"Nobody's Home" is a VERY short survival RPG where you play a partygoer trying to escape the aftermath of a party gone wrong. The main deal here is resource management (maybe THE gameplay-schtick of "oates") and it feels fresh and rewarding (maybe because it is so short). The premise and setting are eerily hilarious and the "working things out as you go" is quite intuitive! It only takes around 15-20 minutes to beat for the first time, but there are several endings to it! Definetly a recommendation for a short and unique fix!
I'm a HUGE fan of Oates' other game, No Delivery, and I was so excited to play a similar game by the same creator!! Nobody's Home is worth the asking price - and I do mean that. It's a fun bite-sized piece of horror with lots of little secrets and details to stumble across. It's definitely got Oates' signature all over it - sound design, resource management, story threads - so if you like their other stuff you'll like this. It's a quick play with different endings to unlock. My only gripe is the fact that it costs you a resource to save - VERY aggravating. I get that it's supposed to push you to take risks, and that the game is quick enough to replay a few times, but it's deeply irritating to have to go through the entire game just to see what would've happened if you picked the other answer/walked a different direction in the very last stand at the end of the game. Overall, I do recommend this if you're looking for something spooky and simple.
Honestly, didn't like. The fact that it forces you to choose between saving and giving cigs to a strange entity, and the heavily limited resources, forced damage, cheap shot traps, and the hardcore death (that is: die once, game over) breaks too much from what Oates usually does, and kills most of the appeal. Pass on this one.
Отличная короткая игрушка на час от силы. Весьма умело сделано для проекта на RPGMaker'е
"this is a wrong place" 🖤🖤🖤 🟩 atmospheric 🔷 vhs 🔴 dull vibes: crunch loops: walk on glass, press confirm, use healing item, repeat ramblings: this has kind of a neat atmosphere, and maybe a kernel of a neat idea for a game underneath it, but mostly its just kind of a poorly designed boring trip. the main loop is not very interesting, consisting of a slow irritating baffling game of repeatedly going into the inventory to use your plentiful healing items because every other moment requires stepping on glass that takes your health with the occasional 'fight' that involves no thought. while i kind of liked the vibe of what the final ending was going for, it just was not worth the time of getting the endings.
