My first thought when I saw this game was Sub-Terrania on the Sega Genesis. Underground, space ship, gravity mechanics, fighting space aliens, and there were even upgrades to collect along the way. Now I'm gonna have to go back and listen to that OST again, so thank you for that. Admittedly, when I saw the Metroidvania tag on the game, I was expecting it to be one connected adventure, so I was a bit confused that the game runs stage by stage without direct connections between levels. But honestly, I'm not bothered by that at all, I'm still loving the return of a type of physics-centered gameplay you don't get very often in 2D. Game's good, feels fun, and you can race on the leaderboards to brag to your friends, so I'm not gonna complain.
Here's my rapid fire review for the game! https://youtube.com/shorts/qRSca2ynOx8 In short, I loved it. Very creative throwback to the good old days. This eerie charming world that both includes speedrun like stages as well as massive sprawling metroidvania like levels a boss to take down. It is a challenging but fair game with tons of tools in its toolbelt to squeek out wins in any and all situations. If you're a fan of physics based navigational action adventure type games, sprinkled with some puzzle elements, You'll be right at home here!
The physics-based thruster controls are the real star here. At first they feel simple, but the deeper you go, the more you realize how much skill and precision the game demands. Every landing, every maneuver feels earned, and when things finally “click,” it’s incredibly satisfying. It’s the kind of game where failure teaches you something instead of just frustrating you. What really impressed me is how well the Metroidvania-style progression blends with the mechanics. Unlocking new abilities like shields, boosts, and zero-gravity movement genuinely changes how you approach exploration and challenges. The level design keeps evolving alongside your skills, so it never feels repetitive. The difficulty is definitely on the tougher side, but it’s fair. If you enjoy games that respect your intelligence and don’t hold your hand, this is absolutely your kind of experience. It captures that “just one more try” feeling perfectly. (And if you are struggling, the developer was kind enough to make some maps in their wonderful manual.) Also worth mentioning: the atmosphere and retro-inspired presentation give it a ton of charm. You can tell this was made with passion, and it really shows in the details. Overall, this is a hidden gem for anyone who loves skill-based gameplay, physics mechanics, and classic-style challenges.
This game keeps me coming back for more and as a casual gamer it suits me well, it reminds me of those lunar lander type games we used to have on the gameboy and I haven't really seen anything like it recently. Each section of each level gives its own unique challenge and it really feels like a realistic take on what the storyline sets out for in trying to escape an underground maze in a makeshift rocket ship. Some of the challenges are difficult and some I have yet to get myself co-ordianted enough for (those towers you need to charge up), but most of the 'completionist' type puzzles like this which are difficult can be bypassed as long as you can make it to the end of each level. You can easily come back later to find and complete the little bits you've missed. I am enjoying trying to make it through each level and come up with strategies to survive the various situations you encounter. This game is all about mastering the controls of the ship, knowing which direction is up even when gravity is reversed or your engines get disabled, and the physics of the various tools you pickup along your journey to counter the hostile environment you face on the path to freedom! The physics of the laser are great which serves as a gun to remove obstacles, a quick reverse gear (by recoil) and to destroy or bash away enemies in a tight spot. combining several tools you can stabilise yourself with anti gravity, line up a shot, shoot and then boost away with your shields on. If you get stuck you can use antigravity and the gun to reverse out. I am looking forward to getting to the end of the main levels so I can run back through to attempt to complete each level 100%. Also the really large levels are amazing, but I feel like I missed so much on some of them, I would love to see a way to go back/ 'fast travel' to a previously gained checkpoint so I can explore each area completely!
This game made me rage quit 17 times, I died over 800 times in the 30 hours it took me to beat it. It was soo much fun and hella rewarding when I finally finished it. Do not skip collectibles.

The only and single reason why I don't recommend this game because the actual game is NOT AT ALL what you would expect from a game that is using this thruster/gravity combination. So anyone like me who tought this is like the others that uses such movement WILL be dissapointed the same way. For anyone else, this is a platformer trough and trough, except instead of airdash, double jump and all that common in platformers, you have the gravity/thruster combo, and a variety of abilities to manipulate your movements to do cool manuvers and hit time scores with the leader board literally in your face. The metroidvania aspect is there. You get new stuff, upgrade some to achive more efficiency and get to places you couldn't before by going back to maps you been before. The movement of the truster/gravity, the camera, the "allowance" of knocking the wall ALL perfect, even running out of fuel gives you a level of control, you might desire. The abilities are all well defined and multipling the gameplay, really cool (if you into that). A very good time attack platformer. Graphics, UI design, asthetic, sound everything is really really good, and well tought trough, except one thing. As a hobby developer i happened to program the same game also in UE in hopes to have a nice graphics for my game, and found out why I belive this game was a mistake to program in UE. The physics in UE is working to the 4-5-6th decimal, especially on high frame rate the input and calculations are so precises that even if you live forever and FARM this game, you likelly never ONCE could reproduce the exact same imputs that would resoult the exact same fly path you got that one time. Some people might like that if you get lucky and farm a particular time attack you aim for just as much you hit those decimals and got an unbeatable score, some other people might consider they prefere repeatable way of going at speedruns, like mario with a predictable frame rate and other old games for that reason to replicate and train yourself to perform the best possible route. I personally think the later should be the norm, and not atribute a persons unbeatable score to luck, cuz thats what he had, something the original person wouldn't be able to replicate, like ever. So for that reason i think UE was a poor choice to make a time attack platformer.
At first I liked the challenge of this game, but the longer I played it, the more frustrated I became. It's fun to have challenges, but this game is so unforgiving that it makes me wonder what the dev was thinking when making it. Any micro-corrections in the controls lead to a loss of control of the spacecraft and a loss of time. That's fine; you can correct, but one of the core mechanics is you race these sparks around tight corners to upgrade the craft or unlock an ability. First, if you overshoot or tap a wall, it spins you out of control; this is on normal difficulty. The second maddening mechanic is areas of wind; it blows you back during the racing. Any movement too slow or not upgraded, and you get stopped, restarting the whole process. To make matters worse, even if you outrace the spark, it punishes you for not landing at the end before the spark reaches the platform. After trying to obtain one ability in the first main dungeon more than 60 times, I stopped playing—not because of my skill, but due to the game's lack of forgiveness. I played the Dark Souls and Up series of games, beating them; this game is by far much more rage-inducing and minimally rewarding. It's like Lunar Lander for sadists. Further playing this game would have led me to destroy my controller and my sanity. Maybe I'll pick it up again another time, but due to the extremely high skill level, I just don't see that it's worth spending time practicing the mechanics while juggling gravity and seeing minimal returns. If you want rage-inducing, controller-destroying 8-bit madness, then this is the game. For me, that is reserved for Dark Souls and old emulated games. Example: Rock Man for the NES. You died too many times; you had to start from the beginning. This game just taunts you. says, "Get GUD," then poops all over your chest.
