. You don't have to wait for ages like in many serious sims. And still, there is room for strategic maneuvering around the battlefield to find the best angle of attack. I really love IL-2, but you can't really hop in and get anything done quickly. Here, you are never farther away than, say 2 minutes from the next frontline. The "main game" (the various "open" scenarios" is basically a MOBA with flying heroes. There are factories that spew out waves of ground vehicles. By killing them, you level up, so you can use higher level (not necessarily better) planes, and need to destroy the enemies' production capabilities / occupy their airfields to win. Two pieces of advice: if you can, play in VR. The "NOVR" mod is simply brilliant. And: watch some YouTube tutorials. "DryHeatAndSand" has a great series with videos about every part of the game, and I think it's really helpful to watch them to understand many of the more advanced concepts in this game.

So much fun once you get past the tutorial, cant wait for a full campaign and more planes. (especially a faster, bigger logistics cargo plane)

The greatest military game i have ever played. I dont have much else to say about it.
This is a perfect blend of realism and arcade. Somewhere between DCS, Warthunder and Ace Combat. There is a somewhat steep learning curve, but once you get better at the various aspects of the game, it opens up in a beautiful way. There is an immense amount of depth to all the systems and the various aircraft. The game can be played solo, in a co-op pve and also in pvp. There's also custom games, a thriving workshop and modding community, and a genuinely friendly and fantastic community that's willing to teach and work with you. The session time also doesn't have to be measured in hours, unlike say in DCS. PVE matches I find are usually from 30 minutes to an hour. As far as input methods go, keyboard and mouse is fine, controller is fine, and a HOTAS is fine. I personally use a HOTAS, as I'm coming from a DCS background. That said, this game is a fantastic entrypoint into the flight sim genre, and no previous experience is required to have fun. Just sublime. Get it.
This game sat on my wishlist for a while, but quite frankly, it was Drewski's first video on the game that convinced me. I grabbed it in January '26 on sale for I think 25% off and I haven't looked back. To be clear, this game is not a hardcore milsim, but it is absolutely a blast and has a pretty high level of realism for the setting--two nations sharing an archipelago in the late 21st century using mid-21st century technology. You have a realistic fixed amount of hardpoints and weapons, so you will be RTB to rearm and refuel on a regular basis--no unlimited or outrageous ammo capacity. I work from home and my gaming and working space are the same. Despite the hassle, I sometimes even find myself jumping over to the gaming rig and pulling the hotas out of storage on a lunch break, if only to play a couple quick SEAD/DEAD solo runs on my favorite custom maps. The map editor takes a bit of getting used to, but it has a decent level of features and capabilities, and the developer is updating this actively. The variety of aircraft is excellent, and I don't see the creator slowing down the pace at which he adds new craft any time soon. There are also some "unofficial" mods that add the capability to add custom aircraft. Quite frankly, I find myself just running the vanilla game most of the time, although I do like to restrict aircraft to a given side if only to add some additional realism. I believe this also enhances the gameplay because it requires you to develop specific tactics to counter planes that you may not have access to. Kinda surprised I've racked up 400 hours already, considering I barely have time to game anymore, but it's been one of my go-tos this year. I highly recommend it to anyone who enjoys an excellent military flight simulator that gives you a map editor and the ability to play your custom creations with friends.
I've only played 8 hours so far, honestly, it's great, the damage model on all the aircraft is awesome, I prefer PVE, want to come home after work and jump in and blow stuff up for a couple of hours
