Mosaic of The Pharaohs

Some mad devil somewhere decided to breed Minesweeper and Picross together to turn into one big dang puzzle, and I very much enjoyed it. Actually learned a few bits of history too, so that's always a good outcome. The hours aren't anywhere close to the actual played time; I had it up as a coffee break game during my workday to nibble a few blocks when I had a spare minute between meetings. Works well for that purpose. I'll have to check out more like this to have on hand.

Pretty adictive game for a low price. This one doesn't have a difficulty and can be done without using hint !

the puzzles don't really have anything to do with the artwork, and it used to have AI generated text. Fun in the same way that doomscrolling is "fun".

I'm on the fence about this game. I generally play this while mellowing out after a long day. It's borderline mindless with a tiny bit of puzzling; it's like minesweeper if every time you finished a puzzle you got a cute pixelated image and a bit of information about it to look at. Unlike minesweeper, however, there are no stakes to making a mistake. This is both a pro and a con as it makes the game less stressful, but then inevitably at the end of my gaming session I usually feel like I wasted my time since there is no risk at all. No story, either, which to me is a wasted opportunity. This game I think would combine well with a visual novel or narrative of some kind, like interweaving a story between completing regions or getting narrative feedback on your progress. At the end of the day, it's a thumbs up from me because I do like this when I want something mindless and repetitive, and I have sunk many hours into it already. But I think the formula could be changed to incorporate story or even a "risk" mode where filling in the wrong space has some kind of negative impact outside of just being wrong (a la minesweeper).
