What a pleasant blast from the past. I had found memories as a kid of playing the game this one is based on, and this one delivers. If you liked the original flash game, this is well worth the $5. I would love a sequel with more levels.
Amazing game. A must have :)
I have played Nightfall Hacker to full completion, down to all of its achievements and all of its endgame content. I find it to be a very good game with a decent amount of content. While it is certainly not hard, the game's AI is quite effective and a lot smarter than the AI of the game it is inspired by. It might not be as coordinated or as strategic as a human player and it doesn't always know the most effective moves, but it's not that easy to fool under most circumstances either. For instance; you have to learn how the AI thinks in order to get certain strategies or tactics to work the way that you want them to. The level of AI is complemented by the strength, variety and numbers that the enemy side often gets to control, in a variety of different scenarios. Some maps make fighting easier for the player while others make it harder for the player. Even so, the player has a huge variety of tools at their disposal, which combine to form a large variety of strategies. For you, the game could easily be about finding the best strategies that win with the greatest ease, OR the game could be about trying to win with as little as possible. Overall, the game's fun lies in its moderately competent AI, enemy variety, situation variety and massive room for different strategies and optimisation.

If you intentionally found your way here, I can't imagine the $4 not being worth it. The original campaign (without story elements) is archived within and there's a completely new campaign with innovative new programs to use including a story that actually has a couple elements of choice mixed in. The story is no more compelling than the original lego writers, and to be honest I'm ultimately just disappointed the choices prevent me from playing all the levels. The programs also became so overpowered the dev didn't seem to be able to keep up with the level design; End-game difficulty felt "cheasy." I'd say the custom map-maker more than makes up for it's flaws, I just wish I could imagine a hidden gem like this having the community to make use of it.
DO YOU WANT TO RELIVE A LEGO GAME FROM 2002? DO YOU FEEL OLD READING THAT? WELL, NOSTALGIA AHOY. also if you've never played the nightfall incident, it's a very strategic turn based game, with multiple ways to approach the win condition.
Super cool game, I played the original Spybotics and I find that this game essentially is just more of that. I do have to admit this game is inferior in many ways to the original - graphics are limited both in battle/menu/no cutscenes, the game doesn't have as cool as music as the original. Regardless I'm quite happy that someone went and remade this game from my childhood that I love so much and just getting more of that grid-based goodness is enough for me, especially for the low price tag.
Great so far. I spent years trying to remember and re-experience this game, and I'm glad you've re-made it. It's lacking the story charm from the original, but I'm fine with the gameplay. Also, there's a bug. If you click the searchbar for programs during a battle, you can't click out of it. Overall, I'm happy with my purchase.
nostalgia
The original source material has a special place in my childhood, it's unique yet approachable. I can only feel elated to see someone else feel the same way about this random Shockwave game and innovate further on the blueprint it laid on top of introducing a modern remaster of the old game. A true spiritual sequel.
