Subtract around one hour from my playtime and that should be decently accurate. I started Leonard's Beach DLC route but I didn't finish it and I did idle some time in the game. Teachers. With Love and Passion. is one of the few otome we get that has love interests above the age of 30. Unfortunately, there is a huge element of instant-love when they meet Hanna Fein (our protagonist) that really detracted from my enjoyment of the game. In fact, my main issue with this game is that I struggled to process the time passing and the progression from interest > like > love in the routes. Often Hanna would mention a lightness or feeling in her chest and immediately start using the word love, and until they had hit the epilogue where there was a timeskip, I never felt like there had been enough time to get to know the guy AND to fall in love with him. Actually, on this topic, I felt like the men never really broke free of their personality trope (if there was one) aside from Edgar and Leonard. I also, in the grand scheme of things, didn't mind Markus' route given how terrible the rest of them were. As for the plot, the game is about newly graduated teacher, Hanna Fein, starting work at a small school in her town. The school only has six teachers: Hanna (biology), Christy (civics), Markus (PE), Edgar (maths), Leonard (art), Lawrence (history) and a school doctor, Ray. The five men are the love interests and there is one secret route in addition to that. It took some time for me to get used to the art style of the game. Everyone has really large eyes and pointed faces, and their bodies take up a lot of room in the CGs. Just the huge curve of their backs and shoulders especially, but the anatomy is decent. I do think the game did a decent job at showing the men as older, Lawrence, especially, as the oldest has a lot of greys, but his hairstyle just looked really strange and messy from the front instead of sexy and stylish. The art is very colourful and there are even chibis, which is fun at times. I also liked that Hanna has short hair, basically as short as she can get without having a bowl cut. It was very unique and modern for an otome! The other guys have decent designs and a unique personal style (Leonard's untucked flanno under a vest sure is a choice). Their CGs are also quite diverse in angle/positioning and timing. I think my favourite character to look at aside from Leonard was Christy. I did think it was funny that in the beach DLC some of the characters are still wearing smart casual outfits and jackets with lapels? What da. Also that Markus' sprite has only got an 'in school' version and when he goes to Hanna's house, he's still carrying his volleyball! The game is pretty uneven when it comes to time dedicated to routes; Lawrence's route only has four dialogue choices. The routes can end in one of three ways: Friendship, Love or Bad ending. I thought it was really interesting that the bad endings had a CG also as that doesn't happen very often and is most common in the AAA otomes! I appreciated that. But Ray, Edgar and Lawrence's routes have two endings only for some reason, and the secret route is basically run off of Edgar's bad ending. Additionally, the secret route isn't really a proper route, it's more like an epilogue for Edgar's route.
The character in the secret route also doesn't get an enemies-to-lovers story, because the entire thing kind of focuses just on getting Hanna away from the MMC in this route. Whilst Yandere characters are nowhere near my favourite, done well, I can appreciate the feelings they have for the MC as well as the jealousy and possessiveness. Unfortunately we didn't really get to see this in depth. I just dind't really appreciate that it came to serve Edgar in the end.
The sound design is alright, I got really sick of the chalkboard scribble sound when hovering over menu options so I just muted the game. Even the background music started to annoy me. I did notice at one time that the sound was still playing despite me muting the game and I had to fix the slider to zero again. As for the meat of the game... I am really conflicted here. I was hoping for more mature issues when it came to the central conflict in each of the character routes. I will hide all my spoilers but my brief comment on the attitude and behaviours of all the men in the game is this: By the time these men would have reached the age they are, they really should have worked out the issues they are experiencing in the game and be able to approach it maturely in a conversation with Hanna. My route ranking:
Leonard > Edgar > Markus/Ray > Lawrence > Secret
Leonard was just the cutest guy and genuinely if I knew him IRL I would probably be interested in him. I really liked his design and he had a really interesting outcome to his central conflict, but I think I just didn't buy his reaction around it, especially given how terrifying his first common route CG was.
I genuinely couldn't tell if it was cultural or not, but it didn't make sense to me that he was so scared of Hanna's reaction to him liking anime given that by that age, I just think people should be comfortable with their hobbies and have accepted who they are
aside from working on their flaws. This wasn't as egregious as the other routes which is why he stays at 1. I am really bummed about there being no CG for his epilogue as I would've really liked a full art of it. Markus was a good first route, and I grew to like him across his route as I felt like there was decent time given to his romance, but the conflict, I thought, was heading somewhere else:
Markus' route, aside from Ray's, just seems to have a focus on health and wellness and I think that if his route had focused on, say, a conflict between him and a parent and him being fired from a previous school
, it would've made a better central conflict than
his personal feelings of fear around Hanna judging him for not becoming an Olympic swimmer?
