Довольно казуальный hidden object с незамысловатым сюжетом и простенькими головоломками. Особо выделить тут нечего, разве что качественную прорисовку мелких деталей. Играется легко, проходится относительно быстро. Под пиво пойдет.
It is a surprisingly good hidden object game. Except 2 puzzles acting a bit weird I haven't encountered any other issues and unlike most HOGs it actually took me a decent amount of time to beat (about 3 and half hours, Steam didn't count my playtime correctly). What I really liked is that for some actions the game gave you the choice of of being "good" or "bad" as being able to choose is not something you usually see in this kinds of games. Works fine with Proton 7.0-4. I couldn't get it working with previous (6.X-X) versions however.
The graphics are alright, the puzzles tend to be on the easier side as far as HoG/puzzle games go. The find and click puzzles, however, can be a bit difficult and contain a lot more interactive searches where you have to do extra things with objects in the picture to then find the one on the list. My biggest complaint with this game though, is how terrible the inventory is. There's no button to just bring the inventory up and scrolling over it results in it flipping out half the time and immediately closing because the hang-time on the panel only works about half the time, this also causes you to continually click back to a different map when you're trying to bring up the inventory. This seems like a small inconvenience, but quickly becomes unignorable when it's happening almost every time you need to look in your bag.
(Credit to M for throwing this game at me.) A game that was definitely worth a throw. I played it because the title was silly. Okay... I played it because it was a H.O.G. and............... I actually really liked it. The feel of this one is different from the ones I normally play. It's between newer and older games. You don't just stick to one or two areas and advance... You utilize them ALL. Not at once though. There is no backtracking needed as the map will teleport you. And well also... I thought the cinematics were nice. Normally in H.O.Gs when you detonate something... You just stand there and let yourself become a bleeding mess/get blown back. In this one? You run... And THEN see the outcome! This also has "Good" versus "Bad" choices. That's self explanatory. The reason you need them is............. For Achievements. IN GAME ACHIEVEMENTS. As you can see: No Steam ones. Maybe you also get a different ending... But you know me... I can't just set the poor ant on fire... I gotta feed it cake. The only problem is wishing there was more background story to... Well everyone. Characters are just there to do what they are supposed to and you are to just to go along with it. Nothing new in a H.O.G., however since it's interesting... And the game is not easy. Thankfully. Yes. Good work/Thanks you!! :> :) =)
Finished in 4 hours. Decent hidden object game with a few minor puzzles to solve. Good to help you waste some time and chill. There is A LOT of going back and forth between screens once you get items to get through an area so you'll be doing a whole lot of clicking to get around. Though, overall, not too bad. If you're bored you can kill some time with this.
This is a run-of-the-mill hidden object game. The story is generic. The music and sound design are decent. No steam achievements. There are in-game trophies. So many are missable. To get those, you may play it again (I didn't). Overall, puzzles are good. But hidden object scenes felt underwhelming. Superb fast-traveling system and the map also shows area of interest effectively. This is a collector's edition. So, you will get some bonus items like screenshots and music tracks (which can be saved locally if you want to). There is one small bonus chapter (that can be accessed through the main menu) that acts as a prequel to the main story. The game is a nice time killer. It can be completed in 4 to 5 hours. You may spend some extra time if you want an alternate ending and 100% in-game trophies. Just don't expect much. My verdict: 6/10
Very good hidden object game with a male detective as a protagonist - quite unusual! The story isn't anyhow groundbreaking, but still enjoyable. A young girl went missing and her trail leads to an abandoned castle where overgrown rats serving an evil wizard have their nest. The wizard wants to absorb her life energy to become immortal and the only way to stop his evil plans is to free the magical Unicorn from his stony prison! As we search for the missing girl on the castle grounds we get to learn more about its history - especially about the gruesome end that met the previous owners. Their ghosts are still bound to this place unable to leave so they ask for our help and in return they will provide us with the necessary means to save the poor Sophie! The visuals are very pretty with a lot of additional effects, like when there is a fire in the castle you can see it even from far away, which is a nice touch! Also, hidden object scenes often have living items, flickering lights or moving shadows, making them more lively. The scenes get repeated two or three times, but never in close succession so it doesn't become boring. The puzzles are nicely varied and of good quality! Few of them are truly challenging, but still solvable (on the highest difficulty they can't be skipped). At your disposal is a journal, where everything important gets noted down and you can even replay cutscenes through it! You can also freely use a map where you can see active tasks even on the highest difficulty. As the area is quite big and there is a lot of backtracking it's advisable to often consult the map - it will save you from wandering around and searching for what to do. Through the game, you will have to make karmic choices that will influence your character and the ultimate ending of the story! After completing the game you can play a bonus story that serves as some sort of a prequel. https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3123148072 There are in-game achievements and to get them all at least two playthroughs are required. The game isn't long and has a good pace, you can also choose from four difficulty levels. We have enjoyed it very much and can easily recommend it to all HOG lovers!
Remember, against evil only the unicorn can win, bring him back
Mystery of Unicorn Castle: The Beastmaster is a mobile app-like hidden object/puzzle/adventure game where you tap on your iPhone screen to locate various hidden objects in various piles of junk. There's a typical fantasy/medieval/haunted dungeon theme, ho hum. This is just more mobile shovelware being dumped on Steam to pollute the place while they make another cash grab for trash. From a technical perspective, the game doesn't meet basic minimum requirements that most PC gamers expect as standard. There's no options to change the resolution for the game or customise the graphics settings. There's no way for gamers to ensure this is running at the native resolution of their displays... there's no guarantee this game will look right on any PC as a result of this hamfisted design decision. There's no way for gamers to try improve the low quality graphics. The controls can't be customised because the game has such a dumbed down, simplified interface that it's just iPhone screen tapping stuff. The fact that the interface is this dumbed down might be seen as a problem in itself, however... this is a fairly shallow experience if you're the kind of gamer that likes to play games with deep, rich control schemes and interaction. You'll get none of that here. This looks and feels like a mobile app, but it doesn't seem to have made it to the app stores. It's unclear why this was put on Steam instead of the app stores it seems to have been designed for. Maybe it was removed, maybe it was rejected by Apple and Google (they do have more rigorous quality standards than Valve does for Steam, after all). Regardless, for all intents and purposes "Mystery of Unicorn Castle: The Beastmaster" might as well be a mobile app, it has the same limitations and dumbed down qualities. It's impossible to recommend such a game to PC gamers. We don't spend all this money building gaming rigs so we can pretend they're iPhones and play games that might as well be mobile apps. These technical defects push this game below acceptable standards for any modern PC game. The poor quality of this game is reflected by how many people spent time with it. At the time of this review, SteamDB shows the all-time peak player number was only 14 players. This is a remarkably low number, and now, the only player activity occurs once or twice a month, presumably someone loading it up to see what it is then quickly uninstalling it. Considering there's over 120 million gamers on Steam and well over 50,000 games for gamers to choose from (over 9,000 completely free titles), the overwhelming lack of interest in this low quality game is to be expected. Mystery of Unicorn Castle: The Beastmaster has the insulting price of around $7 USD, it's not worth it given the defects and shortcomings with the product.
