About
The story takes place in a post-apocalyptic world where only two humans have survived: the protagonist and the hero.
You will assume the role of the protagonist as she fights to survive alongside Harunashi Mika, the game's hero.
The game itself is a visual novel where the player will be frequently required to make tough choices in order to guide the characters through the harsh and unforgiving world they find themselves in.
Your choices will cause their relationship to develop and determine the conclusion of the story.
There are a wide variety of different endings.
The protagonist and Mika might simply work together to survive; they might develop romantic feelings for one another and become a new Adam and Eve; they might be unable to find common ground and go their separate ways.
Perhaps there are even endings where they choose to give up on life entirely...
Everything is determined by your choices!

The protagonist decides to participate in Navigatore, a new VR project produced by a popular internet program. There she meets with Harunashi Mika and decides to partner up with him.
When the two awaken and step outside, they find themselves in a barren, deserted landscape... one seemingly far too realistic to be the product of virtual reality.
As they get their bearings, they hear the voice of the program's announcer:
"A man and a woman placed in extreme conditions... can they survive? How will they survive? The audience is dying to find out! We're hoping for plenty of human drama and maybe a bit of romance!"
"The guided part of the tour is over. Your life in the wasteland begins now! We shall await the conclusion of your story with bated breath!"
An emotional, post-apocalyptic visual novel that combines the need to survive while falling in love. XD

Introduction
Navigatore of the Ruined World is a Japanese otome, futuristic visual novel developed by Primula and published by pencil. You take on the role of Hikari Momoi (whose name can be changed), a university student who applied and got accepted into a VR reality show called Navigatore of the Ruined World (thus, the name of this visual novel) in which she has to find a way to survive in a destroyed, post-apocalyptic world while possibly finding romance. After waking up in a cryogenic tube in the VR world and remembering how she got selected to be on the show, she meets Mika Harunashi, a freelance engineer who was forced to be on the show when his dad signed him up. The two of them decide to team up and find the other participants, all the while doing their best to survive. However, there seems to be something very off about this VR world... As for the gameplay, choices are frequently presented throughout the story, which takes place over the course of a random number of days, depending on its direction. While some choices are inconsequential in that you have to select all of them, others determine which one of 17 endings you get. Although there are a lot of bad endings, a few of them are happy ones. Plenty of CGs are shown as well as a varied soundtrack and Japanese voice acting for Mika and various other characters. (Only Hikari isn't voice acted.) Several Steam achievements are present, and they count towards a user's global total.
Review
When I first heard about Navigatore of the Ruined World, I couldn't help getting excited, mainly because it's by the same developer as the TAISHO x ALICE series. I just knew that I wanted to read this story, and thanks to the wonderful developer, a review copy was sent, so that I could check it out and give my thoughts. ^^
Story and Writing
I enjoyed how the story starts off, with Hikari feeling temporarily confused about being in a cryogenic tube until she remembers that she applied to be on a reality show but didn't expect to get chosen. Right away, I knew I'd be in for quite a story twist, and it doesn't hurt that I like stories which take place in post-apocalyptic worlds. Hikari has a bright, cheerful personality, which makes her likeable, and it especially pairs well with Mika, who has a quieter, more introverted personality. Depending on which choices are made, Hikari and Mika can either become very close to the point of falling in love or they realize that their personalities clash. While their blossoming romance is definitely one aspect of the story, there is more of an overarching story, with a huge twist in regards to the world they're in. I won't go into spoiler territory, but I'll just say that depending on how much attention you pay to the details, it'll either come as a surprise or not. (For me, it was the latter.) As for the endings, I like that there are a lot of them although only certain Steam achievements are tied to some, so you don't need to get all of the endings to 100% complete achievements. Still, if you are a completionist in general (like myself), then you'll want to go for all those endings and CGs, which can be a bit difficult without a guide. Thankfully, there is a wonderful Steam user guide, so if you're having trouble getting those couple of pesky endings, it'll help. ^^ I should caution that there are plenty of scary, horror moments, death, etc. As for the writing, it's paced well. There are slower, more emotional moments combined well with the exciting, heart-reacing ones. I played the English translated version, and it's very well done. I noticed a few typos, but the text is very understandable. A criticism that I've read is that the story is short, and I won't deny that. Still, I got so immersed in the world and getting to witness the relationship between Hikari and Mika blossom that the length didn't bother me.
Art and Music/Voice Acting
The art is very beautiful. The sprites and backgrounds are drawn and colored well. You can get really immersed in this post-apocalyptic world that's supposed to be the setting for the reality show. Especially, the CGs are so gorgeous, and here are a few of my personal favorites. ^^ https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3725183700 https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3725183838 https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3725183384 With the music, there's plenty of track variety. It ranges from the more upbeat tone to the scarier, horror filled ones in which you feel like you're running for your life. :o As for voice acting, I like that most of the characters, especially Mika, are voiced, and the voices fit well. I'm especially a fan of Mika's VA, which fits very well with his introverted personality. As for Hikari not being voice acted, I'm personally fine with this, but I can understand if some people are disappointed.
Conclusion
Would I recommend Navigatore of the Ruined World? If you're a fan of Japanese otome games, you like post-apocalyptic settings, you want a story that has (un)expected twists and turns, and/or you like getting Steam achievements, then this is definitely worth checking out. Although the story can be on the short side, I felt so immersed in the world and enjoyed getting all of the endings (yes, even the bad ones lol) and unlocking all of the lovely CGs. For the asking price, I think it's justifiable, considering that it's a brand new visual novel and the overall quality is very high, but you can wait for a sale. Finally, I'd like to give a major thank you to Primula for the review copy. It was a joy getting to know Hikari and Mika and seeing how their relationship blossomed in their world, despite the tragedy around them. ^^
The Introverted Gamer and Otome Rakuen team up to give readers highly detailed, thorough reviews of hot romance games.

