♥♥♥♥ game, the only thing good about it is the game idea and the art style. If you lose a limb, it's impossible to complete the level, because you will not be able to move around as fast anymore. The levels are also way too hard and it's more about knowing where to move than by having good reflexes
Great game. Fun and addictive.
Whether or not I recommend this game depends on what type of person you are. If your only goal is to reach the credits, then I think the game is worthwhile. The game itself is interesting without being complicated, the levels are visually appealing (by pixelated subterranean standards anyway), and even at regular price it's fairly inexpensive. You'll die a lot while you learn each level's layout, which is something I usually can't tolerate, but here I never found it overly frustrating. Sure it's annoying when you die in the same spot for the twentieth time, but since each level is at most 30 seconds long, death is never too much of a loss. All told, you should be able to reach the credits in an hour or two, depending on how good your reflexes are. If you're the type of gamer who wants to get every achievement, then you might instead end up like me, with 12.9 hours of play time. And I don't recommend that sort of time investment. Nine of the achievements are easy, and you'll unlock them without trying. The tenth achievement (Underground Superstar) requires you to beat the high score on each level. And the high scores are not generous. If you lose a limb, you probably won't beat the high score. If you aren't using your speed boost for 80% of the level, you probably won't beat the high score. For the first several levels this isn't a huge challenge and you simply need to memorize where all the obstacles are. But around the midway point there are two new obstacles you have to start dealing with: 1) extended narrow sequences, which means you have no physical room for error; 2) moving obstacles (ie. spinning fans), which means the positioning that got you through an obstacle on a previous run won't work if you reach that obstacle 0.5 seconds sooner/later. And that's what took up so much of my time. I went from beating the high score on level 9 after twenty minutes to beating the high score on level 10 after two hours. Because of how much time I sunk into this game, I also feel qualified to criticize the dismemberment mechanic. How it works is that, depending on how you hit an obstacle, you might only lose a limb instead of dying outright. It's both a funny idea and it's a completely justifiable reason to deduct points from your score. But losing a limb also slows your movement speed, so much so that it will be impossible to avoid most of the remaining obstacles. Which I feel makes the feature ultimately pointless, because instead of being a substitute for death it only delays it by a few seconds. In short, I like the game and hate the achievements. I wish I hadn't bothered beating the high scores and I encourage you not to either. My dollars-to-hours ratio wouldn't have been as good, but I would have had a happier experience.
I Hate This Game!!! Don't waste your time. I guess while making 'Hollow Knight' Team Cherry were inspired by this game, in terms of that in a good game a player's hitbox should NOT be half the screen.
A short and sweet game about free falling through caves, surprisingly engaging and offers as much fun as you could expect for the price. Check out https://store.steampowered.com/curator/41559946 for more recommendations!
Simple and challenging reactionary game. 8/10
