Unfortunately, this game is incredibly glitchy. The storyline is fun, the locations are wonderful, but I cannot recommend this. I had to stop and start the game multiple times after it would freeze, the screen would go bright red sometimes, it crashed a few times, and eventually I was softlocked and unable to complete the game. It's a real shame.

Game is meh at best. Why they decided to change how finding objects works, I'll never know. Progressing through this is a slog and I have 50 clues that don't help in any form or fashion. Got stuck looking for a way to progress after I messed up the lighthouse, and it feels like there's no clear way forward with anything I have in my inventory. There's no 'ah hah' to it, and it just feels like I'm wandering around aimlessly trying to figure out what the hell I need this water filled bucket, shovel, rag that I already used once, and a magnifying glass. I don't want to look up a guide because that would spoil what is supposed to be fun, but I literally don't have a reason to use anything I currently have, and there's no clear direction of where I should go. Return to Ravenhearst was great, and I enjoyed it thoroughly, but this just sucks. Upon further research most of my issues running around trying to use items and them not doing anything is attributed to the fact the game is riddled with glitches, so either way it's still a crappy successor.

Unlike previous games that were quite light-hearted this one is quite uncomfortable at times taking on issues of domestic abuse, childhood trauma, human experimentation, all seen through the eyes of a twisted individual who wants you to suffer as they did, simply because you put an end to their activities in a previous episode of MCF. Standard HOPA mechanics are replaced by morphing objects, so it's quite tedious simply sitting and waiting for something to change. The puzzles are quite taxing and you will need to have pen and paper handy all the time as hardy any clues are recorded in the in game journal. The puzzles are quite a challenge and you will need to keep 5-6 puzzle threads in mind at the same time while playing, so the general casual vibe from previous MCF titles is gone. I would also warn that you can play the previous games with kids but the Ravenhurst games would probably be a too much for young children, especially this chapter. It's an interesting game but I think too much has changed, too much emphasis on the macabre killed the fun, in the end I felt I was just slogging through it so I could say I finished it, simply wasn't as much fun as previous titles. I'd still recommend it but be very aware it's very much an adult themed game with some mature topics.

As a very disappointed fan of the series it's hard for me to say it but don't buy this game - it crashes A LOT! Although a great story, really creepy and filled with great puzzles - it's simply broken and barely playable.

Mystery Case Files: Escape from Ravenhearst, is of course a really great game and I had no problems playing it in Windows 11. There are some disturbing parts, even disturbing to adults, but remember, it's a game, not reality. This game was a real project to produce and the quality shows, a very thorough gaming experience that doesn't leave you disappointed or unsatisfied.

I have always loved the mystery case files games would recommend to anyone who likes point and click games the story lines are very interesting!

PROTIP: DO NOT PROCEED TOO QUICKLY FROM ONE LOCATION TO THE NEXT, ELSE THE GAME WILL HANG This game runs worse than the other games in the series for whatever reason I would also recommend using the Bigfish walktrough if the games gets too cryptic Other than that, this is probably the best game in the series
