In 2304, CyTech, a scientific research corporation and defense manufacturer revolutionized warfare after discovering ways to integrate artificial neural networks into humans, allowing soldiers to rapidly develop extraordinary abilities that would far exceed the opposition. However, after multiple generations had been tested in combat with great success, one generation found a way to surpass all other generations by multitudes by altering the genetic composition of the subjects. The subjects started experiencing mutations in their bodies, and over time were found to have experienced a rapid evolution into completely different beings.
This generation was found to be highly aggressive and hostile even towards the creators. Quickly the specimen, who viewed themselves as a superhuman race, rised against humanity and began creating clones of themselves to achieve superiority and control over the human population.
In 2325, you as part of mercenaries from Armorion, a private military contractor, were tasked to infiltrate the main research facility of CyTech to eliminate the rebelling specimens and end the production of new clones. The defense systems of the facility were dismantled and stripped down by the specimens, but the defense network was still connected and you were able to rearm the defenses by building turrets and traps into the existing defense pods. You will need to clear out the facility's sectors one by one and ensure the defenses are able to hold out any hostile specimens.

If you can look past the admittedly horrible graphics, you will find an excellent TD game. There is a great variety of traps, turrets and enemies. Maps are varied and play differently. There is a fun meta progression system for two classes and adjustable difficulty level. I do have a couple of issues with the game. First of all, the enemies have no attack animation and a longer than expected attack range. so getting hit feels really bad. Also the collison for shots is iffy around the corners. The soundtrack lacks variation and it's mostly just metal riffs (which I don't mind), so if you hate that you're gonna have to mute it. But all things considered, for the low, low price of 5$ you really can't go wrong with this game.
The game is a pixel tower defense featuring a hero. That is, this is tower defense There are 27 maps in the game, everything gets more complicated as you progress, the training is not intuitive, but it's easy to figure out. There are two types of hero in the game, an engineer and a sniper. Each has a different gameplay, but similar In general, the game is interesting, I think you can try it if you haven't played this genre before.
An exciting game, moderately difficult, in which you will have to think carefully about how to properly defend and repel opponents.
Good Tower Defense game. With control over your hero. Good variety of traps.
Great tower defense with a character and persistent progression. Defend against the ugly mutants and save humanity!
There is some very foundational jank that's making it hard to enjoy this game. Your projectiles don't originate inside your sprite, so you can easily get into situations where an enemy is in your face and you can't shoot them because your bullets spawn past the end of your sprite. Also, the controls are awkward. It's easy to get hung up on walls, and panning the camera around to your build sites feels like maneuvering a humpback whale. In a less demanding tower defense, these would be awkward but fine, but Neural Shock *really* wants you to be playing at maximum intensity at all times. This is difficult when the basic act of play feels bad. There's also a few rough patches that don't impact basic play, but do snowball into issues with more advanced elements. You have a lot of potential upgrades for both your character and your buildings, and this is wonderful. You can freely pivot out of bad builds, and this is great too. But most builds are bad. This is bad. There's a kind of foundational issue with the game's pathing which could be solved by, Arknights style, showing you where a given line of enemies is going to go. A lot of stages have wide open corridors where you can easily place traps on tiles that enemies will never enter. And nearly all turrets will only fire in a single line. So the only way to reliably hit enemies is to do it yourself (bad, slow, controlling your character sucks and you can easily get barrel stuffed and instantly eliminated,) or to use the aoe trap and aoe turret, at which point they trivialize the game's difficulty. I do not think this is a case where the mine and chopper need to be nerfed. But I really, REALLY think most traps should have a radius and all line turrets but one should fire in a narrow cone. The pathing is just too scuffed to justify having such restrictive ranges. The game's speed is also in an awkward place, where playing on 3x sometimes just lightspeed dunks an enemy past your picket line, but playing on 2x feels