I love this one. I really enjoyed playing it. You can find mystery atmosphere and lovely characters in here. It also the a horror though. I guess I'm running out of words to say, see it for yourself. For the dev:
I think some of backgrounds are a bit edgy (sharply). I believe I’d like to add some ambient shadows around characters\objects. You’ve done well with the atmosphere, but I feel like not all the objects and sceneries are following the common style. Maybe it’s just me. Looking forward second chapter :) Thanks for the game! Played through this game on itch.io and definitely had to come and support this game on steam too! An amazing game filled with head-scratching puzzles, but satisfying nonetheless when you complete them The characters in this game are wonderfully designed all the way from small interactions to how they match their personality. Without a doubt, the biggest draw to this game for me is the art style. Every single room is so beautifully polished, unique, and really enables you to immerse yourself in the world of Neverhome and follow Granger throughout her journey
Developer, Let it be known that: the sound files being standard .OGGs in the game files is a massive missed opportunity. After reading the note in the files, some of the sound effects are borrowed from stock sound websites. While I didn't see anything regarding the soundtrack itself being borrowed, it does say in the note that 'more' of the sounds used in the game are from other websites (with them linked below)... But if you made the SOUNDTRACK to the game yourself and sold it on steam, I would have 100% brought it. It's perfect. Even if you didn't make it yourself, I'd still have to congratulate your choices regarding the music, NOTHING felt out of place or forced in the soundtrack. It's Intense, Frightening, Melancholy, Calm, even soothing, and at all the times it has to be. Let me get this out the way: The game is A STEAL. The art is really unique, and an interesting take on the genre. It's somewhat reminiscent to Omori in the imagery and roughness around the edges (In a complementary way). The characters are pretty entertaining in their dialogue, It's funny without being too cheesy. As previously mentioned, the soundtrack is incredible. My only complaint has to be the controls, which are not great... but you *do* eventually get used to them. The game doesn't have a lot of sound effects, but the menu clicks and ticks are satisfying. The lack of a noise when using the knife is jarring at first, but I eventually found that it added to the atmosphere of the game; the knife isn't a weapon, it's a tool you use to navigate (though you *can* attack some enemies).
I low key ♥♥♥♥ myself when I died for the first time, the sound sound was quite unexpected.
I noticed that some reviews say that some sprites and backgrounds can be a little jagged, I played the game on a 4k monitor from a good distance and this *was* an issue, but it was the kind of thing you would forget about after playing for 5 minutes. The is was most easily noticed on Granger's bow, where some red pixels can be seen outside the faint outline while facing East. For the developer, I hope the feedback is useful to you, you've made an incredible game. And for anybody who likes classic style top-down horror, this game is a must have for the price. The RPG elements aren't very prevalent, but if you liked DELTARUNE and Omori then you *may* like this, though it may not quite be what you are looking for. If you liked those games and / or enjoyed the early Resident Evil titles then this hidden gem might be able to scratch that itch.
This game is amazing! I played it on itch.io and I really love the art style for it. The environments are very abstract and liminal and gives an unsettling vibe throughout the whole game. In terms of character design and enemy design, the enemies are horrifying and off-putting, and the characters have very distinct designs and personalities that I enjoy. The puzzles are also really creative - it took me a minute to get through some of them, but they never felt unfair. Overall, I'm really excited for a second chapter and I highly recommend if you're a fan of indie horror rpgs!
This game's charming characters, scrapbook-like art style, and original soundtrack stuck with me long after I finished it. Some of the hidden secrets pulled me into a rabbit hole of theories about what’s really going on behind the story, and I've even replayed it a few times trying to dissect everything. I don’t usually play games like this, but I’d recommend it to anyone with a few hours to spare- it gives you a lot for just a dollar. Can’t wait to see where the series goes next!
Really good and cute! Highly recommend it
(Writing this as of Chapter 2 just releasing and about to start it!) Even for a playtime of about 4 hours or so this STILL feels like a steal for its price with how quality it feels for the music, visuals, and just everything all-round. The puzzles have a nice balance of difficulty where it feels good to figure them out without being TOO frustrating, and while the combat feels the tiniest bit janky, combat only really comes in small spaced out doses enough where it doesn't become too much of a problem. Overall just a really nice time that nails the uneasy atmosphere you hope for from this type of game amazingly. also the character and creature designs absolutely rock
The game is peak, I played it and honestly I don't understand why it is so unknown. One of the best games I've played 10/10.
