Nancy Drew®: The Creature of Kapu Cave

The gameplay is great. I feel like there should have been more, somehow? Like perhaps more bug related or science related interactions. Then the leisure time with Frank and Joe would have felt more well timed. Its fairly easy to get the cart before the horse in this game, and I wonder if I missed a few interactions because I made a phone call at the wrong time. But it all worked out. The ambiance was great, the puzzles were fun, there wasn't an explanation for why the statues did what they did, but hey, it's a nancy drew sleuth game. We can't discover every secret... right?

( contains spoilers ) the puzzles were pretty intricate and fun . i did have to use the walkthrough for junior level many different times but i was able to do some of it by myself . sometimes it was very confusing as to where to go next, ( one of the reasons i used the walkthrough ) but that was probably just because i didnt like reading the clipboard quigley gives you . it took me about 13 hours , but 2 things i didnt enjoy very much , was the shell collecting and gathering , and how after joe gets clubbed , that is the last time you get to play as him for the rest of the game . 4.7 stars , good backstory , and lore , as a nancy drew fanatic . i recommend this game !

The Big Island Bucks economy is flawed and Big Island Mike knows it! Some puzzles were too annoying as busy work and there wasn’t as many things that could be easy to miss which made the game way more straightforward than I would want from a Nancy game. I did appreciate that every character was more insane than the usual(but Quigley is super annoying).

Hear me out, I LIKE frass sorting! There, I said it! And I enjoy fishing and shell collecting too. I just wish the spawn rate for different shells was different, so you could actually make different ones. The mystery is lacking a bit. I wish they left more clues around for the whole thing. It all seems very coincidental. But it is a fun, short, summertime game.

Played on Senior Detective. Only needed saves on 3 of the final puzzles! Very fun!

3/5 stars. I was having a good time and wondering why it got mixed reviews when it just...abruptly ended. I saved my game as "better not be the end" and then it was. I thought the base storyline was promising but then it didn't go on long enough to flesh it out, and they just wrote a huge summary at the end. I liked the dual player intersecting storylines. But there were more tedious tasks than puzzles. I didn't get a chance to read all the factual info or find shells to make more than 2 of the necklaces. I also don't care for trial and error death traps - I want to die because I made a dumb, avoidable mistake. The game just didn't get to the point where you don't know what to do and have to wander around and really think creatively - to me that's the fun part. Overall I still recommend it because it was fun while it lasted, but IMO it's one of the weaker games - maybe better for young players. Wait until it's on sale.

this nancy is a vacation in a video game, quite a simple one in my opinion with some gnarly tasks. finished in about 5 hours but could be done sooner if you're smart/a nancy enjoyer. do NOT get stuck as frank collecting shells, hold some cash and don't waste it giving mike his snow cones. buy bait!!!!
