I won't be too critical since there is nothing inherently wrong with the game. To be fair to the developers, I will keep the thumbs up... it is just not my cup of tea. Its a point-and-click/visual novel/rpg/turn-based Match-3. The turn-based Match-3 killed me. Every time I had the perfect move lined up it was not my turn, lol. Then when it was my turn there seemed to be nothing left on the board for me to combat my opponent with. I love me an adult point-and-click, but what really made this game "not for me" was the art style. I will take the animation of Paradise Lust anyday over the CGI of Morningstar. These are my personal preferences of course, and why this game fell short for me... but it is a good game, overall, that many people will enjoy.
A really good AVN. I would say that Love of Magic is still my favorite of the two, but this one has good moments. Give it a shot, especially if its on sale.
I really enjoyed Love of Magic and was a bit wary of this one - you always worry about sequels, and the setting and MMA theme interested me a lot less at first than the Scottish setting and Arthurian themes of the original. But I have to say that I really enjoyed Morningstar. I even played it through twice so I could do both the Path of Light and the Path of Fire. It retains much of the flavour of the original, and is similarly literate (congratulations on the Beowulf references, by the way). Not much to criticise - like many sandbox-style games it suffers from the occasional event happening out of order, or the game telling you that you have to go to a location that you are already in, that sort of thing. And I set the minigame difficulty to the lowest, because that wasn't what I was there for. A straight VN would have been just as satisfying for me, but others may differ. Will be following this dev with great interest. Well done.
Candy crush clone. Target group probably 6 year old girls. Between the games some renderings, most of them bla bla about the next fight. Loved Love Of Magic, ... - those have beengreat games, if you expect something like that - don't buy this one. Or the next ones. I expect the next day to become a "dress my doll" game with 1 AI rendering every 100 hours of "playtime". No idea why they decide to move away from a really good game to ... this. AND: you will only play this game 1 time. So choose your path. A second time you have to hammer your left mouse button for hours as there is no auto-skip for all the boring text.
Excellent game: top notch storytelling, great graphics, and unforgettable characters. Even though I actually have some reservations about the story it's still excellent and as far as adult games games go this is a very solid 9/10 in my book. Do not hesitate to pick this one up.
I enjoyed this a lot but not as much as Love of Magic....It just didn't resonate and the combat system kind of dragged in comparison. Mind you, that is only in comparison to the developer's other works. The game is very, very good! Just not at the level of the other games...and that is a bit of a shame, but I still recommend it if you liked Love of Magic!
A gorgeous and well-made adult game. Truly an example of what this art form can be.
Finished the game and had time to digest it. Overall, a very enjoyable experience; a well-written visual novel with some RPG elements that some may enjoy although the gameplay's randomness and tetris style may not be for everyone. Pro's: 1. the writting is quite solid; intriguing dialogue, some lines that will evoke some thought in the gamer, and a few twists/turns that keeps one engaged even though the sheer multitude of creatures/power structures in the world can blunt some of the impact. I never checked to see if the game has a codex, but it would certainly benefit from one. The plot has enough meat to pull the player along and think "just one more (in-game) day,,,," 2. World Building: as noted above, this is a rich world with layers, including some interesting takes on angels and heaven; not everyone will like the image of flawed angels but it gives them depth and makes them more relatable. At times the world gets a little too dense but it also gives the developers a vast toybox to pull from. 3. Music: too many bangers to name. "Voice of An Angel" is a stand out; peaceful but melancholic. "Massively Massive" is appropriately epic, with choral voices and a stirring beat. That said, a few of the tracks do overstay their welcome but maybe I spent too much time in the gym/maze. 4. Art: going with a non-stylistic approach to be more realistic, the character models are for the most part quite lovely and detailed. You wlll definitely find a favorite or three. Reasonably well done emotions are crafted into the various faces/stances used for dialogue to convey impact. Neutral 1. Sex scenes: honestly, a mixed bag. The still images are rendered well and are erotic but that is a step back from other visual novels that use actual animated scenes. Still, a decent variety of flavors with different characters desiring different things from the MC, whether it's a good time or something deeper. I think with a deeper story (note that i DID enjoy the story), I don't think you would miss the sex scenes that much but YMMV. 2. RPG elements: I liked the light RPG's elements but wish they were more deeply integrated with greater impact for your playthrough. There are some stat checks but not often. The combat is a mixed bag... you'll need a playthrough to get the hang of it and it feels a little too random/opaque at times. I appreciate the developer's attempt to spice of the VN and have actual "gameplay" in the game. I am interested to see a different, and hopefully better take, in the next game. As a sidenote: I like that pretty much anything boosts your stats so you aren't too worried about "wastiing" your time but can try to enjoy the world. Also, some of the later fights in the maze where some enemies start with high regen that can literally take them above 10K hp's gets monotonous at times and a real slog. It was nice to have the option to gain experience and raise stats however. Negative 1. Limited World: there are relatively few locations. While this does help a newer player to not get overwhelmed, I wanted the game to open up a bit more, see what lies beneath. Visiting places became a bit of busy work; go here to pass the day, buy a coffee to boost charisma and get closer to an achivement, etc... I wish there had more more "events" (where you see a question mark with a character that lets your progress their story) so make it more interesting. Overall 8/10: solid and compelling story in a lore dense world with excellent production values (visuals and music). The gameplay that spices it up at times can also bog it down. I do recommend that the developer continue to add gameplay to the game... just perhaps a more streamlined or fun one.
Thank you for another great story. Please make more.
