Really good casual game! The game has a great variety of weapons and powers. Even without a class system, the build freedom is excellent—you can play as a “mage,” a “warrior,” a hybrid, or whatever you like. The powers aren’t just clones with different colors either; they have different ranges, areas of effect, functions, and strengths, so you can create a wide set of unique builds. I recommend playing your first run slowly until you reach the end—it’s more challenging that way. But after that, try stacking the multiplier to 50~100x and you’ll get overpowered really fast (and yes, it’s fun, but not easy). For the price, the game is more than worth it! Simple, polished, and complete—especially impressive for a first Steam release. It’s not one of those “eternal early access” titles, it’s an actual finished game. Definitely recommended if you enjoy casual dungeon crawlers with freedom to experiment and replayability.
Awesome, casual dungeon crawler! Low price, decent atmosphere, and a perfect timekiller -until you meet the ice giant with a bubble shield in a skating rink of doom! Smooth movement (skating around is Fun!), raining icicles, holes in the ground.... You might have won this fight, but you have not won the war! I’ll get you soon, you giant piece of.. ice!
Necrodungeon is an indie-developed ode to dungeon crawler classics like Daggerfall or Eye of the Beholder, where you must brave through procedurally-generated levels whilst avoiding death and building your inventory. The item stacking is particularly fun to toy with, and possibly my favorite bit of the game. Exploring items so to build new combos and/or piling up stats for them is something you can spend a lot of time with. Death means an entirely clean slate to rebuild them, though, which may be good or bad news depending on how you enjoy your roguelikes. There are upgrades you can acquire outside the dungeon itself, but I wasn't too attracted to the mechanics of it nor the impact they had. The graphics totally fit the game and carry a charm of their own, but at times, I think certain mobs could've had a bit more polishing. Having played the game in alpha version and having seen the progress since then, it seems the developer is applied to keeping the game fresh and tweaking the parts that need it. Running on Windows, there was no performance lag nor crashes. Overall, this game is a totally positive product for its worth. If you like item stacking and some retro-looking fps dungeon crawlers, certainly give it a go. Best of luck to indie devs! It's always good to see a product of someone's passion =)
I wanted to like this game. It's got the exact PS1 style I like and the slow combat of a King's Field game. And the random dungeons are interesting, if not a little flat. But there's too many negatives. I would have preferred handcrafted, multi-level dungeons like Kings Field 2. The abilities are all kind of clunky, especially the lightning attack which never seems to hit. The gate keeper boss just auto kills you while having an insane amount of health. Generally, I think there needs to be more abilities. Leveling up reminds me of Vampire Survivor except there's barely any interesting choices. Give me more powers, more upgrades, and better levels and this could be a cool game. As it stands, it needs more time in the oven.
Dungeon crawler with a nice dark fantasy setting. The procedural generation keep things fresh. The story is subtle but makes you want more
The variety of magic is a good thing in this game and the variety of enemies as well, but the bosses are very weak, and this is frustrating.
I played threw most of the game while in its current form it has some frustrating issues the devs are working on improving it but right now the game really needs some quality of life changes. Also pleas allow us sell or dump skills as things are now you choose something your stuck with it. It would also be nice if instead of loosing all run progress on death you made it so we get sent back with like half or a 3rd of the gold and any levels we got during the run in its current state its very frustrating when you die at the end of a run or at a boss fight and loose all progress. It would also be great if there was a way to revisit old levels to appease the grinders of us out there. So in summary this is an good game with a few frustrating problems but I have hope in it and will keep an eye on it.
A finely crafted roguelike dungeon crawler. Simple enough to learn, but plenty of build variety to keep it interesting. Very modestly priced, too
Arx Fatalis meets Doom, It's challenging and engaging for a long time. the variety of possible builds adds to replayabiliity. The level design and enemies definetely deserve compliments on how well they work together to keep the pace thus not making it repetitive even if you die over and over. It's not the kind of game that will hold your hand and it's very straight forward. It's definetely worth checking it out, i personally like listening to music while playing it.
Good game. It's main idea is "items as skills", which is interesting concept, but feels underbaked. Primarily items deal damage, melee or range. And range items as "holy water" has a huge advantage at any distance and has no cons. Level up gives you a choose of a 3 items upgrades. Sadly it doesn't have interesting modifications, just stat raise. You can get additional slots to try some new items, but it's almost impossible to level them up in mid-late game. Also, there's no way to delete items from slots or sell them. Enemies can also be divided into range and melee category. They have interesting design, but doesn't create interesting combat situations. Melee monsters just slowly crawl into your direction, rangers shoot a single projectile. Both getting one/two-shotted by most weapons. Game is really easy when you don't play extremely greedy or rush. And actually it's more interesting to haste, because there's killing spree mechanic, more kills in row - more money you get from enemies. Money definitely should magnet to player, because you don't have time to pick them up, when you want to maintain combo, and backtracking is so slow. I kinda wish combos could affect items power, but it still funny. Money is mostly used for buying armor points. Armor is busted. You can levelup items my Librarian, but it's meaningless and too expensive. Librarian could be a good solution to quickly raise up item in mid game, if he had priority on low-level items. Dungeons is procedural generated and it doesn't have to, because there's no runs in this game, it's just a linear sequence of levels. Hand-made levels for a simple action game would work better and could create more interesting situations. Graphically it makes a good job to capture quake1/hexen2 era, but with a pixelation shader for some reason. Story is simple and I expected a twist with an evil church, but surprisingly there wasn't. Wish there was a sequel with a more thoughtful gamedesign. Definitely a good 2.5 hours for a price of a butter block.
