Monsters' Den: Book of Dread

A very barebones flash game about clicking around a map, getting randomized loot, and fighting a random set of enemies. This was one of my favorite games back in the early internet, and I still enjoy bouts of it from time to time. While I wish there was a little more meat on the bones sometimes, I think I find a lot of games add a whole lot of fuss and complexity well into the point of diminishing returns. A lot more games really only add the artifice of complexity; a bunch of smoke and mirrors to hide that the game is just as barebones as this one, like they're embarrassed. While a lot of things are randomly generated, other things are completely consistent. That's nice, I think. The design is clean, in that way. Sometimes, simplicity is a treat.
