Nethergate: Resurrection

I love this game. Obviously I always play as the Celts - magic and prowess with a spear as well as being friendlier with animals are advantages to being Irish. As well, the holy Roman empire can lick lick lick lick my balls. I only had the free version growing up so being able to explore the map is a real treat. The cheats are great craic to apply as well but they make the game very easy. Nethergate - that's a buy :D

This game needs more love. It is a unique setting with really intuitive and user friendly game design especially for its age. The graphics are basic but I like them and find them charming (maybe because I did not group up with games made for old school Macs). The game play is also very simple (and a grind) but can be very rewarding and like the rest of the game functions incredibly well in its simplicity. The sound design is pretty lacking but this is made up for by keeping the writing flowing and using sound as more ambivalence and background then a focus. I wanted to write a review just to leave this game some love. This game has a lot to offer and its the only game I know my party can slay dragons for the Glory of Rome.

Их игры всегда отличаются своеобразной ламповостью и разнообразием. Если есть несколько группировок или сторон конфликта можно ожидать разные сюжетные ветки и особенности у противников. Nethergate: Resurrection не стал исключением из общей канвы, выбираем римлян или кельтов и сражаемся за интересы Империи или освобождении Британии 1 века. Мир получился воистину уникальным, с кучей артефактов и настоящей магией. В детстве мне настолько зашёл процесс, что я со словарём английского сидел за игрой ночами, уж слишком много описаний встречается по пути. Кстати, эти тексты реально круто написаны. Интересной особенностью стало управление отрядом из 4-х человек, что редкость для спайдеров. Прохождение за каждую из сторон занимает примерно 30 часов. Из крупных недостатков - крайне неудобный интерфейс и традиционная проблема разработчика - куча лишних ненужных в процессе вещей и элементов. К сожалению сейчас играть в Nethergate очень сложно, уж больно архаично всё выглядит, но если вас это не останавливает, пробуйте обязательно. 8.0

I originally played this game many many years ago as a child. My grandpa had an iMac in his basement, and the demo came in one of those compilation CDs - was it a MacAddict one? My sister and I would play the demo over and over again together for hours during the summer, and finally we convinced my grandpa to pay for the full release. We loved this game- it had clever writing, an engrossing setting, and endless secrets. My grandparents are long gone and my sister and I are now middle aged, but every few years I still run through - always as the Celts. It's a treasure and transports me back to childhood.

先玩的Avernum系列再接触的Nethergate，相比之下Nethergate的操作要相对麻烦很多，大量操作都要借助键盘完成。 地图中有很多隐藏门，不使用法术的话基本只能靠脸去撞；洞穴中视野很小，没有法术的话探图很麻烦。 游戏没有自动存档，有些时候玩家会被剧情杀，没认真读文本或者贸然从高台上摔下来直接就死了，不管血量多少，很难受的设定；大地图上不会显示玩家位置；

100% recommend. Tons of depth in terms of historical/mythological stuff. appropriate difficulty level

Though ancient Britannia makes an interesting setting and getting to choose to play as Celt or Roman offers some replayability, this game appears in a very small screen, making it unplayable. If you can get the game to appear in full screen it might make for an interesting experience, especially if you like the Spider studio.

Great writing, decent gameplay, and a tolerable UI. Make sure to save your progress in different slots, as the game is unforgiving. I got soft-locked after saving right before encountering an overpowered enemy in a narrow passage, which resulted in my entire party being wiped out without a chance of escape.
