I think for a dollar, this is a very good game. For 5 dollars, also not a bad buy. At 10, I'd be a little hesitant because I feel like there's a lot here but it's also empty at the same time. They went pretty far in terms of world building and getting the saturday morning vibe. It's pretty cool but I'm already at episode 6 out of 9 and I feel like I've already seen everything the game has to offer. There's a lot of upgrades that will probably make the game too cakewalk and at that point, why bother? I think this game lives and dies by the multiplayer element. The best times I've had so far was with someone (always a stranger) by my side and I gotta say I had fun even though the levels look exactly the same each time I play them. I know I'll soon tire of them but I hope Beamdog took what worked here and tries for a sequel some time in the future... (I will say that going Epic exclusive for a year and pc crossplay only really killed any hope this game had.) Edit (3/18/26) I feel like this is half a game. There's really only 9 levels and after you've beaten them you can beat them all over again in a higher difficulty and I guess that's really it. I stuck with the rogue character the entire way and have zero desire to try the others. Yeah, this game had a lot of potential and I love what they tried here. It just feels really disappointing and it's just big shame. That said, I still recommend it but not for more than 5 dollars and please don't think this game is going to keep your attention for more than a weekend.
Bland. It has a nice aesthetic but falls short in every other aspect. The first two to three levels are fun, and you get a sense of the progression mechanics, enemies, and so on. However, after three levels, you start to notice that all the cutscenes feel incredibly effortless, the entire game consists of recycled dungeons, enemies appear in the same waves over and over, and the dialogue is extremely corny. Once you finish a playthrough, the game has nothing else to offer but the same levels with increased difficulty, and at that point you’re essentially a He-Man figure slicing through everything. I wouldn’t recommend it unless it’s on sale and you’re looking for a short game to play with friends
A tepid dungeon crawler with oodles of style but not enough meat on the bone to overcome its inspiration nor its limitations. Mythforce is a painfully easy affair that just as quickly will flip into a miserable slog if you're willing to suffer it to completion. I died 3 times in the 10-hour campaign then died 7 times in 20 minutes for an achievement. I'll preface my review by saying, I'm not a fan of fantasy settings. I'm generally not inclined to get immersed in worlds that deal with and revolve around myth and magic. I don't find them all that interesting and I find that all the stories to echo each other in ways that feel monotonous. But Mythforce's hook of being based on Saturday morning cartoons more than being slavishly loyal to D&D or genre-tropes had me interested. It was a disappointment on this front. All the tropes are here. Skeletons, bipedal races that shouldn't be, cultists. All the fighting archetypes accounted for. Archers, warriors, rogues, clerics, mages, and via the bosses, summoners, vampires, and bezerkers. All of this is fine and to be expected. The game is beautiful. Truly, the rotoscoping artstyle for characters and interactables standout as elements where the vision was truly realized. It's a shame that the game underneath this veneer isn't worth much salt, let alone gold shillings. The game claims to be a roguelite RPG and, mechanically, it is. Procedurally generated rooms, procedurally generated objectives, and randomized upgrades and items in shops and drops. Skill trees with unique builds to aim for and a glut of permanent character upgrades to cut your teeth on. Sadly, to play through the game on its base difficulties of Easy, Normal, and even Hard, you'll find yourself breezing through the game without engaging much with any of it. Of course, you can opt-in to turn your brain on and the "Mythic" difficulties will absolutely require it. But with those difficulties locked behind beating the game at least once, then you won't find yourself substantially challenged until you roll the credits. By then, you'll know how little the plot matters, how non-existent our character arcs are, and how badly Beamdog craves a sequel where they can do all this bigger, better, and hopefully with more depth. I'd like to be the person to pull Mythforce over the line from a Mixed rating to Mostly Positive but Mixed is, frankly, what it deserves. It might serve as a fun introduction to the hack-and-slash genre for new players, young and wet behind the ears, but older gamers like me, this game positions itself as a unique coat of paint on something well-trodden and not particularly well done over its peers. Mythforce has love for its source material and clearly would like to be something greater than its parts. The theme song has a hook. Those hooks just failed to grab me in the weekend I gave to it.
Bought it on sale, played trough with wife - was pretty fun. For full price its a bit too expensive, but for 5$ it was pretty great. Loved the art style! Perks and progression is fun too.
MYTHFORCE!
I thought that this was pretty good fun. Better in Multiplayer than single player. I really liked the graphics style, and had initially purchased for that reason... though I think it can deceive you into thinking that Myth Force will be easier to play than it actually is. I was lulled, I got my a**e handed to me. The different characters play differently, it's worth taking a little time to work out which style suits you best.
INSTALLING EPIC GAMES LAUNCHER!
Can't believe I haven't reviewed this yet. This is a fun game to pick up with your friends and play for a few days. In a perfect world the developers would've had the time and money to improve on what's already there, but unfortunately, I think there will not be any new updates. Just play it for a couple of hours and get through the story. Definitely don't think this game should been rated as "Mixed". It's not a very long game, but what's there is good.
Really fun with friends and cant beat sale price! Wish It was always $10 or less tho so increase playerbase.
