my favourite game :)
This game did not work well for me. Myha: Return to the lost island is a puzzle adventure game, in the Myst lineage. There is a narrative present, found in notes, pictures, and a couple audio logs. I did not find the narrative to be interesting, but that's not a big deal for me if the puzzles and exploration work well. The exploration was mixed. I did like exploring the island. The scenery and settings were beautiful, and the terrain was fairly varied for a geographically limited space. The environmental puzzles worked well, and fit their surroundings well. My first big problem was the night of the day/night cycle. I found it really hard to see anything during the night. You are given a flashlight, but it's extremely inadequate for the task. It felt like I needed to just let the game run through to daytime if I needed to explore outside, and night rolled over. I don't feel that having nighttime added anything for me, so removing it would go a ways towards helping me see things. Even cranking up the brightness was not a very good option, as it washed everything out during the day. This leads to my other big problem. I had a hard time noticing lots of things. For example, the Fish on the rock. I knew it was on the beach, but it took me looking it up in a guide to find it. I looked over the spot many times without seeing it. For some reason, visibility was a massive problem for me. I got stuck frequently, and it was always because I didn't see something. I am not sure exactly why I had such problems with visuals in this game. That aspect of the game was like pulling teeth. I have played many other games in this style, and I have never had this level of problem. Other notes, turn on hearing assistance. The Voice recordings are extremely hard to understand. Also, the PDA takes an irritatingly long time to load. As such, the game did not work at all for me.
I decided to give it a thumbs up, even though the game is not flawless. However the developers are on the right path... The Rhem model train easter egg brought some nostalgia... :)
I tried to get into this game, I really did, but I didn't even end up finishing it. I thought about stopping and getting my money back right before the 2/3 hour window that Steam gives you, I kept going back and fourth, but I thought "No, I'll keep going, I'm sure it will get better". Well, it sure didn't. I looked up hints 90% of the game, the puzzles are SO FRUSTRATING. They just didn't make any sense, no rhyme or reason. Finally it got to the last leg of the game, and I still couldn't figure out a dang puzzle and I just stopped all together. The plot didn't make any sense either, I didn't understand, there really wasn't a story line to follow.
Absolutely dreadful in my opinion and I love games like this. The navigation is just pathetic, irritating and difficult and it all just LOOKS very poor. Really surprised. I've totally deleted it from my computer and requested a refund. Irrespective of the result of that request I never want to see this game again.
Das ist von Myst so weit weg wie die Erde von der Sonne. Es ist nicht möglich einen logischen Zusammenhang, was die Hinweise angeht, zu finden.
This game kinda sucks and I'm saying this as a huge fan of those kind of games. It reminds me of Uru Live, in a very bad way.
