Great game, as someone who isn't really interested in metroidvania's, I highly recommand it!
New tag needs to be introduced "Parry" because that's all this is. The damage is overtuned; you miss a parry and will die in 3 hits. No reason for Yingzhao to have 2 phases. By then past refund time though.
I really like this game. it gives me a feeling like I'm playing a long lost cousin of Hollow Knight and Silksong. its hard but so hard I rage quite. the art is magnificent and the graphics are hard to beat. it tells such a wonderful story and the sounds and music give me chills. just the pause menu is cool. If you like tough platformers and are a fan of Japanese styled games then this one is for you! 10/10!
What a fantastic game, one of my top 3's right now. Positives: Firstly, the main focus of this game is combat, and it excels in it. Im not an avid fan of parrying focused games. I am terrible at parrying in every other game but this game does it well enough that I can manage it. The rhythm of the bossfights are also a highlight, the clanging of the percise parry noise just feels therapeudic, especially when you get a lot in a row. The bossfights are very well designed for the most part, although the minibosses for some reason are harder than some of the main ones. Not because they're better but just because they spam more for no reason. However, literally none of the bosses in this game have a challenging runback. Secondly, while the game is combat focused, I didnt expect the traversal and level design to be so good. Its genuinely quite fun to do the parkour challenges, and the world is filled with interesting puzzles to solve too. Definitely surprised me with that aspect. Lastly, the story is quite good, with lots of dialog to flesh out the character if you like reading. Personally, I cant read so It took a while for the plot to click. But its a decent enough plot, standard hero stuff. The characters are quite precious though, even if most of them are just glorified vendors. Shuanshuan is a precious lil guy. Negatives (kinda nitpicky) When I think of a metroidvania or soulslike I always imagine a very atmospheric experience. Which I think this game kind of misses the mark. Yeah sure the art of the world is beautiful but it doesnt really have the atmosphere of a crumbling world up until the end. And its a real shame too, because atmosphere can really make or break an area of any game. Which is why I think that the areas of Nine sols are more forgettable than that of Hollow Knight or Blasphemous because it lacks atmosphere. A little nitpick of mine is also that the game constantly shoves you into unnecessary "cutscenes" or perspective shifts that just pause the game. Like whenever you open a door or click a button it will pause your game for a good couple of seconds. Which I really dont like, or maybe im just impatient. My last point is not really a complaint, but more of a warning? I have a really bad wrist and fingers from constantly using a mouse or pencil, so having to parry frequently does tire me quite fast. So maybe dont play this game if you have a bad wrist lol. overall, 9.5/10, but also super underrated because this game never got as much attention as other metroidvanias/soulslikes for some reason. It really deserves it!
Slightly less forgiving than Sekiro, in a good way. Surprisingly great characters and story. Unapologetic themes. Sekiro-Hollow Knight Cat is very good.
that feeling when theres some major game progession about to happen but you found an item that said "can be gifted to shuanshuan"
EIGONG GOSTOSAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA
Cat-Sekiro got hands
its great
