The game makes you feel like a real ethical hacker. Everything looks very realistic. Suitable for beginners in cybersecurity, because the interface is user-friendly, gives the necessary tips, And of course you need to look for a solution yourself, relying on knowledge taken from the Internet. Do not forget to keep pens and a notebook nearby, you will have to write down a lot :)
So much fun! It's so many things to do, you never get bored. Great to play at night to tire your brain out for a good sleep lol.
Fun and engaging, with references to actual methods and tools. Highly recommended. I play on a Lenovo latop running Fedora Linux 43 without any issues.
This game is fantastic until the servers drop. I was hooked and played for two days straight before hitting a connection wall. The Discord was buzzing with the same complaints, so it's clear the game is strictly online only you can’t play a lick of it without a stable internet connection and operational servers.
Like apparently all games in this genre, it loses its luster pretty fast and you get stuck doing very routine inputs with little variety and trivial investigative work, which in the case of xkeyscore is just more heavily curated automated processes. You will never hit a roadblock until it's something entirely new to you since it wasn't in the tutorial, like rerunning sfuzzer or running IPs through Bing to access more subdomains, or entering information in the password attacker to make it faster/at all possible. A big part of this is you're not allowed to fail or sprawl during your investigative work. You are only ever given relevant information at all times (except this one random bounty mission where you can access every single account for an entire paper). Even if and when you are presented with a roadblock, the answer is always just to kick the door in with a loaded email and wait for some company idiot to open it. Only once do the parameters for the email even matter, and it's all spelled out for you, because it has to be. All in all: Short, linear, style over substance. Also a stacking window manager? Really? Oh and also it's always-online, yet the internal access for doesn't even work, so there really is no reason this. And bring back the demo.
Captures the middle ground between real-world InfoSec vs the cinematic experience. The art direction is top-notch, I can tell this game has been designed with great care and attention to detail.
great game
Awesome game
Amazing game.Excellent tutorial that explains all of the tools and how to use them. You dont need any prior linux or coding experience to play this. All of the tools are based off of real life pentesting tools, but are simplified for the game. The story is great, definately keeps you intersted until the very end.The main story doesnt invole any out of game research, but the open world missions do. Open world missions I would reccomend holding off on until completing the story. Most of them involve out of game research which is awesome. The game keeps things interesting as in the way you use the tools. There is always more than one way to use all of the tools in the game.I got stuck a few different times in the main story and once I realized what I was missing, it made me think of the situation in a whole different light. You will understand what I mean by that when you play thru the story. I jus wish they put out more DLC or open world missions. Hope for a sequel.
