While I'm not a die hard myst fan like my friends. I have played MYST 1, 3 and 4. We will eventually get to Riven down the road, but my friends wanted me to play these three first before we started Riven for a lot of reasons most avid Myst fans know, so I won't get into that. Myst 4 and 5 were the two Mysts my avid fan friends did not yet play so we went into it. While many reviews here were not liking little to no FMV's, this doesn't hurt the game. In fact, what hurts the game is the puzzles. Unlike the other Myst games, they REALLY and I mean REALLY expect you to pay attention. Even if you pay 101% close attention, some of these puzzles, especially when you look at a video walkthrough, will still have your head scratching. My friend Whitefire knows puzzles super well, and twice throughout our playthrough, he had to look up a guide. For Myst 1, 3, and 4. No guides were needed, except one time for Myst 4. The other noticeable thing is the tablets. The drawing aspect is a neat idea, but poor execution. It is VERY pixel picky about these drawings and for 1 or two puzzles that require you to be patient with them, makes you feel like you didn't solve it but yet you did. One puzzle (the snake one), sometimes didn't activate to up to two minutes. So, it made us wonder if we did the puzzle right. Other times, drawings didn't even look CLOSE to the tablet, but yet the game accepted it. And there are other times, when you drew the tablet perfectly, it didn't take. The whole story with the creatures was interesting, but we all felt they were really reaching and almost "rekt con" the series with this finale. If you're a super fan of the series give the finale a shot, most puzzles make sense, and others will just make you go "huh"?. Again, remember, you REALLY need to pay attention! In comparsion to other Myst series, this one is the weakest, so it's hard to recommend it.
The misunderstood final instalment of a beautiful series. The ages in this game are beautiful, and as atmospheric as ever. Graphics are a tiny bit dated but by no means did it ruin immersion at any point and the atmosphere more than makes up for it. People tend to say the puzzles are confusing/hard in this game compared to the previous titles, I would disagree, it felt like classic Myst puzzles all the way through, if you're paying attention and taking notes of clues, you will be fine. The story was better than I expected it to be from the reviews, it follows on quite nicely from Uru (which you need to have played to really understand the story). Although it does differ quite from the early games, it's not an unwelcome change in my opinion and it does fit the overall arc. Esher's character is played really well, the motion capture makes it still quite immersive for a game released in 2005, despite the ps2 era models. If you are a fan of Myst, you will deeply enjoy this game, and it is well worth playing.
The Myst series is probably the best computer game series ever.
Reseña de Myst V: End of Ages

Overall I recommend this one, but "mixed" is the correct word. Myst V is the weakest of the main Myst Series, but I think its overall worth playing. I was worried about the switch to 3D and the tablet game mechanic at first, but honestly those weren't that bad. Its got some minor awkward controls, and the tablets aren't perfect (a few bugs, make sure to save!), but this isn't to say there's nothing going for it. I really liked the environments in this one, being able to explore them in 3D was a lot of fun. They're visually a treat just to take in and walk around. The puzzles aren't as clever as some of the series prior. Just when I think they're getting close, it turns out they don't have as much depth as I'd want, but the upside to that is that the game doesn't overstay its welcome, and the worst puzzles don't sting as bad. The story is good, but nothing too crazy, the motion capture and presentation can be a bit awkward at times, but the true ending and alternate endings are actually a really nice thematic sendoff for the series, in terms of setting and plot. Now technology-wise, there are unfortunately a handful of bugs, some minor like the save previews being messed up if you have a second monitor (at first i got a black screen, but then it was just using a screenshot of whatever was on the other monitor?), then there are a few other bugs that were more annoying to deal with - at one point my tablet got bugged to where the creatures wouldn't pick it back up, and another where I had to restart a save because the game incorrectly registered the symbol I drew as the final symbol of that area. Nothing game-ruining, but I think I was only able to look past them because they happened infrequently. Its still ends up being rougher around the edges in ways where the rest of the series wasnt TLDR: Not as good as the rest of the series, but still worth checking out just to explore the environments and scenery. If you've already gone ahead and played the rest of the series, I don't see any good reason to *avoid* playing it. Its not too expensive, maybe pick it up on sale though.
The original MYST was ground-breaking for its time, and Riven was great; everything else from Cyan since that time has been either meh or terrible, with timed events and/or events requiring timed mouse precision. Nope.
This is a great solo no pressure game which allows for exploration, memory, solutions, and rewards.
Can't save. The camera clicks, the journal flashes -- but there's nothing there other than an empty line. Bog-standard Windows 10 system; issue reported a few times before on Steam and the general internet, but no (working) solution to be found, and frankly, after Myst IV and especially Uru I just can't be arsed anymore.
I loved this game in the end I felt sorry for the Bahro. I enjoyed all the ages. The only Myst I did not complete was the 4th one , I gave up on that stupid monkey puzzle but this game was fine and enjoyable.
