Reviews
I don't really do reviews, but I wanted to do a review to support this game, especially since it's showing as "mixed." I play a lot of hidden object adventure games, and I find some of the puzzles really annoying and the solutions to "quests" often don't make sense. So, if you're looking for that type of super challenging game, no, this isn't it. But if you don't like headache-inducing games, and you're looking for cute and fun and campy, this IS it. It caused me no stress and frustration, and it was purely relaxing and entertaining. The characters were colorful, the puzzles were fun and easy, and the story sad but good enough for me. It's a great easy game for your off day after a rough work week. I'd give this game a chance, especially if you'd like some relaxing fun. Hope you enjoy! :)

Noir Chronicles: City of Crime is a hidden-object detective tale that leans fully into the familiar trappings of the noir genre, presenting players with a moody city drenched in shadows, rain, and unresolved secrets. At its center is Alfred Fox, a private investigator whose weary demeanor and complicated past make him a natural fit for the story’s smoky atmosphere. His routine existence is abruptly disturbed when an urgent call from his former lover leads him straight into a murder case filled with corruption, betrayal, and personal stakes. The game wastes no time establishing its tone: dimly lit alleys, flickering neon, and a lingering sense of danger set the stage for a mystery that unfolds in a classic but digestible fashion. The gameplay is driven by a steady alternation between hidden-object scenes, environmental puzzles, and episodic mini-games that serve as milestones in Alfred’s investigation. Each area presents a collection of interactive hotspots, with objects to collect and combine, simple mechanisms to manipulate, and clues that unlock the next piece of the story. The hidden-object segments follow traditional genre patterns—finding listed items across busy, cluttered environments—but they are complemented by smaller logic puzzles and scenario-driven challenges such as decoding locks, analyzing evidence, or matching patterns. These elements provide a consistent rhythm that keeps the experience engaging without overwhelming the player, making the game accessible for newcomers and reliably comforting for fans of Artifex Mundi’s formula. Visually, the game leans heavily on atmosphere, and this is where it delivers its strongest impression. Backgrounds are richly illustrated and imbued with a sense of place, capturing the grit and tension of a city where crime seeps into every corner. The lighting, shadows, and color palette evoke an unmistakable noir mood that pairs nicely with the game’s mystery-driven progression. While background art is often striking, character animations and cutscene work are less polished, sometimes feeling stiff or slightly disconnected from the environment. Despite these rough edges, the visual style succeeds in anchoring the narrative, giving weight and texture to each locale as Alfred’s investigation deepens. Narratively, Noir Chronicles plays it safe, embracing the standard beats of noir storytelling without pushing far beyond them. The plot moves briskly through familiar territory—an estranged lover, a tangled conspiracy, morally compromised figures, and a trail of clues that lead Alfred deeper into trouble. There are flashes of intrigue, and the story is competent for its intended scope, but it rarely reaches for emotional complexity or surprising depth. Still, within the context of a three-to-four-hour hidden-object adventure, the streamlined narrative works well enough to maintain momentum and provide context for the series of puzzles and searches that make up the core gameplay loop. The game’s short length is both a strength and a weakness. On one hand, the pacing keeps things moving quickly, ensuring that scenes rarely overstay their welcome. On the other, the brevity limits the opportunity for character development, worldbuilding, or puzzle variety. Some mini-games repeat in slightly altered forms, and while the hidden-object scenes are competently assembled, they do not diverge much from established conventions. The bonus chapter included after the main story adds a bit of extra content, but it functions more as an epilogue than a substantial expansion, offering closure rather than new narrative avenues. Where Noir Chronicles ultimately finds its identity is in its ability to provide a relaxing, atmospheric puzzle experience rather than a groundbreaking adventure. For players seeking an approachable detective-themed diversion, with satisfying hidden-object scenes and a steady flow of light puzzles, it accomplishes its goal with confidence. Its noir setting lends personality to an otherwise modest structure, and the moody presentation makes the investigation feel more immersive than the simple mechanics might suggest. It may not impress players searching for narrative sophistication or mechanical innovation, but it stands as a solid, enjoyable entry in Artifex Mundi’s catalog—compact, stylish, and engaging enough to fill an evening with a dose of mystery and noir ambience. Rating: 6/10
As a fan of Hidden object games, This is a great one. the objects are easy to find for senior eyes! the puzzles are really challenging, sometimes even I have to give up and click the skip button. A great game for the money.
Hidden object... hidden object? hidden object! :)