Genuinely I cannot tell why she would care? Ray's route had a really interesting central conflict, I thought it was quite good even if it was a bit rogue in the scope of the game, and the intensity of his emotions almost got me as we got further into his story. I did like that his route had a little bit of spice and he felt the most mature of all the guys in the game. I didn't really care about his butterfly thing. Lawrence had just... the least interesting dialogue of all the guys. Initially I liked his dominant personality, but he never really graduates past jealousy and anger, and he's generally quite rude in his route even towards Hanna EVEN when he has feelings for her. The only part I really liked in his route, was
where he tells Hanna he's busy on the weekend, but he was going to be busy with her
. Yum yum lol. Edgar's route had a lot of good revelations, but none of them really get explained or expanded on even in the epilogue.
Apparently, Edgar has a child and an ex-wife and a side character accuses him of being a bad father. I think I would've liked seeing the epilogue be about bringing Hanna with him to visit his son and seeing how much his son loves him despite the small amount of time they can spend together, so Hanna could reiterate to Edgar that he IS a good father and is loved?
Just spitballing TBH. The secret route deserved better. In the end, this game was not at all what I had expected and I think I just wanted more depth from it. I don't know what else to say except that it was cheap and was worth a LOT of time so I appreciated that from it, but I don't think I would recommend it. There are some awkward english phrases in the game and parts where Miss or Mr should be capitalised and just aren't. Unfortunately, it is one of the only games where we get love interests over 30, but I just didn't enjoy it.
FINAL RATING: 2.6/10
When I just started playing, I genuinely do enjoy the game, but tbh it's getting a bit hard to concentrate after completing 2 love interests' route. And, I actually stopped playing this for a while, and watching animes or doing other things instead of playing this continuously which it was quite rare for me to do so. The only enjoyable route for me is only Leonard, and a part of the secret route. Tho the secret route is not really what I was hoping for so I was a little bit disappointed, tbh. I did these routes in order: Lenoard > Lawrence > Markus > Edgar > Ray > secret route Upon clearing all endings from Leonard to Edgar, upon starting Ray's route halfway thru, I can't really force myself to enjoy this game any longer, ended up skipping all unread texts, and in the end also not reading the beach DLC. I do really want to give this game a thumbs up considering this is the publisher of my fav dev, Anta. Which is partly why I bought this game on first release, and gave a good review immediately without finishing the whole game.
PLOT
Hannah (age 30) is working as a Biology school teacher and it's her first day of teaching, no experience, whatsoever. But regardless of that, the principal still hired her as their Biology teacher due to lack of staff, and was worried that she would turn down the offer at the last minute.. The job was introduced to her by her friend, Christy, and Christy also talked about her to their other teachers from time to time before Hannah started her job at the school.. And when she started, the principal slightly briefed her rgd the school and assured her that the teachers here are not like the ordinary teachers who are usually strict.
Love interests

Leonard (age 35)
He looks way younger than his actual age. He teaches fine arts, and has a very shy and cute personality. He is also the one who brought Hannah to the teacher lounge when she was lost. Also! Can cook, and also went over to hannah's house to teach her how to cook pasta and along the way, he helped her carried her groceries. Ngl, among all the characters , Leonard is more of my type, shy and not as openly and bravely flirty with her. And again, can cook! Totally husband material [strike] cuz I can't... [/strike] The next day, he asked Hannah to helped him with looking for something, and apparently, he need it to help his students, the thing he was looking for is an art piece done by a previous student and it can be a good inspiration for his current students. Knowing that it is hard, Hannah also being a good person, told Leonard not to give up, and they kept on looking for it. Tho being the cuuuute and innocent looking precious cinnamon bun he is, he has another side, there are times where he looks angry and his eyes went dark. >/////< Not to say that I love characters who are dark, but I love characters who has hidden sides! :3 Tho this is becuz
He is a hard-cored otaku, and he was afraid that Hannah would find out his secret and run away from him :(
[strike] Hannah is soo alpha in this route btw, so cool :3 She is gonna take the lead, iykyk ~ [/strike] Leonard is also very considerate of Hannah, he even asked permission to kiss her, and ask if he told her that he loves her today, but still tell her anyway just in case he didn't.. My Favourite Quote: Have I told you I love you today? But let me say it, just in case
Lawrence (age 48)
Even tho he looks super old, and IS super old, [strike] sorry to those who are abt the same age of him out there, no offense[/strike], he sure does look super elegant. Imagine if he was younger... He teaches world history, and is a very strict, cold, and the most feared teacher by the students. While playing through the common route, he seems to be more openly jealous compared to the other love interests, calling Hannah naive and told her that
"she should be in the teacher's lounge, becuz all of the teachers are wagging their tail, hopefully you take them home with you?"
