Monument

It's a $2 indie game. There isn't much to it at all, but for the price of a vending machine snack, it's a pretty cool little game.

Went for a walk among monuments - they started chewing my puzzles. Now I’m part of the exhibit. My mind’s museum runs smoother than reality.

I don’t like to be too harsh, especially on what seems to be a student project, but games don’t just cost money—they cost time. And honestly, Monument doesn’t do enough to justify playing it over classic shooters like Quake or Unreal. The level design and enemy placement are the weakest aspects. It leans heavily on Doom-style colored keycards, but the levels are small and filled with excessive backtracking. Later levels feel like they have a locked door in every second room. Enemy encounters are frustrating—either teleporting right in front of you or pinching you from behind in narrow corridors, which is terrible design for a movement shooter that encourages strafe jumping. With so many great old-school shooters available, Monument just doesn’t stand out. It’s not offensively bad, but there are far better games in the genre that deserve your time.