No Responsibility Review,
I think Navigatore of the Ruined World / Hounavi was a decently written title despite its short length. The vn explored both characters well enough for me to be able to understand them and sympathize with their plight, however, I do have a few minor gripes... When this game was first announced and marketing for it began, I was on the fence on the idea of having a single love interest game where the protagonist is left unvoiced. While I know this is not the first game to introduce such a format, I think leaving Hikari (MC) unvoiced did not do this game any favors in terms of immersion. Especially with the setting of hounavi where they are the only two characters present in the game and no one else, the atmosphere of the VN itself felt....incredibly empty to me, because Mika is the only one who has a voice. The idea and main theme of hounavi (or at least what I think is the theme) is a story of two people offering each other companionship and support in a perilious world where everything is in ruins, I think it would have been better for the narrative for Hikari to have a voice, to deepen that sense of companionship and the idea that 'it's two people working together and trying to find their way to survive even if there is nothing left'. While playing, it just felt incredibly jarring for Mika to be the only one to have a voice,
especially there is no other character in the cast besides Hikari for him to bounce off from in terms of interactions, as they are the only people left in the world
. I think having an unvoiced protagonist is fine
if there were other people in the cast to fill the void of them being silent
but I just found myself scratching my head. Although, even with my problems from the production side of things, I think the game is written well enough for me to be convinced of their bond and Hikari as a character, it was just a shame that I couldn't hear her speak when she had a very lively personality that I enjoyed following as a reader. This game had a whopping 17 endings, I think to fully experience the game and to get to know its world and characters, the endings with CGs are at least required reading. Although personally, I think this game would have benefitted to be longer, I think there were a lot of things that could have been expanded on and explored, but this is just me not being used to short VNs haha so don't mind this section too much. I sometimes felt that this game played things too safe for my liking even with its bleak setting, although I'm no expert on post apocalyptic settings so maybe this is just how it is? Anyhow, I don't really have any major complaints about the characters themselves, I think both Mika and Hikari were well written characters with a very enjoyable dynamic. I was quite impressed that the devs chose to make Mika
a pathetic, loser bum (I mean this all affectionately)
despite being our only love interest, it felt refreshing to witness how human his character was. I think he's this game's best asset (as he should be...lol). I liked him even if he isn't necessarily my type, while he doesn't necessarily have the ability to make one swoon, he at least is a very earnest character that you'd root for. This game took me around 9 hours to complete, so I think with this length it's best to grab this on a sale if full price is not worth it. All in all, around a 7.5/10 from me.
SO SO SO SO GOOD :') I've been waiting ever since this game was announced, and im happy with the overall experience of playing the game. I absolutely adore the relationship between Mika + Hikari and how it progressed through the story. My heart felt so full and destroyed at the same time while playing the game. It may be hopeful thinking on my end, but I'd love to maybe see a sequel?