Honestly, super cute, for someone his age. And when Hannah got injured, he is also the one who brought her to the infirmary, also almost carried her all the way back to where the sports event was held, even tho he is old and may be bad for his back. So, I also think that he is quite stubborn... My Favourite Quote: I'm willing to make the exception for you. If you do the same for me
Edgar (age 36)
The first love interest that Hannah met, he teaches maths and has a fun and bright personality. He also turns maths into fun and learning class, instead of learning the old and boring traditional way. (ngl, we need more teachers like him irl..) Tho tbh, when I first saw him, I tot that he would be the PE teacher due to him being bulky.. He is very playful indeed, but very sweet that he bought 2 traditional ice cream flavours as it is the safest choice.. He doesnt want to ask as he just wants to surprise her. My Favourite Quote: I do not like to have favourites as if I happened to have a bad day, I might come to hate it, and vice versa. Thus, for today, my favourite is chocolate
Markus (age 33)
He is the PE teacher, tho after seeing him, he does looks more like a PE teacher than Edgar. He is ok so far.. Not my type in both character and terms of looks.. My Favourite Quote None [strike] meaning no [/strike]
Ray (age 45)
The teasing type, and he looks as elegant as Lawrence, but still not really my type in the end. My Favourite Quote It's getting late for a lady to be alone on the streets
Others: Spoiler Alert
I loooove Eric, he is sooo my type
he is also a yandere, and one of the CG in Lawrence's route, omg, super sexy, and the tougue along with his saliva, the expression, omggg
Eric number #1 !!!
Rating

Artstyle: 6.2 / 10
Art in expression emotions: 10 / 10 (there are times where my heart beats faster or stops for a moment on the way Leonard switches his face)
Plot: 2.6 / 10
UI: 9/10 reason: the saving plot its hard to read, tho I appreciate of it having a picture at the left, and the time & date at the right, however, the picture only shows the image of the "menu" not the "scene" other than that, the UI is quite clear and cute, the words are also easy to read.. Recommendation: maybe instead of showing the date and time at the right hand side, maybe please allow players to named it ourselves?

CONS
Honestly, though at this price it is consider as a plus and worth it. I do have a few things to say: 1. Too little CG 2. No voice actors :( 3. We cant see how Hannah did on the first day during class, how she teaches, what are the students reactions 4. The love interests mainly fell in love with her at first sight 5. Should just allow us to choose our language and whether to show sound caption once, and not keep on showing whenever we open the game. If we would like to modify, we can do it at settings.
Who will enjoy this game?

Age at 30+ (as the MC in the game is 30, so some besties might be able to self-insert better and really enjoy the game) Of course, those who are under age of 30 might also enjoy the game, like me who is under the age of 20. Just saying this, as I had an Internet bestie who is 30+ dropped otome games as she felt a bit embarrased to date love interests who are under age of 28. It is hard for her to self-insert, so she is pretty down. But, I did shared this game with her. :3
Wants to experience what is school love is like as teachers
Who loves rivalry & drama
Loves to be teased, shocked or amazed
I'm not one to give long lengthy reviews, but if you're the type that likes to pick one love interest and devout yourself to them like I do, this game isn't for you. The routes are short and progression is fast. You jump from infatuation to love incredibly quickly and leave little room for the romance to really marinate. Also there are a few major loose ends left open that left me dissatisfied. But, if you are a completionist who likes to play all routes and get every ending then you will get more bang for you buck. My review is based on only playing Lawrence's route.
Teachers. With Love and Passion is a fully GxB otome visual novel with older than usual leading characters. No, not a young MC facing a cringefest of men old enough to be her grandfather, but one already age 30 with potential love interests ranging between 33 and 48 – or should that be, starting at 25 years old – but more on that later. And yet, despite the more mature age range of leading lights, to these older eyes, the story still feels like it has been written with a younger audience in mind. The writing style is very much “easy reading”, with mostly brief and simple captions. However, the story has a LOT of content and will take some effort to work all of the way through – it was a combination of the above which led me, at times, to feel like not a whole lot was happening after what felt like an inordinate number of trackpad taps led to a drifting of attention. Although the preceding comments need to be made, they should not be seen as a final judgment on the game as a whole. Let's look more in-depth.
