Literally finished the tutorial and immediately upon getting my first mission i talk to an npc and right next to the npc is a store with a bunch of gay pride crap, get your pedo grooming crap out of our video games. comments disabled because of pronoun queerdos trying to assuming I'm projecting, if you have pronouns your opinion is irrelevant when i stated my opinion on a mechanic you're punched in the face with.
I really enjoyed Astroneer and the dlc and have finished both, even getting all achievements so when i heard that they were making a new game, starseekers, i was really hyped for more content and especially a new game! So on launch day i bought this game and played it for a solid 2 hours and giving it a fair chance, i didnt like it at first but i continued, hoping it would improve. but it didnt. i have since refunded the game as i was simply disappointed.
Repetitive, Rushed, gone is the satisfaction of building (as found in Astroneer). Now you have a mini backpack and have to store everything in a vault... and the materials you're storing aren't used for building anything fun. I'm not totally sold on this yet... it's a grind that goes nowhere. If you get the game on discount... and put in at least the 57.9h I have (at the time of this post)... is it worth it... maybe.. just for the entertainment... But I don't think it comes close to the fun and enjoyment found in the replaying of the original Astroneer.
The first Astroneer was so much fun. But this one was a totally let down like it was cool to be able to fight monsters and have it an open world where random ppl could join. But to take building completely out of the game was the most heartbreaking i have ever felt in a game and i've played Ark Survival. like you could have made a private world where you have friends join to build kinda like Trove. Just heartbreaking
Astroneer is a lonely, beautiful game about building and exploring, crafting and sustaining an ever-expanding industrial network of resources and tools to dig deeper into the mantle of many worlds and to fly between those worlds experiencing joy, wonder, and mystery. STARSEEKER: Astroneer Expeditions has NONE OF THAT. So if you thought "I loved Astroneer, I should buy this game" NOPE. Think again! But if you played Arc Raiders and thought "The problem with extraction shooters is the PvP, if I could just go pick up arbitrary junk in a field and hang out in the Tower from Destiny 1" then BOY DO I HAVE A GAME FOR YOU. This game is designed to promise "we're about to be Astroneer ANY SECOND NOW" through an introductory loop that takes just long enough that you won't get the refund. Don't let them trick you. ------------------- EDIT ------------------- Anyhow, the developer is all over the negative reviews saying "wow, thanks for your feedback, but this is actually a different thing from Astroneer; also, our microtransactions aren't really transactions because they only use earnable currencies" I have four responses. 1) Just let people be disappointed in your disappointing game. It's a failure for your core audience, and will be completely uninteresting to the PvP-focused market you're trying to break into. I think you guys clearly lost a lot of the creative vision and unified purpose that made Astoneer good. You only have the one audience, and you've abandoned them. I'm not sure you'll get them back by playing the "pick me" card in the comments. 2) No problem, we're wrong to compare it to Astroneer. Cool. Take the name "Astroneer" out of the title and stop selling it as "Astroneer, but More." 3) It's a cosmetic shop bait and switched with a "single player" label on top of a consumable upgrade loop that is unfulfilling, slow, and pointless. We already knew it wasn't Astroneer. What we actually all mean is "man, I expected more from the kinds of people who would make Astroneer." 4) The only bad thing about microtransactions is not that you have to spend money on the game. It's also that the mechanics that exist around microtransactions ARE NOT FUN. You didn't make your microtransactions more fun by making them more grindy. Congratulations on making your game worse, somehow, by not having microtransactions.
Chill and satisfying. I haven't played Astroneer in quite some time but knew going into this game it was going to be a different kind of relaxing adventure. I'd recommend this to anyone who wants to wind down and do some collecting; which by the way is pretty satisfying to vacuum up. It's obviously in Early Access so there's only a few major zones, so I'm looking forward to more tasks and missions being put out. You can team up to 4 players total, other people can be on the planet with you but it's really a non worry issue: anything you collect nearby another person, they'll get the same that you're collecting too so don't need to worry about resource hogging - and it's not like you'll always run into someone, only a few people out in the world. If you end up losing all your health and going down, at least you can have someone try to help you back up which is nice. On top of that, even if you can't communicate vocally or through text, the community seems pretty chill. There's a store that features only in game currency (No real money involved unless you want to *support the developers*, otherwise the only way to get the currency is via playing the game) for a good amount of cosmetics that's currently released and you can customize the pieces by size, placement and rotation which was a nice little feature. Overall I've been enjoying my time playing with my friends and family, the vacuuming, the movement tech, and helping others getting their tasks complete has been enough to keep me coming back to this. Can't wait for more content!
was pretty fun for a while then it became repetitive and tedious
Might change this review later in development but as of now i can not recommend...Its just boring and its 30 min missions get old very fast...i love astro but so far cant really stand this game.. they took was good about astro out of this game and replaced it with 30 minute collection runs and random drops on the planet so you cant even have a choose as to wear to land.