glacial. There's also a bunch of missions with "clear in X minutes" bonus conditions that require you to be playing on 3x from the moment you start AND never go into the build or upgrade menu, because doing so doesn't freeze the timer. Underneath all of this, there are definitely the bones of a solid TD. There's a Kongregate-y-ness to the whole thing that feels charming, the genuinely enormous swarms of enemies feel satisfying to clear, and there's a lot of room for player choice. The soundtrack is dynamic, and yes it's got the obligatory buttrock, but it punches wildly above its weight at times. I think the studio is worth supporting, and I'd like to see what they make next. However, did I have fun with what I played? No. The issues were small, but their frustration was sky high. I find this difficult to recommend vs other TDs. I'll play more and see if I can get a better sense of it, but I think it needs a few more tweaks before I can recommend it cleanly. Edit: Switching to thumbs up. Developer is both extremely chill and actively patching a lot of this stuff. 2nd Edit: So there's a weird contradiction at the core of this game, which is that your character with a weapon isn't very good. Your average turret is functionally invincible and does not require supervision. Your guy, on the other hand, gets stuck on walls and kites enemies when he's near them and is two taps from a necromorph away from becoming jam salsa and has either low damage (engineer) or miserable reload (sniper) making him not an especially effective way of pressuring enemies. At best, you can think of him as a way to make one narrow lane a bit more stable. This means that when you're building him, all of the things that affect his damage and reload and crit and whatnot are bad. All of the upgrades that affect his buildings are good. I have not played the engineer much, but I suspect this makes the engineer the VASTLY SUPERIOR character choice. As is, you have to lurch wildly across the sniper's trees to pick out the good nodes. 3rd Edit: Confirmed. The Engineer/Sniper class choice is a choice between the angel summoner and the bmx bandit. Sniper gets to crit more sometimes, but it's one of those 3% of 20% of 2.5% situations that is further exacerbated by their fire rate of once per minute. Engineer gets massive global construct buffs, construct cost reductions, starting money boosts, trap damage buffs, an instant respawn, and also a bunch of buffs to their gun? Their gun that's already better than the sniper's? And the buffs that they get to it are better than the sniper's? I don't think the engineer should be nerfed, but I think the sniper should start with a minigun and 3x movement speed to help them catch up. 4th Edit: Rolled credits on the current content. The game is in a weird place with regards to balance, being harder when you start and then mostly trivial once you get enough points to invest in rocket turrets. If you like seeing number go up, there's plenty of that here, but the skill point system and the challenges system really both funnel you into only picking one turret type and then mono-building it for the whole mission. The developer is actively improving the game, and I think that's worth supporting, but it's not currently a TD that makes you think like Gemcraft or a TD that makes you react fast like Kingdom Rush or a TD that's all in on storytelling and rpg elements like Arknights. I want to see where this style of design leads, so I'll check out the next title from the developer, but this one might be an ideal candidate for picking up on a sale.
A fun tower defense game with meta upgrades! -2 characters each with their own skill tree. One is for direct combat, the other focuses more on improving your turrets and traps. -42 levels. -6 mutators for each level that grant you slightly more experience. -4 different weapons and armor to unlock for each character, earned by completing challenges on missions. -Turret/trap upgrade points gained when your character levels (either character so don't focus on just a single one). -Each turret/trap can be upgraded up to 3 times (4 with some) with 3 different choices to choose from each time. -Gets challenging, but fair. -Not expensive and will get you hours of fun! This is easily one of my favorite tower defense games!
Wow, what a hidden TowerDefense Gem! This one is really fun, quite challenging and has, as far as i can tell, a lot of content. It seems that the further you get, the less important is your "active" game part if you choose so. ( In the first 5-6 missions the "run around and shoot" Part is more important. ) There are quite a lot of Skills to learn etc which define your PlayStyle. Since i like more the "Tinker with your traps" Part, i like that you have the possibility to do so. (However, some of the optional challenges are probably too tough for you to just sit back and watch :D ) All in All : Great TD !
Excellent game, well worth buying. No maze making element.