Story
Our MC, Hanna Fein, is a mature singleton whose best friend Christy is a teacher at a local school which has an urgent vacancy for a biology tutor – Hanna's area of expertise, although absent of any teaching experience. Christy convinces Hanna to apply for the vacancy, and due to a chronic shortage of available talent, the headmaster Thomas takes a risk on her. Christy also uses the opportunity to push home the fact that the remainder of the staff comprises four male teachers, all of whom are unattached (of course! 😂) and have very different personalities; along with a school nurse/doctor who also, remarkably enough, is also without a partner. Having endured a bad break-up with a previous boyfriend, Hanna has been voluntarily single for several years and is not interested in forming a new relationship, but after being made to feel welcome by the staff, her initial nerves in the new job dissipate as she gradually becomes more confident as a teacher and more comfortable with the people around her. The developers made an excellent decision to leave the actual lessons out of the story, replacing “teaching time” with a brief animated interlude accompanied by a jolly little ditty. This is enough to maintain awareness of the background whilst focusing on developing relationships with the other staff. After a time, the overworked headmaster employs an assistant, Eric, a youthful 25 year old who seems to have an enthusiasm for contact with Hanna which goes beyond the call of his duties, resulting in him popping up in moments between her and her favoured potential beau. Following a series of decisions, a stuttering potential romantic pathway may or may not open up into the beginnings of a relationship, or lead to a sturdy friendship, or even a failure for anything to happen between Hanna and her prospective leading man. Inevitably, after a lengthy period of undramatic, almost prosaic interactions interspersed with moments of humour, teasing and a healthy sprinkling of camaraderie between her colleagues, real drama ensues towards the end of the story as (an expected) antagonist comes to the fore and throws some peril into the mix, bringing some excitement and intrigue into what is predominantly a gentle story of slowly developing romance where none was intended.
User experience
• Hanna's name is changeable from the off. You can alter first name or surname or both. 👍 • Upon opening the game, the player is given the choice of Portuguese or English, and this is followed by an option for an additional caption (which appears high on screen to one side) which gives a text description of sound effects used throughout the story. Both of these are positives being placed right at the beginning, but unfortunately, the process is repeated every single time you restart the game. This would have been so much better if saved and remembered, and then included within the gameplay menu as options to be subsequently changed as desired. As it is, they add to what feels like a longer-than-necessary wait to actually start playing beyond the initial load-up. 👎 • One of the first things I noticed is that the cursor has been redefined as a heart. Little things like this always grab my attention and serve to demonstrate that a developer has tried to go the extra mile to improve user experience. 👍 • Some scenes involve texting conversations on the MC's mobile. This graphic is very pleasing, with a beautiful dahlia in full bloom as Hanna's handset background. 👍 • Player options boxes are unusually small for a Ren'py created visual novel. If you're using a large screen with your games, this isn't likely to bother you at all, but if you're on a laptop or a smaller screen, then you're going to notice. 👎 • Overall the English in the game is plenty good enough to get by without any difficulty, but it isn't quite right. It's like having a conversation with someone who can speak the language but it isn't native to them, so it doesn't feel completely natural. The biggest culprit is the persistent usage (and over-usage) of “it”, most notably where “that” would read correctly. 👎 • Upon finishing all other routes, a “secret” route will start which really ramps up the tension and makes for an exciting conclusion to the main game, leaving the player with a positive feeling upon completion. 👍 • Included in the package is a “three years later, at the beach” DLC which is almost half as long as the main game itself! 👍 • All of the expected VN features are present, showcasing a really clean UI (backstep achieved by, presumably, a scroll wheel – it works perfectly with the two-finger-slide on a trackpad), an easy access settings menu which doesn't involve backing out of the story, and a full gallery organised by route. 👍
Verdict
