About

In News Tower, dive into the chaos of 1930s New York in a management tycoon game where you build and manage your own newspaper.
From the Great Depression to the brink of World War II every Sunday brings a new deadline, and every article is a strategic decision. Between editorial dilemmas, newsroom breakdowns, and political pressure, you’ll shape the future of your newspaper to start your media empire!

Start with a blank floor and shape your newsroom from the ground up. As your newspaper grows, unlock new levels and transform each one into a fully functional hub of journalism. From printing stations and compositing desks to the legal corner for damage control, every workstation is key to keep the presses running.
Smart layout choices: walls, elevators, pneumatic tubes directly impact how efficiently your team works under pressure. And because morale matters too, add coffee machines, posters, and the essential indoor green plant to ensure your employees’ well-being!

Reporters, photographers and janitors without forgetting the unexpendable ads salesperson… Lead a diverse team across 30+ unique job roles each with their own traits, needs, and expertise.
Juggle hunger, focus and logistics to maximize productivity. Unlock dozens of upgrades from gramophone to slot machines, to turn your dingy tower into a prestigious workspace. A happy newsroom is a productive newsroom, especially when Sunday is always just around the corner.

Each week begins with one goal: getting your edition ready for Sunday’s deadline. Assign leads to your reporters, choose your editorial approach, influence public perception through your chosen tone and tags, and compose your newspaper.
Cover key topics like Crime, Politics, or Sports, and refine your story’s angle to match your editorial line. Well-researched articles or eye-grabbing headlines, will you aim for respect or reach?
Every choice impacts your readers’ perception, reactions, and sales. Nail the mix and profits soar or miss the mark and you risk backlash, lawsuits, or courtesy visits from the mob...

Four major factions partake in the city’s power struggle: the Mayor, the Mafia, the Military (in 1.0), and High Society. They’ll push their own agendas and offer shady deals in exchange for cash, influence, exclusive rewards, and vital new connections across the Big Apple. Whose truth will you print, and whose secrets will you bury?
Not everyone is in favor of freedom of the press…

Publish your newspaper across NYC districts, from Harlem to Wall Street. Each borough has its own reader profiles, preferences, and rewards. To grow your subscriber base, tailor stories to local tastes while staying ahead of two aggressive rivals: the Empire Observer and Jersey Beacon. They’ll steal your precious scoops but by targeting the right interests, you can win their audiences and become New York’s most influential publisher.

For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 23 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 14 places towards #1, and the 2,420 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.

I have owned this game for just under 8 weeks, and have played it for more than 160 hours. I've been trying to analyze why I have been so obsessed with this game since I bought it: a big part of it is definitely the structure. It is by its nature a long game, because it goes for 10 years and you play a week at a time, gathering and preparing your news stories all week before releasing an edition of your paper every Sunday. But the fact that you're essentially playing in one-week "rounds" that last about 10 minutes means that this game is a major contender in the "just one more turn" category. There's also the fact that while the game has overall goals - boosting your readership, defeating the two competing papers - it's designed so that you set smaller goals for each week. There are six categories of news, and a good number of tags of varying rarity. Each week, you can set two goals: one will target a specific neighborhood, which you win over to your readership by printing stories with the specific tags they're interested in, and one will be to accomplish a specific task set by one of the power players in the city (the mayor, the socialite, the general, etc). This gives each week a unique combination of challenges to meet and keeps things equally engaging throughout the 10-year period of the game. Building and remodeling your tower is fun, especially as you uncover more items and features to improve employee morale and fight off the various threats you face. But that is a relatively minor component of the game overall. What really speaks to my innermost management sim desires is the weekly task of arranging my news stories to match as many tags as possible on each page of the paper. Not only does seeing the little "match" icon flash up satisfy something deep in my soul, making these matches increases your readership and therefore the money you make when you publish. After you publish each week, the game shows you a review of your performance on the challenges you selected as well as stats like how many papers you sold, and that's just inherently satisfying no matter how you did. The art style is charming and the music is the best kind for this sort of experience- immersive, not so interesting that it's distracting but interesting enough that you can hear it for hours without getting tired of it. I bought the game as a fully finished product so I was not really expecting substantive updates, but I've been surprised and pleased to see that the design team is still doing work and planning on more. The recent update adding difficulty levels was awesome: I was actually starting to get a bit bored in the endgame but the newly-added "hard' difficulty level made everything much more challenging. This is a fantastic game and I'd recommend it to anybody. Give the demo a try if it sounds at all interesting, and if you enjoy the demo you will absolutely love the game.
the idea is nice, let's give 8/10. gameplay is probably a 6/10, there are many "nice to have features" missing and some issues are kind of game breaking. there could be better explanation of how things work, you're depending on RNG a lot (unless your massively overpowered) and some other things are kind of weird. but once you figured out the mechanics you can have a lot of fun.
Not my usual type of game at all, but I’m completely hooked. I have played for 12 hours straight the last two days. It’s super chill and absolute freedom in how you play, but where your early mistakes actually haunt you later. The value for money is insane, highly recommend.
