-warning up front you better have a controller or you will get stuck in the menu- very arcade like, steering will take some getting used to, but its satisfying when you start to get the hang of it reminiscent of the original (1997) enough to be quite fun if you wanted to play the original but it doesn't run on your system (I had to refund it), I think this will scratch the itch nicely. The wheelie turbo is still cool. The negatives would just be janky dirt bike jumping . quite often you go to hit a small jump and it registers like you hit a short wall or something. but the game is still fun, Im sure you will get several hours out of it.
I want to like this, I loved the original MotoRacer series, especially MR2. I think that was the best in the entire stack. However, playing this MR4 has been a huge disappointment for me. Mainly because of the fact the handling is absolute dog-biscuits. You can SEE the rider squirming around on the bike, and you can also FEEL the rider squirming around on his bike. I even lauged at some points, "what even is this!?" Shame because the graphics aren't bad, but meh I wasn't surprised the gameplay was bad when I saw the UE4 logo.... "oh, here we go..."

Moto Racer 4 attempts to revive the spirit of the classic Moto Racer series with a modern coat of paint, blending asphalt and dirt racing into a single arcade-style package. Developed by Artefacts Studio and published by Microids, the game presents itself as a fast, colorful, and accessible racer in the tradition of the series’ 1990s roots. At first glance, Moto Racer 4 looks like it understands what makes an arcade motorcycle game fun: exaggerated speed, vibrant scenery, and simple mechanics designed to emphasize reflexes over realism. Yet beneath those first impressions lies a rough and uneven experience that struggles to deliver consistent excitement. The game offers a variety of environments, from desert highways and snowy mountain passes to jungle trails and canyon dirt tracks. Visually, Moto Racer 4 has moments of charm—its dirt courses in particular stand out thanks to interesting terrain and more dynamic layouts. The colors are bold, the lighting is serviceable, and the backdrops do enough to convey a sense of velocity. The Unreal Engine 4 foundation allows for smooth enough vistas when everything is working as intended, and the presentation clearly aims to capture the high-energy arcade style of the franchise. The availability of several modes, including time trials, elimination races, and stunts, adds some variety to the structure and suggests an effort to provide a full-featured racing package. Unfortunately, the core handling model undermines much of that potential. Moto Racer 4’s bikes often feel twitchy and weightless, making tight turns uncomfortable and precise driving unpredictable. Instead of offering the smooth, responsive controls expected from an arcade racer, the physics tend to feel inconsistent—bikes bounce strangely, landings can behave erratically, and collisions frequently lead to unexpected wipeouts. Dirt tracks, which should be the highlights of the game, suffer the most from these issues, with jumps and bumps that rarely feel natural. Even with practice, the handling never fully settles into something intuitive, leaving the player wrestling the controls more often than mastering them. The progression system introduces further frustration. Each event requires the player to choose a challenge level that awards stars upon success, but failing to meet the goal can actually remove stars previously earned. This creates a sense of negative progression that forces replaying earlier races simply to regain lost stars. Combined with AI opponents that often feel rubber-banded or unrealistically aggressive, the campaign becomes more of a grind than an enjoyable climb through increasingly exciting events. Instead of encouraging experimentation with different bikes or difficulty levels, the game punishes risk-taking, which stands in sharp contrast to its arcade racing identity. Technical issues also hold Moto Racer 4 back. Pop-in, uneven frame pacing, and lifeless scenery appear frequently enough to break immersion. While the game includes local and online multiplayer modes, the online player base has historically been sparse, limiting the potential for competitive play. Even features such as the optional VR mode—available in some versions—come across as underdeveloped, offering little more than novelty due to reduced visual clarity and limited content tailored to VR’s strengths. Despite its shortcomings, there are moments where Moto Racer 4 manages to deliver brief flashes of fun. High-speed weaving through traffic on asphalt courses can offer genuine thrills, and the dirt tracks occasionally present interesting jumps and turns that feel satisfying when executed correctly. The soundtrack and general pace of races aim for lighthearted energy, which can resonate with players who simply want a quick, uncomplicated motorcycle racer and are willing to overlook its flaws. In the end, Moto Racer 4 is a game with clear ambition but uneven execution. It tries to honor the legacy of the Moto Racer franchise with a modern reboot, yet its control issues, unbalanced progression, and technical rough spots prevent it from reaching the heights of its predecessors. For fans of the series or players desperate for an arcade-style motorcycle experience, it may offer some entertainment. For most others, however, it serves as a reminder that resurrecting a well-loved racing series requires more than just fast bikes and bright tracks—precision, polish, and strong mechanics must also return to the starting line.