Hanna is, absolutely, the sort of MC that a typical otome fan would want. Intelligent, mature and prettier than reality for most. Yes please, I can immerse myself into a story as her 😁 but I did find, perhaps due to a shortage of true depth (especially when allowing for the story length involved), that I didn't get to feeling anything for any of the available men, except for Leonard towards the end, and I'm not entirely certain what those feelings were. Sympathy, perhaps, the most likely. I found the story to be engaging but not captivating – around an hour of my playing time would have been used by my eyes becoming tired and closing for 10 minutes (not during late hours, either) due to a lack of compulsion to discover what would happen next. Hanna's hopelessness at identifying her romantic feelings felt appropriate for a teenager, but broadly out of place for a mature woman who would be far more able to recognise them. However, despite some edges lacking to make this a riveting read, the game remains a fun experience and sufficiently rewarding to play. I believe that those at the younger end of the age range will get more from the game than those who would view Lawrence as a toyboy 😂. For the full asking price, there is a huge amount of material which ranges from decent to very good. Therefore, while not at the top of the list of novels that I have enjoyed, Teachers falls into a higher quality bracket and is deserving of a recommendation. YAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY! The game is finally here!!! ON STEAM!!!!!!!!! I am a bit late to the Welcoming party, but...! STILL CONGRATULATIONS!!! I read this game when it was still in its "baby stages". Back then I thought it was alright, offering its own kinda charm. However, instead of moving on, this project was actually continued to be improved upon and this more of a final product we have today! Was it worth it? Well... HELL YEAH! It was overly improved on. The sprites are better looking. Buffer too. Eheheheh. The story is more flushed out and the character stories were extended! Extra details added! There are way more CGs and Epilogues... AND A SUMMER DLC!!! Wowie! Choices didn't really change much and we now have an addition of Ray in the standard game and Thomas in the DLC. There is also "Polylovin'" routes... But meh. One guy at a time!!! Ah and a "Secret Route"....... If you really need a yandere in your life... >:i Anywho! BOIS! Edgar's story is still sad. Kent's I felt was more defined with better details. Ray looks like a snake to me, but he is just a shameless flirt... He is alright and his story is bitter. LEO IS THE CUTEST!!! Reading his route was like reading about my own life... YEARS AGO. I thought he was actually 24... >.> LOL. And I would say I am surprised, but not really... Lars was the best read for me. I severely dislike possessive/controlling men, but... Somehow this game made it okay for me. Not that I would be his partner in crime. PHEW! Anyway, he had the best tsundere vibes AND older man AND domineering. I guess his coolness was something to admire. *nods* But at the end of the day... The MC was necessary for each and every LI to help 'em break out of that darkness and move on. Woop woop! That said... This was very well received and enjoyed. Thank you for doing a good job!!! <3
A very beautiful game. From the artwork to the story itself , everything is perfect. ( +brownie points for the old men)
Oh to be sandwiched between Ray and Lawrence...( ̄﹃ ̄) Okay thirsting aside, I adore this game so much. I remember when I played the previous version on itch a long time ago, and I'll never forget how much it made me giggle and kick my feet. So when I suddenly saw it on steam, I didn't hesitate to purchase it. And I am happy to admit, after playing for a couple of hours, that the game still manages to pull at my heartstrings, just like all those years ago. I really hope anyone who comes across this game gives it a chance, I promise you won't regret it. I sure didn't ദ്ദി ˉ͈̀꒳ˉ͈́ )✧
I am still playing the game but I need to write a Review! I love visual novel and played a lot, mostly Otome and some BL. I tried this Otome many years ago at Itch, and tbh my friend and I weren't a huge fan of this game, the opposite sadly. I saw it got overworked, tried the demo and decided to support the developer. OMG! Best decision! So much affort went into this game - from the artstyle which improved significant (art is more minor important to me, but important to point out), the music, the sfx! in general the quality of the complete game! I am still playing it, but I am so much in love! - overworked, pretty, cute artwork, that benefits the game - great sfx (for me pretty important), good music - absolute S-tier writing, developing a story that doesn't look deep at first, but is so much more! - MC is absolute S-tier!! omg she is written so well! I think a lot of ppl will enjoy her - Li are such a sweet bunch of men, so different, even Edgar is zero my boy, but I enjoy their encounter I am not a big fan of modern Otome or much comedy but beccause its so well written, it has this mature atmosphere even smt they are all idiots *laughs*, but the mix with some deeper lore and the rly rly great writing makes this game such a comfort game for me. I would change my review if I change my mind, but rn, its a 9/10 for me.
Provato in anteprima, finalmente posso gustarmelo ufficialmente. Si tratta di una visual novel otome davvero realizzata benissimo. I personaggi coinvolgono, la trama è ricca di bivi ed anche piacevolissima la colonna sonora. Assolutamente da comprare!
